  1. Notley will lose in court harder than some want to think about. Section 92a of the canadian constitution bars provinces from blocking resource exports or controlling prices of resource exports between the provinces. From various sources. Experts say that while it is within provinces’ rights to regulate natural resources, the environment and exports, federal laws are paramount and a province can’t use its laws to discriminate against another province. Margot Young, a professor at the University of B.C.’s Allard School of Law, said it is doubtful Alberta’s targeting of B.C. is constitutional, particularly read in the context of its leaders’ political statements. https://bc.ctvnews.ca/mobile/b-c-isn-t-breaching-constitution-but-alberta-s-gas-law-would-expert-1.3889407 Does give the province the right to make laws in relation to the export from the province to another part of Canada of the primary production from non-renewable natural resources and forestry resources in the province and the production from facilities in the province for the generation of electrical energy, **** but such laws may not authorize or provide for discrimination in prices or in supplies exported to another part of Canada****
  2. What political motives Alf? Horgan and Weaver campaigned on ensuring this was built to the best of BCs interests and to not build this respectively. These are two politicians that are actually doing what they promised to do during the election.
  3. The right summed up: The government wants to invest in prviate sector with our money. That's bad BC wants to block stuff that's bad. The government wants to indemnify private sector losses without return that's good. Let's build this at any cost! When you indemnify someone or something you agree to cover the losses incurred to the risk during a moment of peril. There is no compensation in return for it. If this costs billions canada will pay billions. But hey, build it right
  4. I'm not the biggest fan out there but it's just seriously confusing what the brass in TO is thinking.
  5. I'm not convinced you're one to be pointing out the possibility that people are unaware of what they're saying. Predecessor literally means someone who held office or position beforehand. Do you know what relevant means? Closely connected or appropriate to what is being considered. When you consider that Iggy was a loser and JR is the PM, it is far less relevant than the previous PM speaking out for Scheer who is hoping to be the new PM. You're trying to equate the two. That is the equivalent of Mulcair speaking out for Singh. Nobody cares because they are both losers who will never win anything
  6. Because Iggy was a loser and was only a party leader for a very short time. Where as Scheer was speaker of the house, Harpers left hand man in the parliament and is his direct predecessor. Because Harper has spoken out for Scheer, but Iggy hasn't once spoken out for golden boy.
  7. Raps looking at Buddenholzer for the head coaching position. So fire a guy to lead you to 3 straight 50+ win seasons who got swept by LBJ. Only to hire a guy who got swept twice by LBJ.... Isn't stackhouse available? What about Few from Gonzaga? Seriously thinking we're going to watch the Raps implode in short order next season
  8. Ironically the watchword of Conservatives is "socialism" for anything they don't understand these days. Controlling our own resources to a great many is a form of "socialism" To bad this country never had a chance to develop its own resources. If only there was ever some sort of a National PLan
  9. Lol let him try. Good luck getting that past the WTO
  10. Economy. Jobs. Status on the world stage say this memes wrong. Whst does Reagan say about that? Or do i need to bring up the photos of the former PM playing dress up too to underscore that?
  11. Ya...your 14 year old inner girl called, she wants her ridiculously over dramatic statements back. The Okanagan is the bike theft capital of Canada man and that's in BC
  12. Kenney is going to tax people though as well. He promised to eliminate the carbon tax and enact...a cap and trade system. Which is still a carbon tax. As well analysts are already speaking about how should he come to power and his small smattering of election promises come to pass that Alberta could see a sales tax within 3 years because you cannot cut business taxes by that much and maintain the province. Cutting services won't solve that issue either. I know you don't like Notley man, but Kenney is pure idiocy
  13. There was 17 billion in it actually. Here's a good read up as of 2014 pre notley http://nationalpost.com/opinion/kelly-mcparland-how-alberta-turned-its-heritage-fund-into-a-cash-machine-for-big-spending-politicians
  14. Not paying your bills is not fiscal conservatism. Not buying billion dollar sky palaces is fiscal conservatism. Notley is guilty of a fair bit but she's doing the things the last 15 years of PC rule didn't and that's costing a ton of cash. With oil on the rise again every few dollars it goes up is hundreds of millions back in to the budget. Might not look so dire in a few months at this rate
  15. Congratulations to the WINnipeg Jets for their 2nd round series win.  Bring on the Vegas Bettmans...err the Gary Knights!

Cannot wait until tomorrow sports headlines on Sportsnet and TSn when they go in to detail what the Leafs are doing in the off season and how Andersens new mask looks....

