  1. It’s hilarious in a way, but he should be a can’t miss guy now, as a 7th defender and or a spare forward… thanks to Trent Cull, but no thanks to Trent Cull either.
  2. Jett Woo is our top Prosepect in our biggest hole in position and depth in the entire franchise. He is a guy that can make the leap as a Stay at Home guy that grows into a solid two way guy that can be comfortable and able to make effective decisions and plays in a Number 3/4 spot. If he ever gets to audition with Hughes and they click, he would become a Number 4 guy that looks like a Number 2 and would have the benefit of his partner being a phenomenon. i love how solid he is and his hits are very clean and effective. other players have to think about his presence on the ice at all times. that is a guy that makes Hughes have more space and can be almost like a ‘Free Safety’ lurking on the Right side for a player trying to pounce on a takeaway, from Hughes and just getting their head up to see were the ‘Woo Tang’ Train is and it’s just not fast enough to see Woo playing defence like a Free Safety on Skates. he is a good fighter too, he was named after Jet Li, a friend of the family thru the Jett’s Dad.
  3. Those shinny wingers…. Must resist and finally take a RHD and solve the biggest long term hole in franchise history… once and for all… must stay strong… One more year to build from our massive stockpile of wingers until the addiction can be fixed with the top club. especially the power forward variant that has been this clubs majority focus in drafting. Get the big guy that can skate and score… and yes, this is not a knock on the viability of any one pick this year. it’s a summary of repeated failures of a franchise to address things that cannot be addressed outside of drafting and or giving up first rounders in packages to address, A lot of work has been done to fix and or improve the internal structure and personnel for our prospects and depth on the farm. If no only If the RHD ASP and Reinbacher are gone, both blue chip RHD that will make the NHL as either 2-3 guys with shots and or offensive skill. Then it makes sense to go after a player that is equally likely to make the NHL in a top six role as a Center, LHd or PF winger. I just can’t take it anymore… lol. I think there is something missing from Podz, at this level that I thought wasn’t a problem in other settings. his development in Russia was terrible, and I like his drive. he was shut down with injuries and maybe that’s a good thing. a lot going on for a Young Russian man these days. a lot of his friends from childhood are dead in a war right now, cafe’s he went too in St Petersburg have been the site of bombings and the Restaurant Czar of St Petersburg is now a Mercenary General who has led almost countless young Russian men to violent deaths. I loved his progress in the back half of last year, and it and many things did not materialize this year. like Jett Woo, there are some issues with development that were neglected and or impossible to solve in other leagues or with prior coaches. Boldy is looking great, and your not wrong, I am also not right.
  4. That would also be ironic. let’s hope Stevie Y has the same shades he had on with Hughes dropped to us.
  5. Cause St Louis and our path is sorta similar at this point. They have fallen from a great success and it’s a D and goalie issue too. They have always been strong drafting and scouting. They are right before us, and that is exactly how the NHL and the universe have seemed to have for us. also. if the lottery was rigged, the Canucks were apparently 1 ball off winning. With the entire ‘Lotto’ actually held off camera and the whole public announcement is solely a play. the entire board is already pre understood and known to the people running the lotto. cause the balls already dropped. this may be the most time I have written the balls and dropping in a post, but balls! either way. ASP is the guy we really do need now and for the future. Reinbacher is the Dobson to Bouchard in this for me as my second choice at RHD and our 11 spot. These players are not often traded. Hronek is a rare example and we gave up an 18th OA pick. Bonk, an NHL family, Czech, like Hronek and a two year time line. people think he is small? 6’1 and 176 lbs. he is skinny and still growing. his frame will be in the 6’2 200lbs range, which is a ideal sized NHL d Man. or the LHD Simashyv, (sp?) who has the size and span to be a Chara sized guy in a few years, but shorter. 6’4 LHD. Trade the 11 to drop in the draft, and take the D man we need and the second pick and or Garland can be the sweetener. then in one fell swoop, we have a D in this draft, and another pick or a couple of seconds to take more lotto tickets in a deep draft. or lose cap space and get set for next year with no liabilities left in real terms with the club heading into this camp. I want Schenn back and bring up the kids, Buroughs or stech would be awesome, but we have a tow million dollar guy called Poolman that is not playing. So we can have one of the three FA RHD that have ties to the Nucks, not two. deal. Center depth is an issue and it’s going to require depth in the farm. check, we have that, and some experimentation with some wingers at center, and a cheap depth player… this eras Mike Sillinger to take a spot on a PTO until we can deal with the LTR and Myers. We trade Myers after the 1m, and or he is a 4-5 guy this year until the TDL and then we bring up the kids and or keep Myers for a run. If the sweetner for Garland is a Second, would see what a second and Brock would get. sentimentality is not a thing GM’s and NHL clubs can have in management these days.
