You're suggesting said individual would think for their own self When opinion and conjecture as well as conspiracy meet partisanship, there's no changing of minds.
-
Yup. Still not mature enough to be sitting at this table

Almost everything you have said is little more than rhetoric and completely opinion based BS and shows you know nothing of how our government works. EVERYTHING since Covid started has been mandated by multi party support thus ensuring the majority of Canadians are represented. Your claims of intloerance are baseless, your cherry picked statements have been so oft disproved as to be just annoying now. Honestly, until you're ready to accept your limitations in this argument by admitting you don't understand what you're talking about because you don't have that basic understanding of how our government works or why specific measures were enacted; maybe you should sit this one out until you've completed a remedial social studies course about our nation.

Wtf Is This Tripe

My wife found a position similar to hers that pays almost $15k a year more at a local company. She is the sole/single billing agent for the entire BC region for Telus security. She literally deals with billing, invoicing and basic accounting and has forwarded her request for a pay increase to her manager. They literally have nobody in BC that does her job as their Alberta contingent is 14 different people. if she walks, the entire BC billing department falls apart with her. The last time she requested an increase in pay, she was denied. It will be interesting to see what happens now.
-
I only ask because my wife is and has been with the same company (Telus) for years after her company was bought by them. Her average, annual increases are honestly less than 1.6% and she has looked and can start a new position, same work in a different company; corporation with benefits for almost $14k more a year. There's a lot of stories floating out around just that in which people giving years aren't getting anything back so they risk their job security for more pay and it either works out; or it doesn't and it leaves people jobless without benefits. So my question about it being across the board, is; is it really that universal? I know that my wifes annual increases seem to be in keeping with inflation but they're really not. For fixed mortgages, I am 100% locked in for another 4 years and was hoping to be able to renegotiate this year but couldn't. Am not allowed. Will be very interesting seeing where people are in regards to their mortgages and these price increases. Day to day as well as month to month With BC Ferrys, 100% I'd be taking that job. It's honestly not a hard position. I know a number of people who work it and while it's not the "greatest" paying, there are major breaks for using the ferry system for them, government position which includes all the associated benefits and ATO's as well as some of the best year to year wage increases.
-
But have those wages really been rising across the board or is it just new hires etc? I'm trying to be positive and optimistic about things but it really seems like that perfect storm is just over the horizon.

with how dramatically fuel prices have risen, I can see food prices following very quickly. it's those extra day to day costs, not the month to month I am wondering about. The sudden surge of things and sustained increases without reduction in prices is what I have questions about. I feel as though an additional 2% is more than reasonable but with these extra costs is it enough to break people? Gas has retreated almost what, $37? but at the pumps it has dropped barely 5 cents. Those costs will be passed on in a big way.
-
Do you see the potential for major or massive amounts of defaulted debt, foreclosures in the next 2 quarters with these increases and the price of fuel and food skyrocketing?
-
I can see numerous food related restrictions being rescinded again. Like day old baked goods going to soup kitchens again and vehicle killed large game being quartered for food banks like in the past.
-
What, in your opinion; with the massive increase of 60 cents a litre at the pump with nil reduction, coupled with the rise in food prices; is our most logical next step regarding inflation? Do you think the government steps in harder? Do we see a series of sudden hikes? Or will this be enough to start that chain reaction over the next 6 weeks so many have feared will happen? I ask as a genuine source of curiosity because after 1 small rate hike; people are already worried because an estimated 82k mortgages are due for renewal in Canada within the next 2 financial quarters and we're less than 5 months from property taxes being due. This is without mentioning how many "reverse home mortgages/loans" are potentially due as well. All this on the backs of major credit operators such as Visa and Mastercard reportedly in trouble due to defaults on mandatory minimum payments. Like, what kind of steps or potential tumbles can we expect?

So I had to share this in the appropriate place. @nuckin_futz posted this elsewhere regarding wheat/fertilizer and potential food issues. I felt that this is appropriate to continue this conversation here. For the first time in my adult life I am genuinely concerned about things from a purely economic stand point for the average person. I hate to say this but I've actually bought a bunch of yeast and flour to start making my own bread. I've also bought a fair amount of oats to supplement. $5 loaves of bread and $8 heads of lettuce I was saying about 3 weeks ago. I might have been generous with that. The bigger issue here in canada is how this potential food inflationary issue also ties in to current existing economic crisis' I will use Penticton as my metric. Our post tax median income in penticton is only $2300 or less per month. Our average priced 1 bedroom is now approaching $1500. This is without the included utilities and essentials such as gas, cell/phone, internet, insurance etc. When we then factor in a potential 30% increase in basic food costs as well as watching fuel spike almost 60 cents a litre with zero reductions since oil fell again; we know full well what the inevitable outcome is. It was barely 8 months ago that saw Canadians owing $1.71 for every dollar earned per person. Less than 14 months ago when a report said most Canadians were only about $240 a month in increased costs from potential insolvency/bankruptcy This would be the full tilt catalyst from any essential PEST analysis that sees every major factor of concern in play. Pay off your debts people.

How did JR/PA do on TDL 2022? (10 being best, 1 being worst)

The one thing I can't understand at all is the angst and hate over Motte being traded. Could we have done better than a 4th? Maybe. Did anyone offer more? Probably not. he just turned 27, is/was frequently injured. While absolutely one of my favourite players he is not one I would ever pay more than $2 million for and is almost absolutely replaceable during free agency or within our system in the next season or two. We do not sit and complain about over paying guys like Poolman, Dickinson etc then suggest we lost out by not offering a 4th line player with a history of injuries better than $2+ million without looking hypocritical. I love Motte, he might be able to be obtained in free agency or he might not. but he is not someone I will lose much sleep over in the grand scheme of things. -
[Rumour] J.T. Miller Trade/Contract Talks

Wait, Kessel didn't move? THAT is possibly the most shocking thing of all. -

Regardless. Treading water is what we've done for about 7 or 8 years. We're in tight now to re-sign Boeser, either make an offer to Miller or move him, shore up that blue line and still re-stock the cupboards. By doing what we did, we didn't pick a direction. We didn't give the players any definitive answers except to suggest "go out and play it is what it is" and we didn't see management, all 17.4 of them; actually suggest there was an active or actual plan for the future in place. The person I responded to is right in that a lot of the angst possibly shown today is due to the lack of an actual direction or definitive plan from a group famous for making trades by the bucketload. We may NOT be in a rush to do anything at this point, but for a fan base that has literally seen this exact MO for almost 8 years; it is frustrating to have thought we'd be seeing anything different; only to receive more of the exact same. -

I'd agree with th sentiment here. Pick a direction and own it -
[Rumour] Canucks trying to trade Halak
Warhippy replied to VegasCanuck's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
People will argue this one to the end of the day. But halak had a block your trade card and obviously nobody lined up to try to make him want to use it. We were always going to be stuck with him. he made is bank for the year so he can be happy riding the pine and not having to worry about putting in an A game. After what we saw the other night, optics or reality, no team was going to jump up and make an effort to obtain a player after that body language was given.
