  1. There is a ton of options with Brock, who is playing fantastic in this stretch. If this is not going to happen this year, the odds are stacked… then the room is going to miss Brock and it’s going to sting. They are the tightest hockey club in terms of friendship, this core, who Brock is a huge part of. that’s the business of hockey and Brock and his agent can sign a one year deal, fair money and Garland becomes the trade bait. its Brocks choice and his agents choice too, if his salary is the one that is used to address other needs. Other players can be moved, with salary that are not a shiny… so it’s relative. but Brock and our first to get the player Alvin wants, then it’s his show now. Serious drafting shoes to step into… we won’t appreciate the drafter JB is, until the next few years. He made some boo-boos, the two standouts are JV and OJ. for exactly the opposite reason. The over adjusting in going from JV to OJ, well that’s called experience and experimentation. it’s learning. The same guy found McCann, who would look nice in any lineup, Demko, Trymakin who didn’t really want to try living in NA, Forsling, wouldn’t he be nice atm and the loser facing jail. That’s more draft success in two weeks than MG had in his entire tenure. The irony, he made the wrong moves after, and or, made the wrong first pick. So too did everyone else. Brock, Gaudette, Petey, Hughes, Podz, Hogz, Woo, Rathbone, Martin, Klimovich, Jurmo, Karlsson and Utunnen were all armature or minor scouting finds… and there is still a pipeline. It’s just less flashy, cause that’s what defence is. Are our minor league prospects and AHl guys first line or first paring folks… not likely, but they all have NHL potential well above anyone in the cupboard when JB took over. I want a RHD. then another.. then draft all the other positions you want.. next year, repeat. There is a very hot market on defencemen, let’s become a factory for more than goalies…
  2. The team has to win. that’s all the can do, it’s possible and they just won the same number in a row, so let’s see. ottawa is trying their best to be spoilers and they played hard. good. It’s not supposed to be easy. also, what’s the best thing one can do to learn and improve, make mistakes, but don’t forget your mistake the next time. so, if we miss, we did by inches, and that’s because of a bad start 6-7 months ago. That’s painful, it hurts and it sucks.. and it’s a game. so for the players like Petey, Bo, Quinn Podz and Miller, they will hate that they have to watch teams not a dynamic as them or as capable, playing when they cannot. Demko will likely sleep for a week… but he’s gassed. Bring Back Bruce, and start right from the first day of the post season and don’t &^@# up the first 20 games next time. Picks are picks, and it’s always a crap shoot, we have our first, if we miss, it’s a mid first, so 14-17 range. Dylan Larkin, Chabot and Pasternak were all selected in that range when we took JV and McCann. McAvoy came in that range so too did a number of other good to great players who are major difference makers. we have a deep Center ice, we have a deep goal and we have deep wings. We need to strengthen the defence RHD, but that’s a long term fix that requires draft picks to address or a big trade, or a smart trade. so if we miss, I want it too hurt, like sear and sting, like road rash and it’s frustrating and embarrassing cause you have to hover when you poop, cause the road rash is on your butt. and you were wearing shorts when it happened. you will heal, but the embarrassment and frustration of not doing what you love, well that’s going to knaw at this group… they know they let Green and JB down, even if JB and Green let them down. They want to prove it to Bruce, that they are as good as anyone. Bring Back Bruce… and no fat lady is singing yet… but they just flashed the lights and turned off the music. Phats..
  3. Was Phil hungry? sorry, bad timing. $&!# stupid drunk thing to do. Unless your a die hard coyotes fan, then I would say, you showed restraint. Was it a loaded hotdog an bun with peppers, or just a raw dog. One is a a drunk and the other, is a serious planner. lol… this $&!# happens and they do serve beer so it’s wonder it’s doesn’t happen all the time. hey, something happened in the stands at a Canucks Game, it’s been awhile.
