  1. I think we all did. I doubted it would be before the TDL this season and he didn't get there. It was very premature to end the relationship but from the reports, I dont see the Canucks as the issue, Utica maybe and Dahlen's camp for sure. Such is life. The only concern I have is if this will have any affect on EP40. But other than that, nada.
  2. I doubt this is solely a Canucks 'fan' issue. There are trolls everywhere. Canucks fans were urinated on at the fleet center ve Boston.... Dahlen's agent has not done him any favors with this. After the move, he should have been advised to stay off social media and not to talk about the Canucks or Utica. Focus on hockey. His comments opened him up to rebuke and controversy and he got both. Completely preventable and he needs to have some ownership of his actions and that of his agent.
  3. Who's ego, Dahlen's or JB's? IMO Dahlen airing his grievances on social media is a stupid move. Had he not had his agent talk to JB about a trade he would not have been dealt. This was in the media long before the move, so who was yapping? Then Dahlen and his agent could get their story straight. All easily prevented and still could be old news of Dahlen just stuck to playing hockey vs social media.
  4. That is entitlement. Everyone points to Palmu going back to Finland as some sort of indication of a fire. The guy was an OA 7th round pick. Him making the AHL is alone a long shot atm. That you have to include that to validate your arguement points to how weak it is. As for Lind and Gads.... it us entirely normal to struggle going from Jr to pro hockey. Plus there was an injury with Lind. Gads issue is mainly skating, something that wont be fixed overnight. So that they haven't instantly blossomed into all stars isn't a validation either. So our prospect pool is bad cause a 1st round d man gets hurt, and 3 rookie second rounders haven't figured things out right away and a 7th rounder rookie went back to Europe for a year our two. LMAO, your funny. The only thing you can say is that Dahlen want happy and is blaming the coaching. Okay. Then his agent goes to JB and talks trade. JB cuts bait. So he should. This team isn't doing well atm but I dont think there is one entitled player on the roster. These guys get their lunch pails and go to work. You may think that Dahlen is justified in not sticking it out after a brief stint as rookie and only just getting to NA, but I doubt your sincerity (or maturity) This club has shown since JB has gotten here that good play is rewarded with call ups. If Dahlen wasnt getting a call up, then there was an issue. Cull alone doesn't determine who goes to Vancouver. McEwan has earned a call up, same with Gaudette who is a a far better prospect atm than Dahlen. Is Dahlen showing more than Goldy, Jake, Motte etc... no. He only leads rookie scoring cause other better rookies, like Gaudette split time due to their better play. Far too much drama for a rookie in the AHL who requested a trade thru his agent. No rookie who is getting playing time should be sending their agent to discuss a trade. That's a red flag for me. Dahlen does have things to work on. He isnt nearly the player he needs to be and aparently that rankled him. BTW 'our entire prospect pool sucks under Cull' is proven where? EP40 is still our leading scorer and top candidate for ROTY, Gaudette is playing in the NHL, OJ is injured but was putting up far more points as a d man that Dahlen was as a scoring winger. Demko, who has put his time and work in had his agent advocate for NHL duty, which is justified with his record and work. He didnt ask for a trade, has a way better body of work etc... Baer and Goldy have been given similar treatment and I didnt see them cry for a trade. Dhaliwal is a good source, but is this speculative based on Palmu and Dahlen.... I will say this, if Cull isnt doing the job, then I expect him to get fired by JB, not JP Barry and Dahlen. I would expect that the organization has a pretty good idea of the situation in Utica, Green was the coach there and knows alot of folks. JP didnt just talk to JB about concerns, but specifically about a trade. That's a whole different level.
  5. I jumped in halfway thru... I haven't heard that was an offer. I dont believe it and I can't see anyone turning that down in Vancouver.
  6. At this point, if Tyler can be an NHLer, its fantastic. Billing him into to a top 6 center.... that's loftily and a little too optimistic for me for now. He has a long way to go and his size is a limitation that he will have to overcome and not get injured. For every Johnny Hockey, there are hundreds of guys who never made it.
  7. Selling OJ at a rock bottom price isnt smart. Gaudette is a gamer and I would hate to give up on him now. Provorov is a very talented player and we could really use him. I doubt Philly does that. We would have to add and this is a deal that could look lopsided early for usand later for Philly. With Igor, one would think Trymakin would be more inclined to return and hopefully, at minimum, get a half decent return once signed if he sulks again.