  16. Ya see while you're cheering you're missing the fact that her replacement will be Jason kenney. This is a guy that makes Randy from TPB look credible Notley is twice the leader he is, even if she's spending Alberta out of the issues it was in. You should be hoping she gets back in to power man because while she is being reasonable to an extent Kenney won't be. His bumbling will absolutely shaft BC and Alberta in the process of getting nothing doing
  17. Sorry, what about renewable energy not being cost effective or worth investing in again? http://www.cbc.ca/news/business/renewable-energy-oil-1.4656106 As the potential for wind and solar energy grows — and the cost of the technology falls — experts anticipate a growing number of traditional oil and gas companies to invest in the renewables sector. Morgan Bazilian, former lead energy specialist at the World Bank, told an audience of oil executives this week in Calgary that the industry has already seen some of the sector's largest companies — Shell, Total, BP and others — make billion-dollar investments in renewables. Oilsands research could be 'game changer' for renewable energy Bazilian expects more companies with a focus on natural gas to follow suit. "Every company in the gas space is looking at it," he later told reporters at the ARC Energy Investment forum on Wednesday. "They're not naive about this. … They're keenly aware that these investments are happening." Recent analysis at Bernstein Research pegged Big Oil’s investment in renewables acquisitions over the past five years at US$3 billion, most of which went toward solar. Royal Dutch Shell reportedly spent over US$400 million. (AP Photo/Peter Dejong, File) ANALYSIS Canada's oilpatch laments erosion of competitive edge Bazilian, executive director of the Payne Institute for Earth Resources at the Colorado School of Mines, said he also expects to hear more discussion about how the natural gas and renewable energy sectors can complement each other. "The reality is that we're getting a lot better at integrating wind and solar into power systems — period," he added. "That is because of how we're planning systems, how we're operating systems on a day-to-day basis, and how we're regulating the systems. Ecological features of Minas Basin examined as Ottawa eyes marine protection "And so technologically you can absorb or integrate a lot more of these variable sources — like wind and solar — than we had previously thought, much more." The comments come amidst growing investment in renewable energy technologies across the globe, aided by the falling cost of the technology. A recent analysis by Bernstein Research pegged Big Oil's investment in renewables acquisitions over the past five years at $3 billion US, most of which went toward solar. Alberta renewable revolution begins with launch of largest solar project in Western Canada Jackie Forrest, senior director of research at ARC Energy Research Institute, said the cost of solar power has dropped by 90 per cent. Wind has dropped by half. "But I think we're going to see more growth in renewables because it is competitive and it doesn't need those government subsidies to justify these projects moving forward," said Jackie Forrest ARC Energy Research Institute. (ARC Financial) "The fact that generation costs have come down so that the power price required to justify an investment in solar or wind is cheaper than a natural gas [co-generation plant] — that's a big change in the paradigm out there," Forrest said in an interview. However, Forrest believes natural gas will continue to be important for some time. "There's a role for natural gas because wind and solar are not available 24/7 and natural gas is a great partner in terms of offsetting those renewable sources when they're not there," she said. Q&A: Disruption coming to energy world — and quickly "But I think we're going to see more growth in renewables because it is competitive and it doesn't need those government subsidies to justify these projects moving forward." BluEarth Renewables CEO Grant Arnold, who has been involved in renewable energy projects across the country, said he has already seen a lot of new capital coming into the sector, including investments from pension funds and life insurance companies. ANALYSIS Fossil fuel decline could be 'faster than expected,' government think-tank warns And he expects more interest from oil and gas companies, too. "Bottom line is, I expect more people to do it," Arnold said. "Would I bet on which players will do it or won't do it? It's too hard to tell. But more of them are doing it every day."
  18. Hard to argue that McWynne shart the bed pretty hard in Ontariowe But damn Ford is...well. Ford is something else. Almost feel bad for Horwath, she might be the better option out of all three
  19. Not your capture, therefore not your property therefore shhhhhh
  20. So....how's he actually playing on the world stage? Enough whinging people, down to game play now please
  21. Actually, mightycpc and one other guy said that here. Just a few pages back.
  22. That's frightening. I watched some of the Ontario debate. Ford was beyond clueless. he makes Jason kenney look qualified. Ford is a boil on the backside of true conservatism in Canada. The idiot thinks he can defund CBC as premiere, had the worst attendance record of any Toronto city councillor ever. Has numerous personal "issues" that have yet to be dealt with and is an absolute liar. The very fact people on the right champion that clown is damned sad.