  4. Are you not entertained! Alf, this is why tanking is for suckers. This is why Bruce is the best, he has the skills of the next coaches in hockey and the fans love him as much as they loved Roger Nielson. For what ever reason, chemistry or timing, the romance is on.. the room is in love and so is the crowd at home. Other than the goal song… so weird. But I love hearing it… so weird. but, this was a must win game for both teams, both teams had to respond and our team had way more than the Stars could handle. Brock is a great player, he and Garland played some of their best hockey of the season. the Podz Miller Garland line is a terror. Podz has a great shot. He spotted a little hole on the short side and put a laser thru it. We have a locomotive in that guy. Put the puck in the corner with anyone from his draft class, and have him face them for the puck. Who wins? Vasily plays each shift like it is his last. He commits to play like a rugby player, and he is a force of will. PLD, the same kind of player. Miller and Bo need to take Podz and drill him in face offs and let his will to win the puck to the rest. He has the the tools and the tool box. He is a class act and the Power Forward as I have always seen it. Yes he could likely drop the gloves and I would not want to be on the other side of that, but he has the skills, timing, speed, instincts and intelligence to understand the game as only one would expect from a protege of the ‘Legend’. He is everything that JV was not. But has all the same physical attributes, but adds heart, courage and integrity to his actions. Bo, Miller, Petey and Bruce. Those are his mentors in Van, the ‘Legend’ is his agent and mentor, coach. The Russian hockey system and prospects prior to the war in Ukraine which is the fault of no hockey system or the kids growing up in Russia. Where you first take your breath of air, that’s not up to you. Vasily would have been a top 3 pick had he played in Western Europe or NA, instead of the Russian system. This guy has one of the greatest players and hockey minds ever known as his mentor and agent. Bo and Miller, can play all forward positions, play a power game, but don’t beat people up, but score and control possession. Petey has some of the best hand eye skills and training I have ever witnessed. These guys are hockey nerds. They love to play the game and hang out with other folks that love to play the game. sharing skills, coming up with plays and being a tight group, that’s clear, this team likes each other. Hamonic was the last not to gel, Halak got over it and bought in, this group is a group and playing for each other and Bruce. They won in a decisive manner and Dallas needs to step up their play, our they won’t last more than 4 games of post season play. Bruce, there it is.
  5. ‘I have been to the edge, and all I saw was just more space’ I have a moniker, the Fundamental Agnostic, because I am an asshole and I love puns. It confuses the living $&!# out of fundamental folks until they think about it for a bit, then they either laugh or get pissy. Or laugh, in a pissy way and then ‘pray for me’. Every religion is really a different way to say, ‘$&!# happened or is happening or will happen, but only on a Sunday…’ one god, three states, many gods some with many arms or heads. Some folks thought it made better sense to say we all got here on the back of a giant turtle, and some believe that 8 goat herders who live in a desert could build a sea vessel and save the world… its just Hogwarts from a thousand years ago or more. If you had never seen special effects, and watched Star Wars as a young adult, you would be a Jedi instead of a Jew of a Gentile, if they had the silver screen instead of stone tablets and the stars in the sky. sit around a fire, at night looking up at the sky, drinking or smoking whatever everyone else was drinking or smoking, who has ever told the truth? it’s the way humans talk bull$&!#, that’s were we came up basic explanations for the unknown. From there sprung up those that questioned these arbitrary and illogical conclusions without substantive proof and that’s why we have science. My paramedic P-3 company in Nova Scotia, owned by Medavie Blue Cross taught us all ‘critical thinking skills’ and how to break down Bias and keep it from interfering with patient assessment, after one single person screwed up really badly. it was done two separate times. Same person was the cause of both times. Basically, it was a way for the company to make many feel like they thought we were dummies, but I loved it. logic, reason and understanding the 11 tactics that people employ, some only use one or two, my ex wife, all 11, to deflect, lie mistake or get out of admitting they were full of $&!# and cheating on your for 3 years. or in the case of religion, a type of illogical reason called ‘Apologetics’. learn to follow logic a reason, it could help you prove your ex wife and her PHD RN professor of nurses at STFX tried to let you die of a Medical emergency that you didn’t know you were having only 36 hairs after you asked her for a divorce after 19 years together. I caught them lying to the RCMP in the reports, 30 hours prior to my almost death. I used the critical thinking training to go back thru and find the evidence. Learn to spot bull$&!