  1. So how's this work? We want Hughes to go deep so he plays les NHL games ensuring he doesn't A: Burn a year off contract and B: stay eligible for the calder next year?
  2. I'd be pissed if we passed on Byram and he went to Edmonton not gonna lie. He's literally in our back yard
  3. Now, is it worth getting excited over this kid? I know he's fairly old and will most likely be a Utica depth player in the next season or two. But anything that jumps out at all?
  4. So is your alternative Scheer? If so have I got some baaaad news for you regarding his past involvements statements and beliefs
  5. Ya? Well... parkland was a hoax!! Wait, isn't this the new tv thread?
  6. Explain how 157 billion becomes 200 billion. As well, explain how 2 recessions, 20% interest rates and almost 16 years in office is comparable to Mulroney or Harper who both exceeded 150 billion in less than a decade. You claimed he had the highest debt/spending. The numbers don't agree
  7. It's...like I am talking to someone with literally no basic understanding of the most simple of mathematics Debt by PM, and the percentages according to that link Clark: $77.4 Billion 18.3% increase PET: $157.2 billion 738.7% increase Mulroney: $487.5 billion 67.7% increase Chretien: $496.2 billion 1.8% increase Martin: $481.5 4.7% decrease Harper...... Well I am sure you get the idea. Or probably not. In basic terms PET may have doubled the debt in his time, but also faced one of the longest largest energy downturns in Canadian history as well as 2 recessions in 6 years. He also effectively created via public spending our modern pension plans, our healthcare system and quite a few fundamental Canadian public staples which contributed to his spending issues. Basic math shows he not only does not hold the largest amount of debt but also spent the most on what would be foundations of Canadian society. So please do explain how that's wrong again with, well. Frum? I dunno, you've really not presented any credible argument otherwise let alone basis of fact
  8. Again no it isn't. I posted numbers with multiple links to back it up. you posted...David Frum At this point in time you might as well be bludgeoning yourself with said herring
  9. It is incredibly misleading you're right. People sincerely think that a 787% increase of effectively nothing is worse than a 67.7% increase from $157.2 billion. I don't get how people can capably claim that
  10. That in itself IS factual, it all started after he shuttered the BOC and started borrowing from banks instead of from the nation itself. Here's to hoping Rocco wins that case. Not sure what stage it is at yet because it's gone very quiet but hoping he wins. His increase is directly tied to that idiocy. But. He still does not hold the highest increase in debt, just the percentage of. As when he started that it was effectively nothing. But when the other bodies in the seat took over, that was when it became the runaway issue it is now. But in essence that is someone saying a $78 billion increase is somehow worse than a $330 billion increase which...well come on let's be honest here. Is seriously cherry picking. It does highlight just how good Chretien was though which still baffles me.
  11. No no no. You don't get to toss red herrings or straw men around. While PET did in fact start the race towards indebted servitude he was far from the most prolific spender and while he raised debt his debt GDP ratio was far from the largest. You can have your opinion but opinion is not fact.
  12. Bernier would have been far smarter to try ascending that platform as leader than starting a new party
  13. Good grief indeed. https://www.taxpayer.com/media/CoverStory24-27WEB.pdf https://www.fraserinstitute.org/sites/default/files/analysis-of-federal-debt-in-canada-by-prime-ministers-since-confederation.pdf https://refreshfinancial.ca/blog/financial-news-and-advice/the-history-of-canadas-national-debt/ http://qualicuminstitute.ca/federal-debt/ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canadian_public_debt Take your pick. I even threw a wikipedia one in there at the end. NO matter how you argue it, by sheer numbers, percentages, FACTS PET is not the PM holding the most debt. He IS the one that screwed up with the BOC, by following along and leaving the gold standard, but does NOT hold the most debt. Good grief indeed, as I said. You can say whatever you want but arguing against stark numerical fact just shows a person to be a partisan simpleton willing to believe whatever they can to avoid the truth
  14. No I'm here to tell you David Frum is a known liar and if you somehow someway decide that a debate piece where he gets his say without posting the other sides statements is credible over simple historical fact than you're an idiot. Debt by PM. Google it. It will show very simple numerical facts. Trudeau may have screwed up the BOC and dropping the gold standard but if you sincerely think he owns the bulk of the debt you're a partisan simpleton
  15. Lol...David Frum....his opinion isn't exactly something I would put forth ahead of stark statistical fact
  16. While he was polarizing, in hindsight the things he did certainly made Canada the country it is. he screwed up a lot (BOC....) but much of what he put in to practice was fundementtal in ensuring our nation was what it was in its infancy post British Rule. The NEP for me is the ultimate definition of "in hindsight maybe..." Like him or hate him, the guy earned my respect.
