JB: I’ll make the phone call about the 1st overall pick
Phat Fingers replied to Generational.EP40's topic in Canucks Talk
Our pick, OJ and Madden isnt going to get the 1st OA. Not even close. I dont know you as a poster, so I am.not trying to shoot this down, but 1st OA's are very expensive and no team would have to pay more for it than the host city that just drafted the expected first picks brother last draft. I would expect that the ask would be Bo or Brock or our pick, Woo OJ, Demko, Lockwood, Madden, Gaudette etc.... We are the Edmonton Oilers in the Hall for Larson deal, only worse. I just dont see anyway that's happening. -
I would pass on the rat too, but that me. I am a rugby player turned hockey nut. Players like the ones we are talking about were hated as much by their own clubs as the rivals. If a teammate of mine acted like these guys, we would have a war every practice. One of us would make the next game, the other wouldnt. The flip side, I wouldn't let my team mates get cheap shotted either.

Of the three Tkachuks, Brady is the only one I Not like I need a reason another reason to hate Calgary. I wont deny his talent but he grates me, in like a Claude Lemieux kinda way.

Getting Byram would be a coup in many regards, but at what cost? I don't want to lose Demko to have him become the goalie he could be. Personally I dont like the idea of trading up. It is too costly, risky etc... Someone else floated the idea of moving the 10th pick for Trouba. That is more appealing to me, but we would be in the mix with Edmonton looking to do the exact same thing. IMO this deal could make sense for both clubs. Chris Tanev, our 10th for Jacob Trouba and the jets 1st, likely a 30th OA. Tanev fills in a depth role on a very reasonable contract, Myers can resign in the Peg and the Jets would have a very veteran solid defence. If JB makes a deal for our pick, I would like to see an immediate team need addressed. -
2019 NHL Entry Draft in Vancouver, BC
Phat Fingers replied to Qwags's topic in Prospects / Farm Team
Hypothetically, where would he have gone in last years draft? Other than BB, I dont see the same quality of defender in the top of this years draft. What do I know, Button has Broberg going top 5. Getting a complete RHD cannot be over looked, but is he a top ten guy or a team need, or both as you suggest. Could a trade down accomplish the same goal? One scouting report I read, or watched put a premium on his RHD vs his other abilities... I will paraphrase, but the take was that his position is what puts him in the top 15, but if he was a LHD he would be in the lower half of the first round. We need RHD, Woo is in the pipeline, but we dont have alot else. But the need is now. I like Soderstrom, but have some doubts about his timeline. That said, you have been right far more than me. With this draft I think JB might look to trade vs take a d man. The only roadblock is that Edmonton is even more desperate than us and their timeline was 3 years ago. -

Agent I gave my take. He doesn't have the speed of other players in his grouping, he isn't a big guy, but decent size with a great shot. When a winger lacks dynamic speed and plays on a powerhouse line I am less inclined to see him selected in the top 10. Boldy is a top ten rated pick for alot of reasons. But speed is a concern, this has been brought up pre draft about some very good NHLers, Bo.and Brock are two that come to mind. Are any players in this draft perfect? No. Kakko is likely the most complete, him and the big Russian. Even Hughes has some less than perfect aspects, like size. Is Hughes a center in the NHL or a winger? Lots of guys can overcome this and some even become superstars, EP40 is on track to do just that, but size is was and will still be a concern. If Boldy was a center, I would be less concerned. If JB and Brackett think Boldy is their guy, I wont hesitate to support the pick. I do believe in their scouting model. They have been right far more than I have. Last year I wanted the hard shooting RHD that is currently destroying the OHL playoffs. JB and Brackett leapt at the chance to draft Hughes, whom we all though would be gone before 7. I 100% like that they took the selection and not me. I will be following the d men from last year. Just to see if my take was not that far off. I still think Bouchard will be that hard shooting RHD that we have needed for a long time. You can't draft all the players... -
2019 NHL Entry Draft in Vancouver, BC
Phat Fingers replied to Qwags's topic in Prospects / Farm Team
How far away do you think he is? 3 years minimum? I am not adverse to taking a d man, but this year at ten I hope either Krebs or Vegras falls. Whomever is there at ten is going to be at least 2 years away. Soderstrom does have a good two way game and is already playing in the SHL so ge should translate. This draft I think that there is one or two forwards that will fall out of the top 9 that have more upside. Gotta think that Edmonton is looking hard at him too. He could be gone before ten. Good depth is never a bad thing, but if a deal can be made with our first to get better sooner, I would think that JB would trade our pick. JB doesn't have any clock left. JB knows that he has to make some moves this summer to get this team competitive. That RHD need is urgent. -