  8. How did you not get entitled out of that???? He knows more than his coaches and management after half a season in his rookie year in the AHL. He gets his agent to ask for a trade and then says otherwise when questioned. He doesn't want to work on his areas of weakness as identified by the people who's job that is and isnt willing to stick things out. For reference, what are Goldies weaknesses? Similar, similar players in terms of skill first, one zone offence guys who have struggled to play even strength and away from the puck. Fair comment? Let's compare their situations and how their agents went about things. Goldy has never complained, been benched, sent down, played alot of AHL games etc. His agent Larionov shot down any talk of Goldy going back to Russia or seeking a trade. He is sticking so far and if he continues to work hard he could be a decent player. Compare that to the Dahlen situation. Son of a NHLer, hero of Trima, came into the NA pro leagues and wanted to be treated differently. He sees his buddy gaining fame and success and maybe feels left out struggling to find his groove in the AHL. 40 games into a different league, style of play and etc he complains enough to staff, his agent etc to have his agent ask for a move. Then he denies doing any such thing and is now deriding his former coaches and staff for not treating him just so. This is entitlement and what ever Dahlen did in Trimra means nothing the say he hit the NA ice. Maybe that statute has given him a inflated ego. He can still grow and learn, but this opportunity to become a NHLer is looking further and further away. This will hurt him not just in our org, but in other organizations too. I hope he shuts his yap and gets back to hockey. He is still full of potential, but full of $&!# too. PS look to Baer, are alot of crow in Calgary, kept his head down and worked hard, when Management tapped about him being a poor player (thanks Burke) he is traded for a 2nd. Now he is suffering PCS and that sucks, but he made it, after another full year in the AHL. It took alot longer than anyone though, and he is a far better player at the same age ad Dahlen. Tons of examples. I can bring them all day.
  9. When OJ was drafted the knock on him was how long he would take to develop. The consensus was that he was blue chip otherwise. His injury history is not good, but not bad either IMO. His injuries, both his back and knee can be attributed to training issues off the ice. Both were nagging style injuries, were things got progressively worse, not a clear incident with an sudden inability to move a joint or major trauma. He is young, very young and still physically maturing. This is also what he needs to do to make the NHL. He is going to physically mature whether he is playing this year or not. By reducing the strain, wear and tear of a grinding pro hockey season, his body will have a time to adjust and repair. He will be rusty to start, that's expected when he comes back, but he isnt going to forget how to pass, shot or skate. He will have the time to learn how to train for his body, what works for him without the push of an up coming game etc. Shutting him down for a season might be the absolute best thing possible. Let him eat his mom's cooking and work up a hunger to get back on the ice.
  10. Wow, With an sense of entitlement like that, how can you coach him? He already knows everything he needs to know... give him the Hart and put his name on the cup. He has earned it! If this is his response, he should stop talking for a while, until say he turns 30, then he can have interviews where he remembers what a young cocky pos he was. If he had the play to back up his words, he would be EP40, he is no EP40.
  11. Some sand paper. IMO a like shake is in order. IMO Bo could use a skill player and maybe load up the top line Brock, Bo and EP40 together, Put Goldy with Pearson and Gaudette or Granlund. Lievo, The other G center and Sutter, Roussel, Beagle and Motte. What the heck, we are struggling and sometimes change is good.
  12. Sarcasm doesn't translate. I was having some fun. From your user name, is it safe to assume that your Swedish? Dahlen is a young player whom I think wasnt happy and showed that he wastn happy. He has skill but, and this is important, he has had a brief time in North America and he hasn't done great. He has been okay, but in the AHL, okay isnt going to win you a roster spot in the NHL. 5v5 his production is poor, but he is a rookie here. IMO he needs time to improve aspects of his game to play in the NHL. His skating is number one. He or his agent is not being honest. Dahlen's agent, JP Barry is on the record of requesting or inquiring about a trade. Dahlen has denied this. Someone in Dahlen's camp is not being honest. This is a mistake. When the management found a rookie with mediocre rookie season (not bad, but meh) having his agent complain and request a trade... management decided to get rid of a potential problem. It too bad, but such is life. Dahlen was highly thought of, his character seemed unimpeachable after his season last year in Trimra.
  13. What.... So ' suck it up mentality' sorry buttercup, sometimes you actually have to put the work in and earn it. 'Man managers' real men dont need managers, they can manage themselves. 'Mindless drones' or hard working players that skate to the hard areas of the ice and play solid north south hockey. If I wanted creativity I would go to art school.
  14. Yup... the injury bug has struck again. This is as bad as November. Tough to overcome. The fat lady hasnt sung yet, but she is warming up her vocals.
  15. I would say your right, we are not making the playoffs. Edler getting hurt is always bad for us, then Tanev goes down are we have and AHL defence. Beiga has played well, but Hutton.ans Stecher are struggling against top lines. This also kills offence and I dont find it odd that our only offence of late has come from the Horvat line.
