  1. In the Comets division Rochester probably gained the most when the NHL season ended. Syracuse and Toronto will have to wait until their parent teams are eliminated before getting restocked but Syracuse gained a big addition in Cal Foote who looked real good against the Comets last weekend. But I do agree with your statement that it isn't just the Comets that add players just before the AHL players.
  2. No confirmation of a concussion or how long Big Mac will be out for other than listed as week to week. Certainly looked like a concussion though.
  3. Has there been any talk of Juolevi joining the Comets after TPS is eliminated? Both Benning and Linden have specifically mentioned Dahlen coming over but I don't remember hearing them mention Olli. The Comets defense is banged up right now and could use him.
  4. I thought he looked good but there were a couple things that stood out to me. First he was noticeably winded at the end of a few shifts kinda like Virtanen was when he first came up from juniors in 2015. Kole needs to adjust to the faster pace and of course they played the Marlies who push the pace all game long. Tonight will be the third game in three days so it will be interesting to see what he has left in the tank. Second thing is he needs better line mates. Kole was out there with Carcone who is a puck hog and poor passer and Wacey Hamilton who is a 4th line grinder with very little puck skills. Carcone is great for one or two highlight reel rushes with the puck a game but other than that he plays with no structure and is out of sync with the other four guys on the ice. Carcone and Lind had a 2 on 0 after a Marlies turn over at the blue line and Kole was in a perfect position for a tap in goal but instead of passing Carcone shoots high and wide missing the net by about two feet. Lind looked like has has good offensive instincts but needs to be on a line with players that can get him the puck.
  5. Here are two good interview articles although in the first one where Steve Carlson remembers fans throwing folding chairs on the ice wasn't the Utica AUD but rather the Clinton Arena which is the original home of the Clinton Comets the namesake of the current Comets. http://www.uticaod.com/x810163924/Slap-Shot-Hanson-Brother-Steve-Carlson-Remembers-Shooting-Film-In-Utica-35-Years-Ago http://www.uticaod.com/x914048875/Part-2-Slap-Shots-Dave-Hanson-Recalls-Johnstown-Jets-Visits-To-Utica-Returning-To-Home-Of-Charlestown-Chiefs
  6. I was a teenager and went with my father. The pregame fight and National Anthem scenes were filmed in Utica. The two things that stick in my mind the most was the first cut of the pregame brawl they did not tell the crowd what was going to happen so they got the crowd's natural reaction. Then for the national anthem the actor that played the referee couldn't skate and kept falling down. When you look at the scene where he skates back to the Hansons during the anthem you never actually see him skate. Great movie and much of it was based on actual events. The scene where the Hanson brothers climbed over the glass to fight the fans was filmed in Syracuse but it was based on a real event in Utica where the Carlson brothers from the Johnstown Jets climbed over the glass and were arrested after the game. I was at that game too. Old time hockey....
  7. That photo was taken at the Utica AUD and I was in there as part of the crowd scenes
  8. First period just ended. He looked ok. Nothing jumped out at me good or bad.
  9. 11 am ET. The game is in Toronto and is one of several school day games that they do for bus loads of kids on a "field trip".
  10. This game is being broadcast on the NHL Network. Do you guys have access to it or is it only available in the US?
  11. Well said by @Rob_Zepp and @SID.IS.SID.ME.IS.ME Just because someone tries to pull back on the hype and point out areas where a prospect needs further development doesn't mean that they are tearing the kid down. Just setting realistic expectations. Many on here will disagree with me but I also do not think Thatcher Demko is ready to be full time in the NHL at this point and needs more time in the AHL next season. There are still areas of his game that need to be worked on in practice and applied during games and he needs to play in enough games so show consistent improvement. I'll add that I am neither hating on Thatcher or selfishly wanting to see him stay in the AHL. I think that is what's best for his development.
  12. That was a Travis Green thing. Heck he still doesn't like to play Ben Hutton.
  13. The Comets roster is being held together by duct tape and band aids...aka PTOs. Unless Lind and Jasek completely fall on their faces I expect them to be a part of the Comets line up in the playoffs. I think the days of not playing late season junior additions to the line up ended when Travis Green moved up to Vancouver.
  14. Another Tweet said he was practicing with Chaput and Tanner MacMaster. After looking at that video again the does look like the three players in white.
  15. It would be nice if they did a better job identifying which one is Lind since they don't have numbers on the practice jerseys. There was another Tweet that said Lind was in white so I assume he is the player that took the shot towards the end of the video.
  16. He does not. His NHL ELC doesn't start until next season.
  17. The AHL season lasts a full week longer than the NHL. The Comets final regular season game ends on April 15 and the playoffs will start sometime between the 18th and 20th.
  18. I have a problem posting tweets when using my laptop but it always works fine when using the phone. Haven't figured out why.
  19. Looks like Demko is heading back to Utica which is a smart move. Got his NHL game in and showed what he needs to work on and coming back early enough to get refocused.
  20. The hit in that clip is actually Molino hitting Joe Whitney. That is what lead to the Molino fight. The hit that MacEwen was injured on was a neutral zone open ice hit. Big Mac has a bad habit of skating through the neutral zone with his head down and 90% of the players in the AHL do not take advantage of a vulnerable player like that but there are a few that will.
  21. All three were brought in for just the game in Springfield yesterday from nearby Worcester. One a goaltender to back up Bachman. A forward because MacEwen was injured on Friday and a defenseman because Wierchioch was injured on Friday.
  22. Gave up two goals before the Spits had their first shot. Gotta love the kid's heart but his knee may still be bothering him.
