Heck, at best he will be our 2nd pairing at Christmas and unfortunately for him, he will be stalled out as a top 4 LHD for the rest of his time in Vancouver thru no fault if his own. Waste of a pick, trolls will argue, we could have had Tkachuk!!!!!! Damn that Quinn Hughez kid....

[Report] Flyers place MacDonald on waivers

Pass. I work with his cousin here on the east coast. Without quoting her, basically he lives it up and is lazy. Basically he knows he was set for life and doesn't care. -
2019 NHL Entry Draft in Vancouver, BC
Phat Fingers replied to Qwags's topic in Prospects / Farm Team
You could be right Agent, but then again likely we are both going to be wrong with our predictions. I don't need to re hash the pre draft speculating from last year and we disagree on Bouchard. Horse is dead, no need to shoot it. -

Do you mean hard shooting RHD need not apply to the NHL? Bouchard can skate, his first steps are his biggest weakness. He has time to show whether he can improve or not. The guy was a good pick for Edmonton. Hughes is better IMO, which has changed from pre draft. Even with Hughes, we still need a Bouchard type player in our system. Love Woo, Rathbone could pan out, beyond that, we don't have a top pairing RHD to match Hughes. -

Bouchard will be a good hard shooting RHD. Something we still want. Hughes has far higher overall skill, skating and playmaking, both on defence and offence. But Bouchard has a great outlet pass and a great shot. Guys like Souray and Auccoin made great careers with less talent than Bouchard has displayed. -
2019 NHL Entry Draft in Vancouver, BC

Post every SCF, there is a need to try and replicate the makeup style of the winning club. One team does it with size, one with speed, one with at least 2 generational players, one with defence etc... St Louis had all the chips fall into place, including Chara's injury to come away with the win. Looking at every team that wins the final, timing and luck play a huge roll. Missed calls, hot goalies, injuries, league rule changes in the final to overwhelmingly favour one team etc... One key component is drafting. Finding those players that others miss, like Paryako and Binnington. Drafting has evolved and JB is building a fast hockey team. The team he is constructing is a smart hockey team and a confident hockey team. Next year size could lose to speed, or the smart team wins, or the underdog Cinderella team wins. It is variable. Tryingto follow a new trend, losing focus on a future concept can completely unravel a good team. The Leafs have been a club that lacked it's own internal compass and followed trends. Better to be a trend setter. Trend setting teams are the ones with rings. -
2019 NHL Entry Draft in Vancouver, BC

Edmonton might value Boldy or Dach higher, even Podz. If anything, Holland could trade up with JP and the 8th to move up to grab Bryam. I would if I was him. This is going to be a interesting draft and anything is possible past the 2nd pick. Broberg is a guy I hope is Available, in fact I hope JB has his choice at the second best d man again. Hughes was awesome. -

Broberg or Sieder appear to be decent guys at our spot. If Newhook isnt the guy, Krebs is injured, defence is a good a place as any. Honestly JB is going to land a good player at 10. It what else he is going to do that really interests me. -
Irony doesn't translate very well does it? Well played sir, well played. This is why the media is hyping things up. It is click bait and only click bait. Edler wants to stay in Vancouver, check. The Canucks want to keep Edler. Check Edler gets a raise. Check. Edler wants a NMC clause, Vancouver will give him one, but only for a 2 year deal. Not because they don,'t want Eddy to retire here, just to avoid expansion. 50/50 check. So the only hold up is from an external influence that will affect Eddie's deal here and with every other club. Eddy isnt getting a NMC clause with expansion protection for a 4-5 year deal anywhere else either. Added to that, the Canucks would offer him a longer deal with some protections, just not from expansion. No other team will offer more. Added to that, Edler would have to be willing to leave Vancouver after saying forever that he doesn't want to do that. I highly doubt he and his agent are actually surprised by this and I doubt the Canucks were too. These groups have done business happily with each other for a long time. The vaccum on time is being filled with refuse. The same guys saying this are also the ones that talked up the Boeser negotiations too. Click bait... fans getting hooked again.

The official stalking song lyrics. It's even creepier without Sting singing it. Every breath you take Every move you make Every bond you break Every step you take I'll be watching you Every single day Every word you say Every game you play Every night you stay I'll be watching you O can't you see You belong to me How my poor heart aches with every step you take Every move you make Every vow you break Every smile you fake Every claim you stake I'll be watching you Since you've gone I been lost without a trace I dream at night I can only see your face I look around but it's you I can't replace I keep crying baby please Every move you make Every vow you break Every smile you fake Every claim you stake I'll be watching you Zepp, the 5th can't quit you. at least you won't ever be lonely, cause the 5th will always be there.