I am not sold on Boldy. His skating is a concern. He has a great shot and IQ. I am all for Zegras, Turcotte, Krebs Cozens or Dach. Caufield is a gamer, but his size is a concern. Is he a Schoeder or a Marner? I don't think Broberg or Soder are as good as last years top d men and Morietz is too much of an unknown playing in a lower league to gamble our first on him. That's my take. -

Doubt they would, but getting a younger proven d man at this point would be a huge win for this club. JB has been open to this before... then the CBJ had to go off the board. -

A top 3 pick would have been awesome, that said the top 12 look solid and there will be a good player and a team need available when we pick. Glad the Lanche didnt get the 1st OA and neither did Edmonton. -

I would have to disagree with you. BB looks to fit an org need and is ranked at 3 in some of the draft analyses I have read. If JB and Brackett like him at 3, I wouldn't be upset at all with taking him. As for being shy about OJ, he was always going to take at minimum 2 years, likely 3 to start NHL games. His injury was a setback, sure, but that could happen to any player. Just because MT is on a well built team and doing well is not a reason to exclude defenceman in the top 10 at the draft. At this point OJ has legit question Mark's around his health, but his play, both in Finland and in NA was very promising. -

Did Travis Green mishandle Nikolai Goldobin?
Phat Fingers replied to *Buzzsaw*'s topic in Canucks Talk
Another thing to add to the mix is that EP40's numbers plummeted around the same time. Not saying there us a direct link, but benching Goldy did not help EP40 in any discernable way. -
OP, One thing missing from your question is how much EP40's transition to center will play into things. He went from being a RW in the SEL to a center in the NHL and setting team records along the way. IMO EP40 already has it, but 30g would seal the deal. The season has definitely worn on him, but I suspect thetr is an undisclosed injury as Dr Jock itch has speculated on. His $&!# disappeared....

If the President hires a guy to cover up a potentially huge damaging investigative report weeks before said report was to be delivered. Then in lew of a 300 plus page report the guy hired weeks ago hands you a 4 page note. Would your trust it..... -
So much to unpack here.... maybe Sean Monahan should go back to Calgary puck.... Your comments are so stupid, you deserve to be called such.

Can we take this Wayne vs Mario discussion and put it somewhere else? I am really interested in Hughes and this is happening during his expected NHL debut. Can we keep this to Hughes please. Saying this as a equal offender at times, that said at least I keep my off topic comments to Canucks players....

Baer may really want to see the ice and shake some of his agnst off. At this point he is either ready to play or he will be shut down. For his sake getting on the oce and being able to play might be a serrious lift going into the offseason.

The chances of any drafted player becoming a top d man is small, it doesn't matter how long or little they play in the minors or if they get injured. Edler has been a top pairing guy for a decade, he was a 3rd rounder, so what does that mean??? Exactly the same thing, nothing. Conjure all you want, we drafted OJ and not Tkachuk. Time is still ticking and yes OJ still has the chance to prove himself. Save your energy to complain about the guy next year if need be. Until then it's a wasted effort.

Depends, after you are with anyone long enough, the looks matter less and having a brain and intelligence matters more. What turns on one person, turns off another. Besides, Schummer is vastly more successful than Fox, so is Tkachuk Schummer and OJ is Fox.... I am confused now and you need to explain yourself.... Seriously why are you comparing Tkachuk to Schummer, is because they are both kinda chunky, have a smirk and are good at what they do? Is OJ your Megan Fox????? Thays weird dude and you need to seek therapy... I am completely disturbed by your references and quit picturing OJ inappropriate scant bikini that Fox would wear, likewise and even worse, stop doing that about with Tkachuk too!!!!!!!
