  1. Then shouldn't these misbegotten idiots with their hidden yellow vests be driving to regina? Edmonton? Victoria? You know. Provincial capitals to protest this instead of just Ottawa? Wait, no...no they wouldn't. Why? Because this is as equally about drumming up hate and support for a separatist movement as it is about truckers. You can't hate a Trudeau for a 5th and upcoming 6th decade if you don't foment anger where there literally should be none because it is not a federal issue
  2. What do you mean by this? Satire? I dare say it's actually welcomed almost everywhere. As for your 95% statement. feel brave speaking for 33 million people do you? Kind of feels like maybe you're wrong because this convoy is getting just as much heat and hate as it is ignorant cheers. Funny story, a gal I know; indigneous here in the Okanagan is all in support of this convoy and f*ck trudeau. I then pointed out that the organizers were people who made disparaging statements about running down protesters on wet su' wet 'en land and in Alberta when we protested for clean drinking water. She had no idea. The ignorance is astonishing when people tug emotional strings.
  3. Would it also not be naive to suggest that without any roster changes at all and only a coaching change, that the team wouldn't have seen the same success?
  4. And they said the same thing about a non lottery protected pick to the Avs. Eichel and his neck injury. Kessel and his contract. Hall for Larsson These trades happen ALL the time, and if you look at things, the Avs have less need of Byram with his concussion issues with Barron in the wings and Toews producing at a PPG clip
  5. I had to look at it to make sure it was right. But it's not terrible. I won't lump allvin in as the architect behind them,, but obviously in a team environment of scouts he has been part of a team that has found success outside of the 1st rounds.
  6. Think of which network it was and who the talking head was in question before claiming that. They had a dairy producer on speaking on terms of political science and a nail technician for vaccine mandates. Anyone is an expert to them if they fall in to the echo chamber
  7. Please see the above for Allvins record for drafting while part of the Habs/Pens
  8. Food for thought. If Boeser AND Miller are gone. Boeser Pick/prospect (possibly both from a hungry team) Miller Pick(s) player and prospect(s) This nets us a very healthy return in what people (are again, every year it seems) calling a deep draft. It also signals that they believe this team is not ready to compete which almost ensures we're drafting top 10 this and possibly next year. The retention of cap on Boeser and or Miller means we carry a small amount forward but also means we could in theory maximize the highest possible returns for both of them Us: back to back years of high picks again Them to us: 2/3 prospects, 2/3 picks, young player That's a two year retool/rebuild that stocks the cupboards, sheds some cap and allows Allvin/JR the ability to put their mark on the team immediately. During covid years with a minimal amount of cap increases no less which plays in our favour in a longer run. TLDR? If we toss both Boeser and Miller out and retain cap on both we can shed cap, obtain picks and also ensure our own picks will be high, like top 10 high for a year or two.
  9. 50,000 trucks. Average truck/trailer is 72 feet long. 72 x 50,000 is 3,600,000 feet. Converted in to kilometres that is 1097.28 kilometres. Regina Saskatchewan is 1347 kms from Ottawa Ontario. Just some food for thought when people make these idiot claims like poor concussed and abused Theo has done
  10. The thing is, we really don't have a lot of bad contracts on our team when you look at length, term and AAV. Much of our "bad contracts" hold shorter terms and no NMC/NTC issues. Which makes them very friendly in regards to someone like Boeser/Miller for teams to take on.
  11. Not necessarily. We have much of the same pieces in place as they did. We have less actual trade items though which is why the Boeser/Miller trades would need to be maximized for value in value out instances. Boeser pick/prospect or both Miller pick(s) Player Prospect(s) Obtaining the extra picks, prospects is what is essential. once those are in place and we start seeing a depth of value we can start making the retool adjustments as needed.
  12. Russias build up has taken months. People keep forgetting that Russia is essentially relegated to moving everything along one major rail route. Ukraine has plenty of AA support on the ground and enough smart missiles to take out that rail line in numerous areas. Weather the first wave and you knock out much of Russias ability to move arms in short order
  13. In fairness the last 3 retools I can think of that saw stars/youth out for in Pittsburgh St Louis LA Kings All won handily. Pitts picked up Bonino, Kessel etc. St Louis reformed most of their blue line, a forward and Oreilly. LA got major pieces in carter, gaborik etc. But, all of those teams HAD foundations in place well before their retools happened.
