  1. If we are trading up, please let it be for Byram. Switch Hughes over to right side (Hughes says he plays both sides equally well) and we have a future top 4 of Byram Hughes OJ Woo. That is a killer top 4 defence. The puck movement and transition game I would.expect from that group is night and day from our current d corps.
  2. Dont think you could call him a lock for next year, but he could earn a 9 game stint. Woo was missed on the WJC team IMO. His play forces other players to keep their heads up.and he can produce and a very decent clip. He has the gaps.in his game you would expect an 18 y/o top flight jr player to have. He likely needs 1-2 years of AHL seasoning before he can take regular NHL minutes. IMO he is a cant miss player who will fit very nicely in our top for d mix.
  3. Go back a few posts and I referred to a few of the mock drafts and the speculative notes of the media types. The ones I read or watched had Colorado looking for a center. Turcotte was suggested to be a good fit in Colorado cause of his good two way game. Thus I figured Gaudette could be a good trade bait along with our 1st. If Colorado is looking for a center to follow up after Mack ala Kesler and Hank, and not a d man, they have a good young defence atm, then Gaudette is a great option. They get a good young cheap center with a ton of up side and whomever is at 10 a d we get Bryam to complete our defence, especially is Hughes moves to the right side next season. Win, win. We have Madden and the swedish kid plus whomever JB gets in this draft. Plus we can find a center in FA and have Grablund and Sutter to fill in along with Bo, Elias and Beagle.
  4. If Krebs is still there at 10 and we keep our pick... done, done and done. Caulfield is a scout's call. Is he the next St Louis or the next Schoeder? I lean towards him becoming a successful NHLer due to his tenacity. My issue with the nucks, size in our top 6. Can we add Caufield and be successful with a super skilled undersized team in the west? Take the BPA and run. That said, I would be in favour of trading up, targeting Bryam if the opportunity arises.
  5. The value seems fair to me. Dont know if we would have to add a 3rd. Gaudette is a highly rated prospect. Honestly the value is there for any pick past 2 IMO depending on what Edmontkn does. If they learn that Bryam is in play, they could go all in and drive the market up. Chi has a bevy of young D and Kieth, they could use some players all over the line up, but I dont see them passing on Podz. Colorado is gifted a 4th (thank God it's not the 1st) and has a good young defence. They may be looking to unload Johnson due to cap space. They have some big tickets to punch in the next year or two. We could be a landing spot especially if Tanev, Stecher or Hutton go the other way with the 10th and Gaudette. Gaudette is on his ELC for 1 more year maybe 2 the has his RFA years so his cost would be controlled. The 10th would yield avery good player, Krebs, Broberg, Soderstrom Cauflied and or Boldy could all be available. If the Lanche need to unload EJ, I would be happy to have him in Van. We can move out a d man to make room. Bryam could make.the jump as early as next year, we could make room. Woo and OJ could be in the mix into next season and Hughes looks like a vet already. Gaudette is a good player, reminds me of Kesler in many ways minus the nude magazine covers. But adding a top pairing d man with great skating and a heavy shot is far more valuable. So two suggestions based on the Lanches needs. No cap space worries: 10th OA and Gaudette plus a pick, bottom six player or a 2nd tier prospect for the 4thOA. Fair deal and both sides get what they want. Second option is the help the Lanche clear cap space and improve at the same time. 10th OA, Tanev and Gaudette plus to the Lanche for the 4th OA and Johnson. We can retain cap on Tanev of need be.
  6. The trade rod only happen if Byram was there. Like the Subban for our 5th OA if PLD was still on the board. Byram could be selected at 4th, but that leaves Podz and he would be a heck of a player. I dont know if Chi passes on Podz. Added to that, NYR loves them Russians, so Podz could go 2nd. Not likely, but the NYR often go off the board.
  7. Gaunce is not worth anything trade wise. OJ could do it but I think we would have to add.
  8. Dont think Sutter has any value ATM. Dipietro has value, but I see Gaudette, OJ, Woo or Madden as the needed sweetener to get the job done. For various reasons I went with Gaudette, first Madden and that swedish kid from the Dahlen deal are around the corner, 3rd line centers are available through FA and via the trade market. I dont want to give up a d man in this deal as we desperately need d men. The rights to Trymakin? Whats that worth? Hutton or Stecher, sure, Tanev if we take back Johnsons cap hit? Maybe. All more complex and less likely IMO. OJ has low value atm, so I think it would be foolish to move him and Woo is awesome, so no. Gaudette got noticed last year and he has upside. Something Colorado wants. We can find another late round gem, but a 4th OA d man from our own back yard.... that's not something that comes around often.
  9. Any thoughts on trading up to 4th and taking Bryam? Our 10th and Gaudette to Col for the 4th OA? The are looking for a center behind Mack and they could still pick up a good center at 10. Bryam would be like drafting Hughes all over again, amazing.
