  1. Dubois will be a stud. Would not want Matt Tkachuk either. Pool party is looking like a trainwreck ATM, but that could change. We still need defense and that highlights why JB took OJ in the first place. One can argue that MT was the player to take, but we still need defence. One could say that Serge was the better choice, but no one was arguing for McAvoy. OJ has had some injury problems, let's hope that is settled for now. I want to see what the kid can do this camp. Really looking forward to seeing OJ, Woo and Hughes at camp. Haven't seen that kind of young talent on defence since Elder was a boy.
  2. Thought they were just waving hello...
  3. Finding late rounder that can step right in is an outlier. To have that happen usually requires a solid frame work of top players to build around. IE put player X on Crosbies wing, or with a Kane or Toews etc... and then laud the smart drafting wizards. But often when those players are moved to other teams for picks or prospects, we'll they don't usually have the same success. Burrows and or Hansen with the twins was a similar situation. I predict that we will see an uptick in 'late round gems' as Bo, Brock, Ep40 and Hughes grow into the stars they are currently on course to become. Gaudette looked good as a rookie last year. For a 5th rounder in his first year pro, I am happy.
  4. Very true. One caveat for Quinn is how much his breakouts will impact the forwards he plays with and the PP. Teams will be hard pressed to contain him. Defensive assignments will get missed and leave forwards open. Giving EP40 and Brock an extra few seconds to get a shot of will lead to a dramatic increase in scoring. Not saying Hughes will be like Lidstrom. Hughes could be the right guy at the right time. Hughes has a unique skill set that could gel brilliantly with Ep40's unique skill set. Unpredictable results are possible. I cannot remember ever having two young rookie/sophomore players this good on any nucks team. Bure was amazing, how good would he have been with a d man like Hughes setting him up?
  5. Pre camp angst is normal. 10-20 games in and things will calm down. Hopefully.
  6. Not sure what's going on with Laine, don't see him staying in the peg long term. Selanne 2.0?
  7. Don't see where he fits if he sticks. Good luck to Ray's son, may he be better than Dave's son from last year.
  8. Not taking your experience with concusions for granted, but flying isn't necessarily an issue. Medical staff are available to consult prior to an injured player taking a flight. Big differences in how people fair with concussions and how severe they may be. Dr Recchi might not agree, but if Demko was authorized by team docs to fly and is doing just fine, maybe the docs were right.
  9. I see a player who's game will seamlessly transfer to the NHL. Beast like tenacity. Great pick and IMO in a re draft in 5 years he rises a few spots.
  10. Late round gem in the mold of Gaudette... way to go JB.
  11. Do you have any medical background? Can you make an educated determination about cases and patients without better information? This isn't like sending Lindros to bed with a Pneumothorax which turned into a tension Pneumothorax and could have killed him. Players get hurt and play thru injuries. Not every player reports pain and injuries the same way.
  12. Once went for a swim at a lake on Saltspring, just as I was walking out onto the dock the older hippy was climbing out of the water. I realized two things at the same time, both were kinda a surprise, first, apparently the lake was a nude lake. Second, if you aren't into manscaping, that hair can get really long and grey. It was like the scene from the 'Life of Brian' with the guy in the bush with the bush. The old guy let his hair down too... if it's going to be that kind of thread...
  13. Took and break.... not up to speed yet... need more caffeine.
  14. I didn't say the media... There is absolutely no need to rush OJ and after missing 3/4 of a season and not being 100% according to his agent and JB, Utica is his likely landing spot for now. Seems pretty reasonable, just not for those looking to create content and click bait. Q
  15. I see no concerns with OJ atm. The player, coaches and managers all appear to be on the same page.
  16. Bold predictions! Hughes and Petterson go together like Gin and Tonic. Our PP becomes top ten. Hughes is the tonic for Myers. Myers has his best offensive season in nearly a decade playing with Hughes. If someone sneezes near Hughes, Myers shows what a truly BIG MAN can do.1 Myers 40 pts. Hughes becomes the transition breakout king of the Western Conference by season's end. Both Pettersson and Hughes make the all star game. Petey 85pts plus Hughes 50 plus pts. Boeser misses part of the pre season with contract 'issue's' but that is partly coordinated to allow him more time with his dad prior to the season starting. The Canucks go all out for the Boeser's on the Father Son road trip. Boeser dedicates the season to his dad and goes on a tear. With Pettersson setting him up.and Miller playing support, 40 goals. Horvat. Comes into camp more mature and ready than ever before. Marriage has improved an already established strong player. Our natural captain is fully ready to lead this team. 30g/30a, Selkie finalist. Markstrom maintains his play. An improved team in front of him makes him look even better. Demko quietly shows that he is ready to be the guy. Canucks have yet another 'goalie controversy' We see many highlight reels of the Luongo/Schnieder/Lack and Canuck fans begin to spiral into a media blackhole. Players ignore it and the team surprises everyone and keeps both and pushes for the playoffs. Green gets renewed. Should be considered an Adam's candidate, but the league ignores his success, cue slagging the eastern bias all season. Ferland, Miller, Pearson and Baer provide enough stability to give the Nucks a solid top six and all score near a 20g pace. Virtanen still is trying to find his game and cannot supplant anyone out if the top six. JB becomes open to moving him for another player in need of new scenery. Buffalo and Vancouver pair up again and Ristolainen comes back in a player for player deal. With Podz and Keppen selected this year, not entirely crazy. Sutter and Eriksson do not finish the season in Vancouver, Gaudette pushes Sutter out of the lineup be the TDL and Eriksson doesn't get one game. OJ impresses in camp, makes it hard to send him down, Woo's jets and energy make him an instant favourite at camp, gets a 9 game stint. OJ is sent down along with Gaudette, both are regulars by seasons end. Our improved defence keeps us in games we would have lost last year. Benn makes a great Shut down pairing with Tanev, Stecher and Edler become ideal middle six players, Biega does his thing. With the huge influx of young D men, Cull culls the weaker players and what left takes Utica to the finals with Depietro stealing the crease. Guys like Lind, Jasek, Gadz etc show that they are good prospects and get some games, McEwan beats out Schaller, fans love his game, Schaller joins the Eriksson on the waiver wire. Podz cements himself on his KHL roster and makes JB look like a genius drafter again. Trymakin returns by the playoffs and Vancouver doesn't need to add. The team makes the second round and bows out after a hard fought 7 game series. The guys leave hungry and return better next year. That's a lot of bold predictions.
  17. Idk about that. Podz is a pretty intense kid. A line of Podz, Horvat and Virtannen could make it pretty hard to avoid contact, with or without the puck.
  18. Agreed, I want more OJ like Christopher Walken needs more cow bell.
  19. Cough, playing on a bad knee. Cough. His defence could need work but it's just as likely that his defence suffered due to his knee injury. 3 years post his draft and we still need to see the real OJ.
  20. For 1m on a 1 year deal. I would take a flyer on him. If he doesn't pan out, JB can easily unload him, if he does bounce back we could, if nothing else, flip him for a decent pick or prospect. No real down side IMO
  21. If Shattenkirk is getting buyout money he could likely take a 1 year low money deal with a cup contending team to restore his market value. Maybe JB could entice him with a spot on the PP with Hughes, Ep40, Boeser and Horvat. Somehow I doubt it, feel the Shero swoops in and brings him to NJ.
