Intrinsic value yes. When you post their numbers in their respective leagues what makes B. Schneider more valuable or to appear to have more "potential" than Myrenberg except draft status and age? I know you don't get or won't get the point I am trying to make and that's fine. But there's no reason people should assume or claim Rathbone somehow has less value or potential than Schneider while producing far more consistently. That myrenberg and Schneider shouldn't have the same basic "potential" based on point totals and production. Schneider could be as much a vintage Seabrook as he could be a Brad Stuart. Nobody will ever be able to tell, not scouts or experts. By the same metric Myrenberg could be the next Lidstrom as much as he could be the next Roszival. With today's trade the value/bar has been set regarding Miller and Schneider should not be the centrepiece of that trade so much as he should be the addition or sweetener based on that application of thought. For reference https://thecanuckway.com/2021/09/18/canucks-fifth-round-pick-jonathan-myrenberg/

2014 NHL draft. Tell me about that top 15 vs players 6 players alone outside of the top 2 rounds that have triple digit point totals. 2012? 2016? Potential means diddly because all of these kids have that. But lately the top 15 is as surefire as the bottom 15 in some years. Schneider is as sure of a thing right now as Myrenberg, Rathbone, Juolevi etc. There's a point in time in which we need to drop the draft pedigree or draft ranking and just understand these are all kids with the exact possibility of succeeding as failing depending on how they translate at the NHL level.

[Rumour] J.T. Miller Trade/Contract Talks
Warhippy replied to Podzilla's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
That's nice Larry, Carolina, Washington, Florida and Tampa all want to enjoy that 1st round door mat you'll make to wipe their feet on. -
From what I understand he has a ceiling of Seabrook. A great 1b defenceman so long as he's paired with or beside a yearly norris candidate. Can put up 25-45 points in an average to good year but more importantly is 100% defensively responsible while his partner goes out and scores buckets. While that sounds amazing and is. It's more looking for the perfect partner for QH than it is that franchise 1 RHD

While people are drooling over B. Schneider from the NYR system, they are utterly sleeping on this kid. Better JR production, holding his own as an 18 year old in the SHL while playing and getting decent minutes doing it. I think people are sleeping on this kid while betting the farm on hoping for someone who is comparable.
-
What about a 6 foot 2 RHD that is only 18 years old? Scored a PPG in his jr league. Is in his 13th game in a mens league this season and is scoring not far below Schneider for point totals as an 18 year old as Schneider did at 20 in the AHL. Or...does Myrenberg not get the same level of "potential" while being 2 years younger and comparably producing/out producing B Schneider? We need to stop this kind of nonsense where we crap on our own prospects while elevating others. It's entirely toxic. Potential is potential regardless of pedigree.
-
I wonder what people would pay for a 5'10" LHD prospect scoring at a PPG . Or a 6'2" RHD that scored a PPG before moving in to a mens league and is now, while not scoring a top 4 on his team and arguably essential. These kids also have massive potential, one just turned 22 one is 18 still. Can we not tag them as future cornerstone franchise players? Both wildly outscored B. Schneider, both have potential.... But since they're named Rathbone and Myrenberg people will discount them in the same breath they elevate Schneider. I 100% agree with your statements and arguments good sir, they are grounded in common sense.

Miller is 21st in scoring as a C/W in the league. He has almost hit the 50 point mark. VS Tofolli who hasnt sniffed the 30 point mark. Tofolli is older, Miller is cost controlled for his contract for another full season. Tofolli does not play in an all situations type pace like Miller. Nor is he a leader, he's a 2nd line winger trending towards middle 6. Regardless of the extra year on his contract Miller is missing I feel as though if the return is not a combination of multiple 1st round picks, an established young player worth the name + an A+ prospect JR and the new management team will have completely failed in regards to RoA regarding Miller. Like it or not, call it fantasy if you'd like. The bar has just been set and established for trades this season. The Schneider/Lafrenier, 1st + Baron/Chytill/Kravtov + comments and dreams are now not only in the realms of believability but I dare say almost an expectation

Again, barring a miracle run that beggars even what St Louis did, we're not getting in. It's just not possible due to the games we've already played and who's ahead of us in the standing vs games at hand. When St Louis did it,they did it on the backs of a weak division that allowed them to sneak in. 2 years ago I'd have said sure it's possible but now....

What do you mean? Obviously the peloton bike killed my friend. They're obviously dangerous. Just like my other that got hit by a car after getting vaccinated. Obviously the vaccine caused him to get hit by the car, some sort of magnetic properties in it no doubt. or...are we not taking this approach to things of this nature because we're only applying specious arguments and anecdotal statements against vaccinated people? Whatever the case, I'll continue dipping my feet in as soon as you get off the ladder to the deep end.

Well I mean, I can always scroll back 100 pages or so and we can regurgitate this EXACT conversation, with the same anecdotal statements and same bs jargon much like I said we'd be doing later on. because at days end there's no new argument for you. You spout off the same oft disproved statements, get shown how wrong you are, get flustered, take off then come back a few days/weeks later and start repeating yourself. So in essence, I can in fact have this conversation with you by myself because by now we know exactly what statements you and yours will make and what avenues you'll take to make them. it's gotten old bud

[Rumour] Canucks interested in Pavel Zacha
Warhippy replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
For anyone old enough to remember. Zacha reminds me of Hanzal. Same big body, same skating, same potential same unwillingness to use that size. Hanzals claim to fame was essentially taking out the twins in one game. But otherwise effective 3rd line C to an extent for a few years in his career not much more -
Why....you did. Without actually saying it. You're suggesting it, so by your arguments you're saying it. Or at least that's the position you're taking with anyone having umbrage with protestors in Ottawa