  6. I would honestly be happy with either. it the Dobson Vs Bouchard draft I hope. that draft had Dahlin and Hughes in it. so this would be the first draft where a D man could not be taken in the top 10. but I do think some teams have ASP ahead of Reinbacher in the top ten. St Louis is my fear.
  7. Make a billion dollars being a executive and or slum lord and or pension fund raider… and then have a pissing contest with another mad king, like yourself and then you too can be the revered and reviled. dude, it’s a play toy for people that have an unhealthy obsession with money. that’s the ownership of every major sports league and every team in them. It is what it is.
  8. Guys, why are folks calling ASP small. he is currently 5’11. He has more growth in his further before he is fully mature as we all do at that age. And his weight is fine. this guy will add muscle and weight and be right in the 200lbs, 6’0 range as a player. Without loosing his smooth skating and adding power to his game and stride, which his build is ideal for, will give his hits way more energy with his super low Center of gravity. yet he skates like Fred Astaire dances and plays the Right side. with a one two punch with Hughes, this guy would make his D partner better each shift, like Hughes does now. I project ASP as playing in the NHL at the end of next season. depending on his pro commitment and playoffs. Dont f**k around this time and take a winger, address the team need now and for the long term and take ASP and or Reinbacher. Either will be a blue chip option for RHD in either a 2 or 3 spot before and or behind Hronek. By the end of next season. I love ASP skating and agility.. it reminds me of…. Quinn Hughes. it’s the smoothness that almost makes the game slow down on his stick yet he slips past guys and makes a play that could not happen unless he is faster than everyone else.
  9. If we take the intent Vs effect, it should be longer than Arron Romes hit in the finals. AP could have easily broken Leon’s arm(s) and a miss or a deflection could have hit his face or head and neck. with a two handed over head chopping with all force possible. way worse than Romes and he got 4 games in the final. this was Marty Mcsorley level bad. just a deflection with a stick could have been really ugly.
  10. I just canna do it Capt’n! I canna do it! Draft a D or a Center! No I canna do it Capt’n! It’s the Vancouver Canucks Capt’n! Just canna resist the wingers Capt’n! sorry Hippy. it’s my best Engineer Scotty, for the star ship Canucks draft… improv impression. but you make taking a winger sound so tempting… but we need less, and will likely have too many in five years too, with still Hughes sitting around saying, ‘hey guys?’ so IDK. Leo Karlsson is going to be huge, Mats Sundin Huge, plays Center. I know he will be long gone… glad I don’t have the pick to explain in a few years. I would take the pay, don’t get me wrong… but it’s got that, hit or miss big vibe, which feels weird at 11.
  11. I see him easily replacing Garland and we would not notice anything except maybe better production and more cap space.
  12. Me, I take Larkin at 6, take Pasternak and Demko, keep the D men and never hire WD. And it’s a whole different story. Even just trading JV and not Hiring WD would have been amazing in hind sight. lighting the Pick on fire in a protest of whatever would have been better than using it. Brocks back injury… JV did that. Covid 19 thru the entire team and end whatever hope JB had at making good on his other picks, JV did that too. But take any other player at 6 and McCann and then just keep the rest and never hire WD, and we would have been better for it.
  13. Smithers Joe… I quoted you, but ikd? Should the Canucks trade Hughes for a bigger d man? Scott Niedmeyer. Sp? Nuff said. The Devils got Scott Stevens to play with Scott Niedmeyer and their dynasty ended when Neidmeyer went to Anaheim. then the ducks got Pronger to play with Scott. The Hawks kept Keith and when he left they were over too. I would think trading Hughes would be self lobotomy.
  14. There is a great deal more to defence than just agility and or skating with the puck. ASP is it small. He is just not 6 foot or taller. 5’11 and his mobility as a blend of agility and skating is one of his biggest strengths as I understand things. I would be happy to draft more than one d man considering we hav e gone drafts without taking any. random.
  15. Most top d men need to bake till D 2 in their amateur leagues prior to turning Pro in the optimal time lines. Its very rare to have a Hughes or Makar type walk right into the NHL experience, ASP has the frame and is a very mobile player. and I am equally impressed with Rienbachers potential. just that ASP has a think core and so any concerns to his sub 6 foot height are not a concern for me at all if he can be a mobile four way skater and also be able to physically play defensively in the hard areas.