  17. This was back in early 2015 it broke but the meetings between the then government and KPMG were done earlier. Harper was then hired by the law firm that helped KPMG which...well let's be honest here. Doesn't pass the smell test https://www.cbc.ca/news/business/harper-government-partnered-with-industry-group-battling-cra-over-kpmg-case-1.3257994 https://www.taxfairness.ca/en/news/harpers-new-job-tax-haven-connection https://www.cbc.ca/news/business/kpmg-tax-sham-used-by-at-least-25-wealthy-canadians-document-says-1.3249468 Trudeau has donors as well that are or were involved in the offshore avoidance and is equally as in the spotlight as he should be. Again, ti comes down to the laughable belief that they're somehow different from each other when the facts so easily show they're exactly the same
  18. Oil cannot be phased out soon no. It is vital in too many industries and in to many day to day items. BUT, this does not mean we cannot start investing in cleaner greener modes of energy creating far more actual jobs in the interim than Oil controlled by foreign interests will. As for him being different. Ha. We only voted Harper out because we couldn't stand him anymore. His scandals were approaching a dangerous level as well. Up to and including the KPMG tax evasion issue and his hand picked staffers hiding fraudulent spending within the senate. I've said a number of times he's just continuing the same things harper started which is why I find it so laughable so many are angry and up in arms that were formerly looking the other way or making excuses for it. Every time a new leader takes the PMO people find ways to excuse their follies while still complaining about those exact same issues from the old guard. I Know Strome will pop in soon to point his finger and say "you do it, what about, you, you you do it too jt fan boy" or something. When I have been pretty much neutral on the JT issue because this is so easily seen but still totally ignored.
  19. Yes phase out...over the next 20 years. Which is intelligent as it ensures jobs and new industry growing at the time others are waning. As for the only cared about...we just had a PM that flat out said he didn't need Quebec, and also said we should build a firewall around Alberta. There's no prize for being a PM favouring a specific sector or area of the country. They all do it Is this like a government meeting with a major corporation during an investigation in order to save jobs but also protect wealthy donors? *cough* KPMG *cough* Wish people knew that this literally just happened like 5 years ago
  20. You mean, it's possible that someone was removed from their position for not towing the line? Why does that sound so familiar...
  21. Construction workers in the prairies are hurting right now because it was predicated on record growth over 8 years. That ended the same time the oil cycle closed. That has nothing to do with Trudeau. You claim half your workforce moved to BC for work...in the NDP held BC.... I'm a former tradesman and nothing you say is jiving, like at all
  22. Sorry what This right there Sorry for you that you're working in a depressed sector of the economy but that in no way shape or form proves anything you've claimed. Sask is down in part due to crop issues but also rail issues. Selling a few things 5 years ago came back to haunt them. Oil and energy are hurting because America has no need for our energy. Industry and major commercial projects are still very much happening. You represent a union, not THE union or the workers across the country. Unemployment rates are static, debt to GDP is decreasing, inflation currently in check. Sorry bud, that opinion doesn't fly in the face of simple facts
  23. Scheer demanding Trudeau's resignation....Sorry bud. We the people will decide that. I don't really feel like taking marching orders from someone who was just so chummy with Faith Goldy and her merry band of supremacists