#, then duck, cause no one you know who lies to you all the time, wants you to figure it out. I had a 450k death benefit, plus we own a decent house. Happened Halloween Weekend 2020. ifs been a living hell, but some times this board, as &^@#ed up as it is, has gotten me thru. Been on here for year and has always been my way of being home when I haven’t been back to BC in a decade. at least I am alive. I added a picture of the files and legal documents I have received as I force some reluctant authorities to shed light on their actions. Self litigant, dyslexic with a Eidetic memory. My biological father and abuser is a disbarred lawyer and international bank fraudster and wanted for child sex crimes in Thailand. Currently my biological nightmare who abused me when I was very young, one terrible weekend, is living as a her and free from extradition back to Thailand, where he/she/they were in prison for an attempted bank fraud being caught red handed passing a forged bankers cheque for 1 million USD in 1995. He was sentence to prison, then his childhood friend, Preston Manning returned my biological nightmare back to Canada in 1996/7 when he was the Head of the loyal opposition of the government of Canada. my nightmare’s father was the dentist for the Social Credit Party bigwigs of the Earnest Manning government. my given name was Adam Kiril Orobko, I was adopted and have a different surname. my nightmare was William jr Orobko, aka Billy Jr aka Willow Aruna. so far I have faced my past, in these last 18 months, because my child hood trauma, in February 1979 3 weeks after my mom left my nightmare, she and her best friend went to see ‘Neil Diamond’. in a dark rage, after I wet the bed, he nearly beat me to death, until my sister stopped him. She independently confirmed this, we are estranged, my nightmare also admitted to this, but the statute of limitations expired. I was loud and the neighborhood asked questions. The next night he did things to me, I will not share here. when my mother went the priest after she left my nightmare, he said divorce is a sin. Preston Manning and his father are or were the Christian Right in Canada. They are &^@#ing cons… it’s a con and it always was. I figured it out, and my ex wanted me to die. Then I didn’t, I am Irish in my mothers side, my nightmare is Ukrainian. for the first time in my life, I am 49 today, I am proud to say I am Ukrainian. half Irish and half Ukrainian. I will never be able to lie down and shut up. also beating the system in Antigonish. I have three crown prosectors under investigation and the senior crown attorneys wife, the Justice of my divorce custody case all removed or barred from my file as I was charged 4 times in error to the wife’s court order by the junior prosecutors and or RCMP, but after one prosecutor was caught omitting evidence to my legal aid lawyer, that I had received in the FIO request from the RCMP to my then lawyer directly, it shows that the error was known and acknowledged by the Crown prior to the charges being laid by the RCMP. 4 times and the basis, my childhood PTSD. I live in the same county that Lionel Desmond and his family died, so now the locals fear anyone who has PTSD. prior to this, I was a ten year Paramedic and the only reason I am not currently, with all candour and honesty, because I have PTSD, that I have been in therapy for since 2017, and successfully returned to work and completed my second diploma while working full time, becoming an Advanced Care Paramedic, and in doing so, have helped or delivered 4 citizens of Nova Scotia. but I have PTSD, so I am to be feared and loathed. it’s no joke and this is why you need to think and not just believe what others want you too. Antigonish has a Knick name, ‘the little Vatican’. stay safe. Don’t drink any Kool aid and understand logic and reason, it could help save your life one day.
  6. Utica was a gem of a place for a lot of players. The building was packed and the fan base was super supportive. i liked it there cause I am stuck in Nova Scotia. But that was the first time the team bought an AHL franchise. Before that, it was always a lease or something like that, which worked great in Winnipeg until the jets returned and ruined everything for us… lol. Just kidding. you know all the ‘Peggers’ will come out and say what a great town it us, etc. my ex father in law lived 5 streets from ‘confusion corner’ a landmark. The peg, it’s a friendly place that know one would ever want to move too unless they are getting laid or paid or both. the recent complaints of the prospect development ‘is Sue’s’ has a very short term memory and that makes the claims the ‘dismal’ prospect pool fails to take in the complete and total over haul of the entire development system from adequate, as at least MG convinced ownership to buy an AHL team, the system in place now is a real decent and long term system that cannot fail to be of benefit to the parent club. so sprinkle in a few more draft picks over the next two years, while the core, minus Brock, it’s truly a numbers game, (how can he stay and we keep the salary down? ) the core shakes off the growing pains and makes good in its recovery of this season. I get the want of either the first over all each year or the cup, or both every year… but it’s not a straight line. if the core can be kept, that our prospects get time to become players and not just fill in injury protection, then it makes the non core but impossible not to have guys that deserve raises, just like Motte, but maybe third and second line guys, and have a new cheaper player step in, just like Lockwood, and not look out of place, at all, like Martin. That Rathboone has huge upside, and can only be a better player with time to get physically stronger, and rack up massive points, that’s what he needs to do. It’s that exactly what we want for a fourth rounder..? ne happy Abbey is just down the road, that the team is doing great and the success of the goalie factory could be a road map to fixing other long term issues with scouting and development. Let the young guys push the more expel ones out and see how the next two years work out as Karlsson, Jurmo, Utenen, Myrenberg and others follow Klimovich over, with other players getting healthy or finding their game. it’s not prefect, but there is not a black hole, we also could sneak into the post season. If this team gets in, all bets are off. no other team in the west want to face Bruce and the boys with Demko in net. Horvat injured or not, they is more than enough talent in Petey and Miller to carry a line each. it’s not a situation I want, but every team is banged and bruised and sore and injured. So it happens and hockey is blood sport.