  10. Who could we package up with our 10th OA pick and address our biggest need, defence. Namely OFD. I have kicked around an idea with some other posters about our pick plus Tanev to Win for Trouba and a pick back. What about packaging our 10th plus other pieces to Colorado for the 4th OA and draft Bryam. He is a LHD, but would be amazing with Hughes on the right side. Would our 10th plus Gaudette get it done? Gaudette and or Madden are both vying for the same roll. We have 2 good young centers to build around in Bo and Elias, so can we use Gaudette to upgrade defence this draft? Is there a cap hit we can take back from the Lanche? Looking at their roster and listening to some of the mock drafts, folks have then taking a center at 4. Gaudette would be alot closer than anyone in this draft outside Hughes ar center, has a great resume and Colorado could still pick up a great prospect at 10. Madden has improved by leaps and bounds, so losing Gaudette isnt the end of the world. Granlund and Sutter are still around and JB can load up on centers for the next 2 drafts if need be. Byram would give this team a huge boost offensively. Getting an OFD like Bryam would be like getting Hughed all over again.... amazing. It may take more than our 10th and Gaudette, throw in Rathbone or Brisbios for example. IMO moving from 10th to 4th would be alot less expensive than moving from 4th to 1st.
  11. Schenn and Elder are going to be that already IMO The biggest hinderance to team success is moving the puck up ice and having d men that contribute on the score sheet. That said, EK is too much and if a RHD can be added like Myers, trading Tanev can offset the cost.
  12. I don't see alot if play in trading up or down. Edmonton is there to outbid us on any move up. They need the same holes filled only 3 years ago. If Byram fell to 6, I dont see Det passing on him. They didnt take Hughes last year and they need d men.
  13. Eggenburger is a must... all name team with Krebs and Woo.
  14. I would.be happy with Foote or any of the above listed d men.
  15. Trading for an obvious need like Trouba hypothetically is the only option I would be okay with.
  16. Really happy to hear Quinn talk about playing the right side as easily as the left. We have to have guys that can play well on either side on defence. That became a huge weakness in our depth players during the SCF. Remember Ballard trying to turn to his off side.... If Quinn could line up at the RD spot next year, it does give us more flexaliblty in our pairings. This is where Hutton and Stecher cant go and Inwould even like to see a Hughes Stecher pairing tried for some PP and late period play. A Hutton Hughed pairing could also be interesting. If the rumours are true, a Gardiner Hughes pairing on the PP...
  17. I have seen Hughes compared to 2 old school US d men, Housley and Leetch. Both HOFers and phenomenal. There is one other guy, not for the offence, but defence. Scott Niedemeyer. Tireless puck hound with an active stick and physical for his size. As for Hughes' skating, I see the same electrifying elements of Housley, but Housley sometimes took a nap without possession. Hughes doesn't seem too. That is what reminds me of Niedemeyer who never looked tired even in his late 30's playing.
  18. The second may be decent if the first dominates. We have Baer, Gaudette, Motte, Virtannen, Pearson, LevioHuttun, Stecher and maybe OJ. Or Woo. These guys wont be out against other teams top PKers. They are young and can skate. We get one creative player in that mix outside of Barr and it could be productive. Not a top rated one, but it will score some goals if the other becomes a killer. Ep40 could double shift, Bo can play all game long and Hughes will end up being a 30 minute a night guy in his career ala Scotty Niedemeyer. Just looking at Hughes zone exit and entry numbers as compared to his veteran team mates in his limited time. WOW. This is the most important stat and IDK why I haven't focused on it enough sooner. We pair Hughes up 5 v 5 with a dominant face off guy, Bo and we have the 2011 team model again in theory. These two could set up so many o zone faceoffs and and tilting our puck possession and the ice in so many ways. Think of the number of shots a line of EP40, Brock and one of Baer, Pearson, Virtannen and possibly or 1sr pick this year could generate. How many plays could EP40 have. Brock took worlds off to train and get fully recovered from his bad rookie year injury. He will.be lining up for shot after shot next year. I feel sorry for the goalies.
  19. My hope is for Krebs, just think he would be dynamite on Bo's or EP40's wing. Plays a 200 ft game, has the skating, decent size and will grow into a 6 foot 200lbs player with skill and intangibles. That said, there are so many good players that will be around and 10. Solod picks with lots to like. I dont know where the dropoff is, but it is well past 15.
  20. Pearson is a new and better version of Higgins. Not a bad thing.
  21. OJ's knee injury might have been part of his problem. With a long and productive off season mayhem the real OJ can step up.
  22. I want Krebs. IMO he would be fantastic on LW with EP40 and Brock.
  23. The tenth and Tanev gets it done IMO. Then sign a RHD depth player. Trouba, Stecher, Schenn Biega Trymakin (hoping) and Woo. Plus Bris can play RD too
  24. Bo is not a guy I ever want to be traded. Not selling Madden short, just that it is going to take alot more than the offers mentioned to get the first.
