  1. Just looking for an opinion...They're re-making Annie for the big screen.. But the entire cast is...African American. I am not racist by any measure but the very idea of this is rather offensive. Liberties being taken are all well and good but let us be honest. Annie is a frigging ginger and Daddy Warbucks is a greasy looking old white guy. Jamie Foxx as Daddy Warbucks? I am really struggling with this

Annie was about orphans, which come in all colors. Roots was about slavery...

JayZ will be doing the music apparently...and Biz, no those are stand alone movies. We are talking about re-making a historical classic. Nothing ludicrous about that comparison. Imagine the outcry if this was done. Some things should just not be left open to change. Annie IS written as a white kid with freckles and curly red hair. Shaft is written as a black male, Roots is written as....so again imagine if Shaft was remade with Jim Parsons (Sheldon cooper)

Roots AND Annie are works of fiction and open to interpretation. So why can't we change the colour of the cast? I'm half native, why not do roots with first nations individuals? Why not do Shaft as an Asian Male? I struggle to come to grips with Hollywood changing things so radically when the characters appearances are set in stone.