  7. Ghosts of past Canucks GM’s and owners say, ‘hold my beer’.
  8. That is with the last to best prospects graduating to the top club without a game played in the AHL. the AHL team alone is not an total picture and with the straight to NHL path of Podz and Hogs is not really factored in. the team has enough real players and a solid base in Abbey to build up future Prospects under really good oversight, I see no reason that more of those draft picks like Klim will get more time in the AHL as the core has players rotated around it. think of the days of the Chicago Wolves. That’s some dark days in deed.
  9. That’s why I said for this team, this is the playoffs… and it is, until they are out of it. Then of course it would be not point.
  10. Alf, I will pose a question for you. If we signed Miller to a fair value contract for his age and do it as an extension, and he doesn’t quite live up to the deal, would it be impossible to trade him for a late 1st and 3rd to a team with cap space and who is trying to win it all? I bet that would be an easy price. that’s what he cost the team. so sign him, bring back Brice, cause anyone would be nuts not too. to verify that above statement, would anyone at all on this board who claims y be a fan of this team, had the opportunity to go back in time to the end of last season and one thing is different. this team as it was built and as it is now, not one roster move different or even the GM change. Just put Bruce in charge from day one, and are we a playoff team or a golfing team? do we have two more wins, or not? he has the best winning percentage of any coach in club history, and if he gets this team to the post season, he should be at least nominated for the Jack Adam’s, and Stan Smyl should be shoe in for GM of the year.
  11. Bo is tough. This isn’t regular season hockey, it’s play off hockey. He will be back sooner.
  12. Bruce has a .669 winning percentage with this team since taking over. the only personal changes have been losing Motte and a D man and gaining Dermott. same team that was losing under green. the only move of substance has been hiring Bruce. it’s a straight forward equation and it’s easy to see what the answer is. Bruce.
  13. Bruce. he has bonded with the team. The room loves him. His record and building a team up has been stellar and if it wasn’t for Bruce, would Trotz have one a cup with Washington? Bruce deserves a contract and Rutherford and Alvin have fired coaches before. Bruce has been fired before. so they all know each other and like each other and have had great success. this experiment might not be of Alvin’s and Rutherfords choosing, but they accepted Bruce as a coach and cannot argue with the results to date. proof is more important and the locker room is full of potential. Bruce is an proven genius at bringing out the best in his young players. If it not broken don’t fix it.
  14. You are turned around Alf, we are climbing out of the rabbit hole, not into it with OEL and Myers. most fans are still smarting about the lost early season. two more wins then, we are in the playoffs. but the defence was due for a major overhaul and it’s was done all at once. had JB been smarter, he would have fired Green to save himself. A GM is supposed to do that. It’s a business. but JB and any hockey person would know the risk reward for rebuilding an entire defence in one post season, oh yeah, Hughes missed time with his new partners too. so the tire fire that developed in those early games when new D pairings blew assignments and were unfamiliar with each other and we lost more than we could afford to lose. we went from that to top 3 in goals against in the western conference in less than 60 games. of we make the post season, it would be one for the record books. That’s what is still possible. but we could be looking at next year and the draft instead. Alf, that’s called conditioning. We are used it. If we still miss by inches, we will get a really good player, or screw it up… but after JB, does anyone still think we are poor at drafting?
