I think Willie wanted Jake to focus on his two way play. Willie has treated all his prospects that way. This is inportant, but a coach needs to also work with the player that he has. Willie seems less concerned with winning, and more concerned with 'not losing'. That is my biggest issue with WD. Jake and Willie clearly had a breakdown, as Jake is young and raw, but has talents this team needs badly. The man child is 20, rushed to the NHL under questionable priorities and a difference between his Junior club and the Canucks. Jake should have started in the AHL, was doing well at camp, had and injury and struggled to catch up. The only reason I can think of to keep him in the NHL was to monitor his recovery from that preseason injury. Anything else looks like poor assest management and poor coaching. The Canucks would not likely advertise this, as others clubs would likely target Jake. EW

Many of us have been advocating this. Jake is the bruising Left Winger we need. Now the team needs to be patient with him, until he makes it impossible to deny him NHL minutes. What Jake was missing was hunger in his play. Hopefully he finds it. Gotta wonder on another note how hard it would be to jump to the NHL as a 19 y/o playing on his weak side, the eye test and his offense seems to indicate that he is way more comfortable on the left side. Be another year for a Goalie to steal the Comets way into the playoffs. Vancity may be taking all of utica's other players, but with tending numbers like that, Green may look to a giant killer again this year.
-
Gotta agree, but he is decent as a two way player, not just a floater. I would like to see Eriksson with Horvat and Rodin. But Baer with Granlund and Burrows. Hansen, we will have a nice problem when he gets back. EW

Skating down on the left with wing. He picked his spot and has a very quick release. Maybe we have our future tough hard hitting left winger, let's hope.
-
We are deep on the right side, which is a luxury we can't afford considering our many weaknesses. Edler would be harder to move, and if we keep Edler, we can give Juolevi more time to develop. Stecher has made it, he has put pressure on JB to make some room on defence.

I imagine that OJ will be the Edler we had also hoped to have.

It looked as though he was backing up or on his back foot when he shot that puck. He wasn't really well set up and it shows remarkable balance and skill to do that. Most one timers the player is stationary or skating into the puck. I imagine a lot of players would have either miss timed the shot, with either a wiffle shot that goes nowhere, or completely miss. This guy has the skills. EW

He is in Green's hands now. Green could be bag skating him every second day right now. He is where he needs to be to become the player he is capable of becoming. Getting caught up in short term progress in a long term project is a recipe for madness. Jake should have been down there since he puck drop this year. He is having to adjust and I have a suspicion that Green may be have to tear him down and rebuild Jakes game. I don't know how much room Jake has in his head, but WD filled it up with playing safe. Jake needs to play with 'controlled' reckless abandon to be a success. Don't expect much till Green has had some time with him. EW

Thats where he belongs. Imagine him with Lockwood and our yet to be determined Playmaker. Speed to burn on either wing. Lockwood has the puck on a string. He can handle it at max speed too. Don't think he has even touched on his stick handling yet. Nice talent and excellent pick.

We are also in good shape for the expansion draft. If everything stays pat, our biggest loss could be Sbisa or one of Baer , Gaunce or Granlund. We have over 10m coming off the roster this year, even with RFA's we can take on cap to make a deal, especially if we have a player heading the other way. Edmonton has some great assests to trade, not sure if they will get the value back, based on the Hall and Yakupov deals. I expect a lot of deals to be had this year, and we should be in the running. Gotta think that a Hutton/Hansen package could get a really decent return. Huttons exempt and any playoff bound team would want Hansen. Trymakin can take Huttons spot, with Juolevi in the wings. Stecher Guds and Tanev on the right side. I am curious if Tanev can play the left side effectively. A Tanev Guddy pairing could be a damn good shut down pairing. We may not be able to match Edmonton for trade bait, but if JB is looking to shake things up and take advantage of likely missing out the playoffs this year, making a trade like I am suggesting get us something sexy back.

Drais would be worth nearly any player on our roster. Hoped that Edmonton would have screwed up that draft. Oh well. A 1-2 of Drais and Horvat would give us a a very solid future. EW

Well Bo seems to be filling the gap that Kesler left, Sutter is also filling a gap that has been patch work since Malholtra took a puck in the eye. All we need is a playmaking offensive center and our pivot position is well covered for the coming years. . Not sure that he has to be a generational talent, just good enough to take advantage of the o zone starts that guys like Sutter and Horvat can provide. Horvat is earning his next contract by taking over his team. He is the light in the darkness right now. 5 to 6 for max term that we can get. EW

Niell also looks promissing, if not a tier below the above listed.

Looks good in on a very small sample size. JB make some moves!!!
-
Who's Poolman? Wicked point shot. Something our org needs badly. Is he drafted?
-
More like JB uses them, but analytics only factors into his roster moves. To him, they are not the deciding factor as they are now with some other clubs. We should appreciate this from the Canucks prespective. GMMG was a hockey analytics pioneer, look how well that worked for us. Like vitamins, essential for life, but you still need your meat and potatoes!

Is Boeser still eligible for the WJC? If so, awesome. Juolevi is eligible for two more seasons. Tons of room for him to develop and grow.
-
It's a toss up between him and Boeser. Both are showing very well and seem to be character guys. I like that JB seems to be getting character players with these two, added bonus to their abilities.
-
Also agree. Most 'fans' stat watch and only really value goals. Juolevi is the type of player that is value added. He makes that key pass or transition that catches the other team and gives his forwards a better chance in the offensive end. One Juinor coach said last year that he was 'impossible to forecheck'. High praise for the skinny Finn. It's a far more subtle thing to appreciate and without advanced stats in Juinor a lot can't see it. Still like this pick. EW.

The highest d drafted by the nucks in the last 20 or so years. Scary thought.
-
^^^Does anyone have access to Knights game highlights. I don't feel that OJ's game doesn't really get captured by the score sheet.
-
Jake needs to be in Utica. Very common to need development. Last season he came back from a disapointing WJC and played much better. He needs to get some playing time and be the focus of the coaching staff and maybe the lack of pay and riding a bus playing against softer opposition is just the ticket. Whatever is happening now just seems like a waste of his potential.

2017 NHL Draft - Chicago, Illinois June 23-24 2017

Hansen could fetch a low 1st and would be highly sought after by playoff bound teams. Agree to disagree.
