Honestly, you di realize that OJ is only 20 years old. He needs surgery, I am sure no one is more upset that he is losing a year than him. Injuries happen and they can derail anyone career. That being said, no where has anyone said that OJ wont make a full recovery. The guy was drafted 2.5 years ago and everyone wants to call him a bust. FFS get over yourselves. The only thing anyone is pissed about as they wanted Matt. So what, we have Boeser. Our top forwards are Bo Elias and Brock, whom I like a whole bunch more than Sean, Johnny and Matt. We stole Baer off them and Granlund. What we dont have is a solid defence. To get one you have to draft defense. This year is proving that need more than ever. Our forwards and Goaltending has been good, but our defence is constantly getting bailed out. When that changes by adding guys like OJ, Hughes and Woo we will be contenders.

Nedved had a good to great career. He will always be the guy taken ahead of Jagr, to bad.
-
Woo is in the same mix as Ty Smith, yet is physically tough, great shooting, fast skating and very hard hitting guy. Hughes will be a steal of a gift at 7, but Woo will end up being one of the steals of the draft. His injury let him fall. Based on this seasons play, I think he would have been top 15 worthy last year. A Hughes Woo pairing could be a fixture in a few years. Getting a top d pairing in a draft with only using 2 picks, impressive.

The most outstanding stat line for EP40 is his 28%sp. 82 shots and 23 g. On pace for 45 over 82 games.
-
Well someone missed out on Pastrnak. Glad that changes were made and we didn't miss out on EP40. Easily as good as a player.
-
Boston scouted Pastrnak, JB was obviously familiar with Bostons draft plan. I often wonder if JB was allowed to be hired in Vanvouver with an agreement not to take players on Bostons list. Pure speculation, but he was hired two weeks prior to the draft, no way he doesn't know who Boston was after.
-
Jake is a player, ollie will be too. Not as good as where they were picked, but JB has stolen 2 drafts out if 5, maybe 3 when the dust settles and has two underwhelming players but players from the 2 out if 5 drafts. Is that a .750 average? I would say so.

In fairness to the lofty expectations of Hughes, those are based on the same info that EP40 and Boeser had. They were highly successful against older players and Hughes did.make the men's world cup roster... not exactly unfounded. As for players like Lind etc... they have time and the Canucks have a good development system. Players like Lind will become the difference makers to whether this team has long term success ala the old Detroit model, or, flame in and out like the old Canucks model. Hughes is simply on a much higher level than any player on the Comets roster.

Almost forgot about this guy. Would like to see him back one day playing with some intensity. If he can manage that he could turn things around.
-
Hughes is a playmaker, for sure. He hopefully develops a better shot to add too the package. Hughes needs a partner with size and a shot.
-
Come on dude. Take a stand as a fan. We shall see? Thats like screaming "could go either way, I am not sure about success, but not certain of failure, I dont know and have no certainty of being right so I won't comment outcome!!!!!!!!" Hughes is going to be game changing for our defence. We have high expectations because he warrants them.

The decline and fall of the Roman empire is a book that echoes of time past can be seen in the events of today. I often wonder if, with the unprecedented access to information, the human race would be able to overcome its worst aspects and then I see the footage of a Trump rally. We are witnesses to the end of and era. The only question is what comes after it.

Dont know about that. Technically I sit on the board of a corporation. I have a title and everything. I get paid in chocolate, espresso and smoothies. The gap between rich and poor has increased tenfold. The average CEO makes 400 times that of the average worker in NA. 20 years ago that was about 10 times. My wages have stagnated. I dont get cost of living increases and that is the norm. In the US it is far worse. Added to that companies can declare pensions as assets and cooperate raiders, sorry, hedge fund managers, can take over these companies, steal, legally the pension funds of thousands and give it to themselves, then sell off the remains for pennies on the dollar and take away thousands of jobs. America is not a meritocracy, it is a class society with elites. The fact that Ivy league schools exist in the first place supports this premise.

They also cost alot more and have legacy spots. So if your a rich idiot, you can go to almost any Ivy league school. Many folks who dont have the cash or family connections dont have a chance, even with better grades. It is not completey merit based unless you are looking at scholarship students. Added to that those students that do get accepted on merit rub shoulders with the sons and daughters of the wealthiest and the most connected people in the US. They have alot better chances of getting hired in those fortune 500 companies upon graduation than equally capable students that go to other schools.

Most of Hughes's bad habits are the type of plays that will get coaches out of him at the next level. Hughes is taking too much on. But the US team isnt playing great hockey either.
-
I am confident that coach Green will have him playing better defense. As the season progresses and Quinn gets closer to his NHL debut, having the right d partner for him is becoming my number one want for this team. Seeing how Baer recovers will show what kinda trading depth we may have. If a move can be made to build a pairing around Hughes, we would be complete wild cards. Hopefully the club is send Trymakin videos of Hughes and highlighting the opening on his right side.

He needs a dependable two way guy with a booming shot and size. Maybe he can use Guddy.... 1.5 out of 3 isnt bad. Guddy has the size and does have a hard shot. He plays a more stay at home style. Guddy can also skate well for a.big guy. He did well with Campbell in Florida. It is the easiest option. I would like a player that is more skilled, but I would be very happy having Guddy shred anyone taking a run at Quinn.

Age doesn't have as much of an impact as size and strength in the younger levels in almost any sport. I started shaving at 13, played mens league sports by 15/16. I could woop nearly anyone my age back then, cause I had a heavier build and was very strong for my age. Boqvist and Hughes have nearly the exact same dimensions and weight... I even think Boqvist might be the larger of the two. The advantages 10 months holds at that level isn't to do with smarts, abilities or intelligence. Boqvist isnt going to magically do anything a quantum leap better at 17 than he will at 18. They're ten months apart as nearly full adults, not new borns. One doesn't have any outrageous physical ability over the other. If Hughes was 6'2 and 200lbs to Boqvist, then it would matter more. Added to that, had Boqvist made the swedish men's world cup team as a legit player, would that not be relevant to his abilities and development to date? You betcha!! The only other player to achieve that that year was Dahlin, except he went to the Olympics. I am not putting Boqvist down with that comparison. A tad but reactionary on your part.

5th, I was asked one question about kieth that I haven't responded to yet. I dont like MT, and never wanted him in Vancouver preceding the draft. Yes I think his dad was an ass... I think MT is just like his dad. It is my and was my main issue with the player. Its not fake news, it called my opinion, not news and not fake. So stop deflecting, deal with your own $&!#, I can more than handle mine.
-
This is the part about the 5th I find too. The sourness when one or more of his statements get fed back to him as, to say it politely, disputable, he goes sour. Shades of Trump there with the fake news.... stay classy.