  15. Unsung hero of the season. Played in all games, played on all the PK’s except when he was in the bin. someone has to mind the shop while Hughes is running the puck up ice or OEL is manning the point. Myers and Schenn they saved the season. Miller carried the day and the younger guys picked up their socks and got refocused, but the veterans and Demko were the only reason we even have a respectable year this year. Myers has shown up and has withstood the horrors that causes almost ever defender in the organization to miss many games each year. we are still number one at games lost to injury on defence. This time it’s not or top four, so with Tanev, Bieksa, Hamhuis and Edler, and Salo… we didn’t have any luck then. OEL 72 gp, Myers 75 gp. guys who can last the season, will make it thru the second season too. it’s no good having a fancy sports car on a bumpy road. yes it’s pretty, it looks great, but it’s not built for the rugged conditions and will spend more time getting repaired than running. the western conference Canadian teams lol have tougher conditions than other players in the NHL. the injury games lost, they tell the story. when the post season begins, the rugged players become more and more valuable because the can withstand the change in strategy and game play that is series play versus round robin play. for reference the round robin, that’s the way the season is scheduled. in the regular season, hits can change a game. in the post season, you need four goals to win a series, but one hit can change a series. Having a guy like Myers that can take a hit and not go off the ice, or lay a hit and not be injured. well that in a very valuable skill, trait or ability in itself. stats are for dummies, stats don’t win playoffs.
  16. Alf, who would play defence? who could we have for less money to eat top 3 minutes and play all the games so far this season other than Myers? OEL is providing solid defence and he is also creating more on the offensive side of then puck too. so who takes his minutes? do you want to have Hughes carry the whole load with only Schenn to rely on? And rookies from the farm. How do you see the team with only draft picks to replace those too spots or cap dump players. Tanking with a 100pt Center and Petey on the roster, and Bo has 30 goals. those are building blocks. So is OEL and Myers. Who will be essential next season and also if we make it thru to the post season. we get the Florida Assistant GM cap penalty back, that’s 3m. Brock is a player to trade with Podz taking his spot. I would rather keep Garland who is a feisty competitor who plays a two way game that really meshes with our forecheck. Brock is a shooter who has worked hard to round out his game, but will never have the foot speed to be a super effective two way player. his shot is a legit asset if he can be paired with a set up guy. he will be missed, but the flow is being do expensive for the numbers here. this is why, if your for some reason asked to be hockey GM, your to say, only for Toronto, okay, Alf.
  17. Yeah and people think OEL and Myers suck or are to much. But with Schenn able to soak up time with Hughes 5v5 and others taking shifts with him, it has spread out the load where we have a legit top four with Schenn being the 4th. he is like having a house on the back end. but mobile and with a shot at times. Myers is a workhorse. Durable ‘knocking on wood’ and has great stamina. Plus a RHD. OEL is any type of minutes and situation top two defender in the league this season. Looks good on either side but with the solid performance of Myers and Schenn, OEL is the second pairing fixture. sure, more goals from the blue line. Yup. That’s a need. Or a want.. but the core duties of the defence on the club is doing its job very well and no one is really talking about it. the time for a new defence to gel, at minimum twenty games. look at the tire fire of our fist twenty. It was entirely predictable just based on Poolman, Hunt, Burroughs and OEL being brought in to the line up with Schenn coming back after work years absent. So only Hughes and Myers returning. said it then and look at the numbers, they appear to back it up. this rabid bi polar fan base has zero patience.
  18. I looked over the games remaining and the LAK have a soft last few games, Chi, Zona, 2 against the Ducks. They have only two against playoff possible teams, one of which is us. but they also just got destroyed by the Avs, so they will either bounce back or fold. They have the easiest path but the least games. We need to pick up 4 points to catch them. It could be a photo finish.
  19. To survive abuse, one must adapt and develop border line traits which are more like PTSD trauma but when a person learns not to get hit, but still try and climb the social ladder, manipulation becomes a survival skill. When the social fabric of any nation, Empire or system of government allows un checked conflict of interest to be overly acting on, that is when corruption is taking over. In the west, we have massive white collar crime issues, but in Russia the white collar Criminals are the government and they are as directly tied to the ‘oligarchs’ which are no different that the central and South America Cartels in the methods and means that they operate, but in Russia, it’s all state sanctioned and in Mexico, the government is in a very hard fight to prevent the Cartels from turning Mexico into Russia. Brazil is basically a South American version of the same corruption and type of government, where the president, he rewards the corrupt business leader and generals that backed him and hands out massive government contracts and seized properties from rivals. Hitler did that to gain favour for the German Industrialists in his rise to power. Life is cheap and predators can be the very ones that are supposed to protect them when you best hope at a future is to sell your vagina to some dude in another country for money and a visa, well that’s a $&!# deal.
  20. But we coulda had Nish… Horvat is only going to be a third line center.