  14. I have a funny feeling Laffy won't be the 1st OA he was projected to be. maybe a 50-65 point winger, as such I'd dangle him for a guarantee now instead of hoping for the best later. The Habs need something to rally behind after the Bergevin/Mailloux issues, Price gone, Weber gone worst season in decades and an evident rebuild, like LONG rebuild ahead of them. Laffy is a french canadian player, stud winger 2 years removed from being a 1st OA. He's not trending in the right direction at all but is still young enough to be devloped in to something better. Id say with our timeline, should events conspire to us getting Laffy from the rags and a pick, dangling him to the habs for Maiiloux and their 1st in 2023, top 3 lottery protected or unrestricted in 2024 is a huge win for us. Point producing RHD in maillloux even with his issues, or a quality trade item, a 1st which will almost be a guaranteed top 10 next year or even better the following. Long term thinking, big brain stuffs
  15. My mistake, I was under the impression he was the older person in the incident and she was underaged. Still does not make it right at all and I still find it reprehensible but it does not make him a person who shouldn't be looked at as a potential item of value for a team in need of RHD
  16. I also might hesitate to point out. JR/Allvin as part of the Pitts team took over a team that had Crosby, Letang, Fleury and Malkin as its core. As well as other numerous trade pieces that were shuffled for quality return. For those lauding the cup wins JR/Allvin enjoyed while in Pittsburgh, remember it would have been like taking over the GM position in Detroit in the mid to late 90s or the Oilers in the mid 80s. When the most important pieces of the puzzle are there it is easy to complement them. Vancouver is a very different beast for them and it will show if they are in fact builders or not and it's going to be fun watching what they do. Now let's avoid the doom and gloom and just accept that we now have our new GM and carry on chasing a playoff berth.
  17. I have serious issues with this as it looks more like a group of yes men and a token AGM who might be ignored. If the idea was just to bring over the old Pitts brass then why play games and pretend anyone else was in the running as we've known it was Allvin for a week or two now? The reason I have an issue with this is the fact that people who willingly go along with plans instead of leading invariably fail to lead when the time comes. If JR wanted to hire a person he could mentor in to being a quality GM once he left then why pick someone who has essentially been his staff in the past? That being said. Allvin spent 2002/2006 with the Habs and then 2006/present with the Pens as a scout etc. In his tenure with Montreal he was part of the group that drafted or found Higgins, Halak, Lapierre, A Kostitsyn, O'Byrne, Chipchura, emelin, Grabovski, Streit, Price, Latendresse, S Kostitsyn, D'Agostini Many of those are players that had decent careers while not being found anywhere near the 1st round. Seems to be a decent record. In his tenure with Pittsburgh he was part of the group that drafted or found Staal, Strait, Muzzin, Bortuzzo, Depres, Bennett, Kuhnackl, Rust, Morrow, Harrington, Archibald, Wilson, Pouliot, Maata, Blueger, Sunqvist, Murray, Guentzel, Jarry, Kapanen, Lafferty, Sprong, Simon. Currently from 2016 and upwards we do not see any major names or players in the league that have been drafted under the group he was or has been associated with in terms of scouting. BUT! The names otherwise listed all played more than 100+ NHL games and most of/many of were found outside that first round. That's right, the overwhelming amount of names on that list are all late 2nd round or lower. which is actually quite impressive from a success vs failure stand point So while I have reservations about the potential echo chamber of yes individuals surrounding JR and now present in the team hierarchy. I am far less worried than some it appears. he's a new GM, let's see what he can do. At least wait until he's made his first trade to bury him or seat him on a podium, because that first trade looks like it might be a doozy
  18. Actually while she was giving him an oral treat. The biggest issues are the invasion of privacy plus the fact while he was 18 the girl was in fact underaged. So there's a number of disgusting situations that were addressed in criminal court over his actions. I do not condone, accept or respect them but I also know how stupid 18 year olds are and how many mistakes I made before growing up. Mistakes in this day and age which would have me ostracized from society. This kid is a point producing RHD, we don't and many NHL teams don't have that. Defensive lapses can be taught, but that level of pure skill can't. I also have a feeling that he'd be a very cheap pick up.
  19. I like that idea as well. There;s another former D prospect that nobody wanted who made NUMEROUS statements about skin colour and orientation etc and was not remorseful at all. He's currently in Carolina. Doing just fine. He was drafted by Tampa and then used as a trade chip, I'd do that with Mailloux. If he can be rehabbed or is actually growing as a human he'd also be a fine point producing RHD which we do not have.
  20. I state again, close the roads in to Ottawa and have CVSE blockades ready to inspect the log books and certification of these vehicles. Owner operators shouldn't be afraid of this at all right? Only small needles
  21. I could see the Avs being involved in this and Bruins As much as I hate him, Kane would be almost exactly what the Avs need on their bottom 6