Good points. Trading away our pick, prospects or one of our top players for any thing less than an improvement with a young player is a waste. The guy I have been looking at is Trouba, who is likely heading out of the Peg. Whether we are even in the mix is far from determined. Trouba for our tenth and Tanev would be IMO a good deal provided is a trade.and sign or sign and trade.

There is legit players that will be on the block this draft. Getting a player that can step into a key position now for a decent length of time is Okay by me. JB would be stupid to not have his options open. Teams around him in the draft order are actively shopping their pick, so JB is going to get calls. People put way too much emphasis on these media scrums. JB and every other GM aren't really going to go beyond their talking points. JB learned that with the Subban incident.

2019 NHL Entry Draft in Vancouver, BC

Sure, Stawns JV is currently an above avg 3rd liner. Broberg is the prospect that is a possible selection at the 10th spot. -
2019 NHL Entry Draft in Vancouver, BC
Phat Fingers replied to Qwags's topic in Prospects / Farm Team
He has struggled to play consistently at the Pro level, so far his offense hasn't translated. He struggled to adapt to the rigours and needed approach to professional off ice training. Etc, etc, etc. Not unusual, but also behind the best of his draft. As a 6th OA pick, JV has earned some criticism, not to the level of vile and envy that many have had from him, but still some. The only question is where is his ceiling? Given more minutes and better linemates, JV will improve. But as a 6th OA pick, so far he has not passed the "average level" 3rd line NHLer. I believe he will, but he hasn't yet. Then again he doesn't make 7 m per year and suck in the playoffs, so silver lining... -

Me too. On to Broberg vs Sieder. From a few posts, Broberg is a crazy good skater, LHD, whereas Sieder is a blue chip RHD. -

Stawns, Who is comparing an active player to a potential draft pick? Didnt think I needed to specify reference that this was pre draft JV with pre draft Broberg. JV has yet to reach his potential but he is close. His biggest hurdle has been his 'toolbox'. I think he is almost there. Broberg is a similar pick, all the tools, but has consistently issues and can lose the play. Jake has greatly improved and could be poised to breakout this season. I have been a supporter of JV for a long time. Think your aggressive response was meant for others. -

Phat Fingers replied to Qwags's topic in Prospects / Farm Team
Broberg is the JV of d men. All the tools, but does he have the tool box to play in the NHL. I think he would project very well, but like Jake, not sure of he would be a top pairing guy or a bottom pairing guy. IMO he is a can't miss guy, but so are Soderstrom and Seider. If JB is picking a D man at 10, he should swing for the fences vs taking the surest bet. I would go with the German, big frame, great skating and a heavy RHD shot. With him and Woo, we would have 2 RHD with a great blend of skills and frames to offset our 2 LHD, OJ and Hughes. With Krebs falling, I think Seider is the guy to pick. No AHL restrictions either. The guy could be in the system as of next season -
He is poised to break thru this year. It will all depend on his off season. He has to come into camp 100% ready physically and mentally. The spots are there for the taking atm. He better grab one while he can.

Now or never is right.

Assuming Baer is healthy, we would be starting the season with a top 6 of Baer, EP40, Boeser, Pearson, Horvat and 1 open spot. JV should be pushing for the spot on Bo's wing, a 2nd line wing is not beyond his abilities. We will likely sign a player to fill in the top 6 roll, but Baer is a questionable player injury wise. Goldy isnt top 6 material at this point. JV produced well for his deployment last year. I think he can improve.

(Discussion) Boeser for Hughes
Phat Fingers replied to Gator's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
Agreed. Brock is on the no trade list. He isnt worth 8m, but I would be happy with a Pastrnk type deal. I would think he will end up in the high 6ish or just over 7 per year. The deal will get done, the team and Brock don't want him to miss preseason. Also, we can get a solid blue chip player and a positional need at the 10th spot. The only move I see is one that speeds up the rebound by landing a roster player now. Sutter and Tanev expire next season so we have 2 guys that can be added to any deal that add depth to a team in the hunt, we have a good prospect pool that can be tapped for the right player. With or with out a trade this team is going to finish higher in the standings this year and may not be a lotto eligible club for a while.