  16. True. Hughes could struggle to adjust and Green could struggle adjusting too. I dont see it. Hughes is a rink rat, his skating is just dynamic and our team has no one providing much if any puck movement from the back end. Stecher is a the closest player to Hughes in terms of this and it isnt going to be close. I am excited to see what he can do in the NHL. My biggest concern for him is stamina. Most college players aren't prepared for the NHL grind. Is Green ready for a rover? Can Hughes recover from losing the puck on rush at the NHL level? Is he going to be forced to simplify his game. Hard to say. He is like having Bure as a d man. He will give the coach fits, but can Green let that ride if the results are positive, mostly.
  17. Luke has a audition to earn a deal for next year. Alot more than he had 2 months ago. He wont likely get another and all he has to do is keep things simple and be physical. He could be a great reclamation project that addresses the reason Guddy was traded for in the first place. We need some vets that can be stable partners for our young guys. We need some physical defense men and we aren't going to break the bank 9n Schenn. Hope he can make the most of this opportunity.
  18. With Guddy Pitsburg got a guy who can neutralize Wilson. They need that if they have any hope of going deep this year. With Pearson, we get a guy who can play north south game on the left side with playoff experience. With better minutes and hopefully some chemistry he can get back a 20g guy. Both are needs for each club and both players needed a change. As for McCann. 5 goals in 13 games. Okay, but not great. Could we use him, sure, but is he replaceable, yes. Gaudette looks much better IMO and can also play left wing. We have a lot of middling players like McCann atm. Pearson at least has the cup winning background. I seem remember LA squeaked into their first cup run as the 8th seed. Not saying, but just saying..
  19. Exactly.... JP Barry already admitted that he asked for a trade... Dahlen's agent, yet Dahlen denied this. So the issue isnt on the nucks. If your JB and looking long term, do you want a rookie's agent coming to you asking for a trade. Sure Dahlen has skill, he has also not the best skater and lacks size. Is he NHL ready now, not really. One or two more years, yeah he could be. Baer and Granlund come to mind. Was there a problem.... yes, was it Dahlen or his agent. Most likely his agent, JP Barry has stirred up issues before in Vancouver. Too bad, Dahlen has a good rep and this looks like entitlement. Goldy is a similar player skill wise but has Larionov as his agent. He has the right motivation and shows that it takes time to get there, same with Granlund and Baer. Maybe Dahlen should get a new agent.
  20. Karlsson seems to be stuck in a Jasek type situation. The team was relegated last year and is deeper than many in the league. Karlsson is able to cross the pond and has 2 years to develop to catch up with Dahlen. If he can be a Sami Pahlson type of center in 2-3 years that would be a good move. Hard to say at the moment. His draft year numbers in the Super Elit were eye catching. He may have un tapped offensive abilities. After Gaudette, Madden and EP40, this club has had a knack at finding amature centers with upside. Not so much with LW...
  21. Believe what you need too... since your convinced, care to share why... MacEwan, Demko, Brisbiois, Gaudette, Lind, Gads, Saunter and Biega are all proof that Utica is toxic.... Guess they all must be begging for a trade.
  22. Maybe the Canucks scouts felt that Linus was a sleeper and mich better than Dahlen. They saw an opportunity to snag Linus and took it. JB's amature scouting has been top tier, added to this, Dahlen is also in a good spot, so no harm.
  23. So.... the whole organization was bereft of talent and depth. BTW, Markstrom and Green spent alot fo time in Utica. Jake spent alot of time in Utica. Gaudette has some games down there. Beige, Sautner and Brisbiois are Utica Alumni. Gaunce was a Utica regular and is again. MacEwan looks poised to become an NHL regular. OJ, Woo, Lind, Gads will have all honed their skill and gained experience in the AHL if they are to make the team. Are you saying Utica has no value or that JB drafts so well that most of his picks go straight to the NHL?
  24. Palmu was a 7th round OA player. He has a very very slight chance of playing his way out of the AHL. Europe makes a ton more sense for him than the ECHL. Dahlen felt he was due NHL time. Management felt he needed to spend more time in the AHL. How that all broke down is beyond my knowledge, but the club elected to trade him for another prospect they liked alot. I dont see this as smoke. If the club decided that Dahlen didnt fit their plans, for what ever reason, they did the right thing and found him a team that he has connections too. The value of the deal seems fair and I don't see either prospect as being mis treated. Not everyone is going to be happy having to earn minutes, fight the grind of the AHL when they are heroes elsewhere.
