  1. As a first nations person I am fully aware of this. We're talking about a system wide reset though; because at this point nothing else will change it. We can prevent it. Yes. But for how long? We continue, as a people; to get promised help. Decades later and numerous governments we've seen no change. There's no will to change it all. What is it like to continually get promised hope, change and help. Only to see it never arrive and then be ostracized because of it for simply asking where the promised help was that we'd been waiting for. Without a full reset from the floor to the ceiling about this, and mental health as a whole in this nation. What you suggest; will never come to pass.
  2. My equating is far from it. Why do we afford animals more dignity than people? Your 14 year old study and highlighted statement I might ONLY indicates that by taking away the single easiest mode of suicide that rates dropped. It literally only suggests that by making it more difficult people instead do other things. That it is in the heat of the moment they do these things. it's impulsive. it doesn't mean for a second things dropped. Give them the means and they'll do it. It's literally like taking heroin away from a heroin addict. Now they can't do it because their option is gone. Give them access to heroin again and let's all go down together. England changed coal fired ovens for gas. Numbers dropped 30% immediately. Haven't dropped since. Picking up what I'm putting down? Taking away the means does not mean the actual rates have dropped. They've only been suppressed. As for my statement about spaying people; it tracks very clearly with my statement about giving animals who are in pain or literally just not wanted more dignity and options than those humans seeking the same. It's amusing how people pick and choose what is or is not acceptable based on not only species but also opinion. We have 8 billion people on this planet. People will still continue to commit suicide. They will still do drugs. They will still get abortions. No matter how many studies are dredged up from whoever writes them for whatever reason. Ban drugs? Ya that worked. Take away one simple and literally easy means of suicide in your own home? Darn but look...the numbers don't drop further afterwards; ban abortions. Well I know a guy in an alley. Just because you suggest that taking away the means equates to a drop in the numbers doesn't mean that people aren't still considering it or wanting to do it. As a person who has buried close to a near dozen people in his life to suicide. Trust me, pills and booze. Cars in garages with hoses in the exhaust. Ropes in garages. Razors in a bathroom. Small mountains of blow. A shotgun or rifle. They'll still get it done. Give people the option to choose their own time and place. They deserve it.
  3. We literally euthanize cats and dogs just for the sole reason that NOBODY wants them. We force people suffering from any number of reasons from health to mental to exist in pain and misery. Neglected, derided and often times cast down by society out of ignorance and apathy. I much prefer cats and dogs to people; but shouldn't we just at this point; with almost 8 BILLION people on this planet, people to choose their time? These individuals will take their lives one way or another if it is within their power; many times leaving it to family members and some times children to discover. Traumatizing them for life. I say if we can not spay or neuter people we at least give them the option of bowing out of this life with some modicum of integrity.
  4. If we're drafting 14th I'm looking at Arizona for their picks in the 2nd round and I think 26th or 29th. I have a feeling due to Russia's issues and now the draft that players will be very much second look instead of first choice. We could easily grab some amazing fallers by adding 3 picks in the late 1st to early 2nd
  5. Yay!!!! More variants for everyone
  6. April 12th will be mighty interesting for the US and the 20th for us. Can't wait to see the next CPI's Will be a very very interesting week.
  7. https://canucksarmy.com/2022/04/02/canucks-sign-ncaa-player-marc-gatcomb-ahl-contract-brings/ Canucks sign 22-year-old NCAA winger Marc Gatcomb to AHL contract: Here’s what he brings APRIL 2, 2022, 10:00 AM | FABER The Abbotsford Canucks continue to add depth to their lineup with the signing of the University of Connecticut left-winger Marc Gatcomb. After four years at UConn, the 6’2″ winger is moving on to professional hockey. Gatcomb had eight goals and 13 assists in 36 games with the Huskies this season. He played on their first line late in the season after working his way up the lineup throughout the year.
  8. So you're saying Boudreau is going to win a cup next year and retire? I like it.
  9. Baldy has lines laid out from around 1996 that were never built for up to a dozen new runs. New ownership has the money and grids laid out so Baldy is an investment for sure. Not a super challenging hill but decent in its own way and anything bought there now is going to be a great investment
  10. Canucks Army detailing a potential shorter term higher cap contract. Yikes https://canucksarmy.com/2022/04/01/five-year-high-salary-bonus-extension-is-the-canucks-keeping-jt-miller/
  11. You'd be right. Apex lots, places start at $400k now. I always suggest Baldy for cost.
  12. Would HEAVILY depend on the picks coming back. I'd be interested in talking to Arizona and or Montreal about one of their later firsts and a few of their second round picks. If we had say pick 15 and could trade the ducks for say pick 21, 34 and 58. I'd consider it. or the 14th or 15th pick to the habs for picks 27, 52 and 63. I'd consider it. Maybe the Yotes. Pick 15 for picks picks 28, 39 and 43. Has to be worth it. My belief is with the issues in Russia right now with what they're doing in Ukraine, and the newly instituted draft a good number of young russian players will slide like mad and be available in the late 1st through 2nd rounds. THAT would be the motivation for trading for multiple early 2nd and a late 1st. Imagine Yurov and Perevalov with our late 1st and early 2nd. OOoohhhh baby I'd still be more inclined to trade Pettersson and a + to the Habs for the 1st overall pick and draft Shane Wright. Retain Miller for a few more years and then go hard for the next season on what we have. Win or lose and if we look like we're falling apart trade miller at next TDL and see if we can go find our own Connor in the 2023 draft You know, since we're just playing here.
  13. I'd be hard pressed not to see him brought back. Boudreau for a full season to start this year has this team in the playoffs almost without question.
  14. JR has stated he wants to cook prospects for a time in the AHL for over development. His history indicates that this will be the norm. I have few doubts if he is retained for any amount of time we're gonna see him playing the next few seasons for development in a mens league.
  15. As an RHD prospect I am intensely intrigued by this kid. He is also 4 points in 5 games of this years playoff for the HC J20 and is far from a small boy at 6 foot 2 inches and almsot 190 pounds. we know european players on average tend to fill out far more than NA players due to their not being such gym rats so we could see a 200+ pound RHD in a seasons time without much question.
  16. Anyone who wouldn't immediately take that top row of players in any combination is lying.
  17. I thought we had him for next season regardless.
  18. Those prices will only increase with what's happening in China, with food, fertilizer, fuel. 30% since September, with another 30% not even remotely out of the question. We are holding off on all of our renos. did the back yard and are just holding. While I try to convince the wife that selling and holding the cash isn't the worst idea I again, just can not see how it is sustainable to see such massive increases. We agree, it's what the market will bare. Ok. but what happens when the market now dictates the pace and price because it's out of control? What happens when people are forced without choice; to buy in because the option is homelessness? For me this again all comes down to the person, consumer. I no longer believe it is what the market will bare, but what the market will demand. That game is stupidly addicting and I am shockingly good at it. No...reason why
  19. I think you and myself and a few others have had discussions about the party ending here and there before. Continuing to push the party to another venue or a later hour and never ending it. It has to end some time and usually when parties that long end, the hangover is violent. I can't see how it sustainable and if there's another reason to print money; how it doesn't finally collapse The thing is, aren't we seeing the same issues that we saw in the 70's that lead to a lot of the issues with hyper inflation and 20% ish interest rates in the 80's? Housing. Energy. Inflation. Supply issues. The issues of the 80's were a decade in the making. Any level of government intervention will only make things worse. The intervention in the real estate markets might be part of it. Conflict in Ukraine another. They have been quick yes. But, 2 weeks or 6. Another break in the chain with a virus this transmissible will still be a serious issue because 2 weeks and 3 cities could turn in to 60 weeks and a dozen cities very quickly. We're already suffering under the lack of goods and supply. The relaxing of those laws or regulations has no doubt caused a lot of issues allowing others to continue the excess that lead to 2008. The alarm bells were loud and frequent and then those people were finding themselves replaced at their positions. I wonder why? So that's just banks at a 33:1 ratio? what about people? What happens when consumers finally run out? With $1.70+ owed for every dollar brought in on credit alone; without mortgage, lines of credit or reverse home loans factored in what happens to them when they default en masse? I know full well banks and business will be protected. But what about the little guys who were forced or exceeded their abilities to borrow? BOJO and the US eliminated much of those checks and balances. The regulations that were repealed were pretty important to that if I recall. Some of the loudest people in the industry/government found their positions replaced quickly for sounding the alarms over it. To me that sounds a lot like shhhhh let it happen. $450 billion would be a MASSIVE hit. See below China may not let them fail. But we have another issue here. While the Evergrande situation will no doubt cost people money, they as you said; will not fail. We have Zillow and about a dozen other digital property purchase/investment groups. Zillow alone worth over $12 billion; possibly thousands of homes/assets. Almost a dozen small yet comparable companies now. Out of 2008 almost 100 US based companies like the one that just failed in Sask exist as "manager owners" and the Sask one was 500 ish properties. One hard bump and thousands or tens of thousands of properties will hit the market in the US. That sask company has 500 ish alone here in canada and some realtors are worried about that volume hitting the market in one shot. We're a different beast than China in good and some...shall we say questionable ways The thing is, as I said above. Doesn't that party have to end eventually? Who gets left holding the bag for clean up? Again. for me the fear isn't business or government. It's for the people. What happens if they can't consume anymore? I love having these talks. I am so ignorant of a lot of this because it's well outside of my wheelhouse but learning is fun!
  20. If you wanna think outside of the box, trade Petersson and a + if needed for this years 1st overall in Shane Wright. Nothing against Pettersson but he's already showing he's not the sturdiest guy
  21. Reminder:  Ovechkin; at age 36, needs 8 goals in 14 games to tie Gretzky and Bossy for most 50 goal seasons in a career at 9.  Had 2020 not been cut short due to covid; he would be approaching a record setting 10th season with 50 or more goals.