  16. Please. his mobility and solid core is a great fit for our blue line. he gains an inch of height or two and he is NHL sized. Hits like his is already.
  17. I never pretended Forsling was a blue chip talent? I did say he was traded for a puff of smoke in the AHL and he would be a d man exactly as we need, except handedness. unless you liked the Clendenning trade? I thought they both played RHD as a position, also, Trymakin is 6’7. you go tell him that because he is left handed he can’t play RHD! I can’t skate around his reach any better than you can, and it’s so gigantic that I don’t think handedness matters,
  18. It’s so frustrating to see every pick save the first one in 2014 turn out to have addressed real needs for our club. JV… the one that should have been traded away. McCann. The one we need Demko. We would be lost without him. Trymakin. Big mobile RHD. Had WD not been our coach, what could he have done with NHL coaching and development? As a trade some team would have given up a decent valued asset had he not fit in in Vancouver. Forsling. The RHD we have needed. Traded away for a puff of smoke in the AHL. Even with JV as a failed top six pick. This draft was excellent in Amateur scouting. terrible asset management and pro scouting lead to this being sour grapes except for Demko. It gives a fan a the sensation of pre ‘blue balls’. For the ladies on the CDC. if you feel an ache down low when you review the 2014 draft. like you have been kicked, and are bruised inside and can’t tell where. until the pain gets super bad… that’s the feeling one gets right after one of you ladies has kicked us in the nards, but it hasn’t quite hit our brain fully. that’s what sensation I get when I look at our 2014 draft. Demko saves the worst. lol.
  19. 11. hmm. well the RHD and Center spots are fully open save the first ten guys. I do hope ASP and or reinbacher drop and or we look to a few moves to add depth. the acid in my tears from watching Forsling is just further reason to select d men in the draft and we have never had any point in this franchise were we had enough defensive depth. the closet point was the 2011 run and it wasn’t quite enough. Look at the teams that are draft defenders, they have defenders to trade. Look at what trades for defenders can get and you actually need less defenders to ice a team. By sheer logic alone. if you take who you think project to be the best D men, you will invariably draft d and you can draft a Forsling type player and then keep them, but that low low price of a 5th round pick sure will be a lot less than the trade value and or FA contract if Forsling ever hits FA. What value would Forsling get at the next TDL or prior to this years draft? Hronek got 18th OA. This is why you seek to develop and promote your D men and draft them. the fools that solely look a play with the puck to define the success rate in draft picks and overemphasis the risk factor in drafting D men in the first round are not watching the game, they are watching the numbers. We need one more younger D man to make the trio of legit 1,2,3 for our top two pairings. this would give the ones that need more time to develop exactly that. I will be not watching the draft from picks 8-10 as it mind boggling that Det, Wash, and Stl are drafting ahead of us.
  20. Is that seriously the best AHL refs there is in Playoffs? Abby got robbed in this game and I cannot figure why refs would be so involved in elimination game? Hogs was battling for position going for a live puck and the larger player lost his skates and his Center of gravity. what is a player supposed to do on the forecheck, just let the defender retrieve the dump in every time? that would be a really fun game to play and watch. then the icing rule suddenly went from the modern one to the old leg breaking who touched the puck first. Two very suspect calls that led directly to goals. In and elimination game. WWE level officials lead to WWE theatre Vs real sports. The Wranglers should be embarrassed for the win and they looked really surprised to have won in the end of time.
  21. The high floor logic seems a great idea in building a house, but in the first round, take you best shot every shot. Just you have to get Defenders, especially difference making RHD at the draft.
  22. He looks like a Fire Hydrant. Only if he could slap the puck like Al Iafrate and or hit like Schenn. No. But I don’t think Hughes should be taking draws either. and I am not saying Brock Should, but seeing a clip of him beating Petey in draws, and Petey is not a guy who likes being beat, gave me a spark of an idea to distract you all from whatever is currently on the local radio sports talk… and if he can win draws, and that’s his primary Center Duty and then plays every other part of the game safe taking draws, like he is cured deployed, I see it as a possible way to shelter a younger Center up from the farm, exactly like Raty. Who covers a lot of ice, plays a very smart defensive game and plays on the half wall in the offensive zone ala Petey. Put a Podz or a Hogz and or a fast skater who is either a decent defender and needs more growth in offence like Podz and be a more defensive minded third line, and or Hogz like player and make Raty the primary first back player in the back check.