@-AJ- Well, Howe has 22 seasonw tih 20+ goals so Ovechkin will be playing until he's 43 at LEAST if he wants all the goal scoring records so maybe we see him break that 31 goal mark too at age 41 ;)

    3. MikeBossy

      MikeBossy

Just so people understand how pure a goal scorer Mike Bossy was he is still the only player with 9 Consecutive 50 goal seasons and also has the highest goals per game at .762

With that said Ovi is an absolute beast as well!

@MikeBossy No argument at all.  I have and still call Bossy the best pure goal scorer ever based on his goals per game.  he was essentially the end all be all and if it wasn't for that short career who knows where he'd have gone.  he only played 750 games in the league but had 1126 points with 573 of those being goals.  He did much of that with a degenerative back issue.  If he had the medical tech we did today and was able to play more than 1400 games he'd probably be a top 5 all time easily.

  22. It was kind of designed that way wasn't it? One of the most vicious take downs I've seen in recent memory was a local town council meeting where some blue hair was whining about the Liberals and a younger gal stood up and told her if she didn't like the way things work that she shouldn't have voted for it when she was her age. That much of the issues people of the older generation are complaining about are issues they created. To be fair, she wasn't exactly wrong. But this is something that would need to be done pro-actively because once a crash or correction happens these homes/units/complexes will go en masse to companies like Zillow and iSales.
