  1. I actually spoke of this. The most intelligent thing they could do would be suspended pipelines in arch tunnels much like Tokyo has for their infrastructure 10 to 15 feet under any rail line. It keeps it encapsulated and thus mitigates any spill but also cuts down the amount of land needed.
  2. I still say high speed rail from Ontario to Alberta....7 hours to cross the bulk of country vs 3 days
  3. Uhhh....wrong again Show me some numbers to prove that. And be quick please Because the largest demographic that is not working per age is 45+ with the average age of the working poor or underemployed being ages 25 to 45 and the largest group of people accepting benefits being 45+ as well. Numbers being skewed by those taking early retirement while still maintaining functional employment http://www.statcan.gc.ca/tables-tableaux/sum-som/l01/cst01/labor20a-eng.htm As for "maybe they created this group" There is no question they did. Looking at the numbers on this chart shows a large population of people looking for work but receiving little in the way of benefits. The largest group of people being underemployed or currently unemployed shows as 25-44 but are also the largest group not receiving benefits
  4. As per the story, there's over $7 billion more dollars needing allocation. A bridge and tunnel would sure eat up a fair amount of that no?
  5. Ya..we call them baby boomers They created the system that they whine about.
  6. Again you refuse to read what I keep pointing out. The height of ignorance is the lack of desire to understand the facts You sir...are entirely ignorant. Completely, utterly and totally ignorant. I'm rather over trying to show you the truth or facts when you refuse to actually read them. Keep living in your bubble of stupidity pretending that the internet does not in fact have all the facts recorded on it and believing your opinion is more important or truthful than the facts. And when pressed for merit just keep attacking one single point instead of actually trying to understand the entire picture because it's safer for you to do so. It would be sad if it wasn't so regular for you. Also, is it ignorance or just a lack of intelligence to understand why bringing up Harper/Obama in that context was important?
  7. More on the funding for BC (and it's kind of galling it's almost entirely earmarked for the lower mainland again) http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/ottawa-pledges-4-1b-for-b-c-infrastructure-including-transit-1.4602563 Ottawa has announced a new multibillion-dollar infrastructure deal with British Columbia, just a week after a report found the federal government was falling behind on the spending program. Federal Infrastructure Minister Amarjeet Sohi and B.C. Transportation Minister Claire Trevana signed an agreement Monday that will see $4.1 billion doled out over the next decade for transit, green infrastructure, recreation facilities, and projects in rural and northern communities across the province. Mayors' Council announces historic $7 billion transportation deal "Partnerships like this are going to have an immense effect on people's lives throughout the Lower Mainland and across the province," Trevana said. "It's going to mean better transit for everyone. It's going to mean that local infrastructure can be upgraded and work for people." The federal government is investing in infrastructure because well-maintained and efficient infrastructure is the foundation of strong communities, Sohi said. "We believe that this investment will help us achieve the vision we have for Canadian communities," he said, adding the projects will create jobs and support a green economy. Commitment follows critical report The new agreement between B.C. and Ottawa follows a report last week from parliamentary budget officer Jean-Denis Frechette's office, which found that only half of the money the Liberals earmarked for their infrastructure spending program had been allocated. The report said 10,052 projects with a combined cost to federal coffers of $7.2 billion have been approved for funding across 32 departments, agencies and Crown corporations since 2016, when the Liberals unveiled the first phase of their infrastructure program. An additional $7.2 billion had not yet been allotted. Critical PBO report lacks information on infrastructure spending, minister says Speaking in Vancouver on Monday, Sohi said the issue comes down to getting a bill. "This is not about holding back on projects or construction activity not happening," he said. "It's just a matter of cash flow for us, where we just have to wait until we get the invoices to pay out the federal contribution to our partners." Sohi vowed that "every single cent" of the $180 billion the federal government has promised for infrastructure spending over 12 years will be invested in Canadian communities. Four new B-Line express bus routes are set to come online in Metro Vancouver before the end of 2019. (Peter Scobie/CBC) Funding for transit expansion For B.C., that will include a "massive investment" in public transit, Trevana said. The federal and provincial governments have already reached a deal to fund a $7-billion transit expansion in the Lower Mainland over 10 years, including increased bus service, a SkyTrain along Vancouver's Broadway corridor and light rail in Surrey. If cities won't accommodate B-Line buses, they shouldn't get them: Mayors' Council chair The federal and provincial governments will each cover 40 per cent of the cost, while the municipalities will raise transit fares, property taxes and other expenses to fill the remaining funding gap. Trevana said the agreement will also see $1.1 billion put toward green infrastructure projects and $157 million will be spent on playgrounds and recreation centres across B.C.
  8. No idea who corrigan is honestly but apparently the province is also on the verge of having the feds also fund in part the new bridge and possible tunnel replacement If they can swing that they'll be damned heroes
  9. Good thing the feds just kicked the lower mainland over $4 billion then eh? The new LRT and new skytrain expansion as well as more buses are on the way. Horgan moved fast honestly. especially when so much of that infrastructure money is just kind of sitting in limbo https://www.vancouverisawesome.com/2018/04/02/federal-government-promises-4-1-billion-b-c-infrastructure/ A new agreement between Ottawa and B.C. will see the federal government spend $4.1 billion on infrastructure in the province over the next decade. 10. When anyone mumbles how Obama increased the debt then defends Harper for increasing the debt I shake my head I also chuckle when people bring up the 90s and claim one government did something. When the truth is across Canada NAFTA cost hundreds of thousands of jobs in the 90s. As well. The NDP left BC with an actual budget surplus when they left office I've linked these and more to you numerous times and you never EVER read them. Ignorance is bliss I guess https://www.huffingtonpost.ca/gabriel-yiu/bc-ndp-lost-decade_b_16252392.html http://commonsensecanadian.ca/rafe-mair-liberal-myths-ndp-distort-bcs-political-history/ I love when you're to lazy to look for yourself even though it only takes a few keystrokes. Proves you know when you're wrong and just want someone to do the work for you https://tradingeconomics.com/canada/consumer-credit Intentionally misreading the comment to ensure you don't have to answer. Who created the artificially low interest rates in canada over the last 10 years which has lead to historical rates of consumer debt Strome?
  11. Again incorrect. We are not a "debt nation" in fact some of our most prosperous years recently were when we were paying down the debt under Chretien. As well the current debt crisis (something I've spoken out a lot about) was predicated and built upon policies stemming from the last decade of artificially low interest rates which were created by Who again?
  12. Incorrect. I strongly suggest you look at the timeline of Bush era policy vs Obama's actions against the fiscal crisis. Amazingly when you look you see Obama had nothing to do with any sort of nosedive and the bulk of his initial borrowing was the 2.5 front war the prior administration had embroiled the US in
  13. Sorry for the ridiculously long delay in responding CS Lind is capable of handling the push back from larger players. he's an average size played now and possibly on the slighter side for NHL play. While the WHL has some bruisingly large defencemen. I have little fear of him succeeding. He's very Patrick Sharp-esque as it was. Comparably in play and size. Lind is around 180 pounds + sharp played at about 190 for quite a long time. My issue with that "draft" or "redraft" is my same issue with ranking players during a draft based on tournament play vs regular season. It is far easier to elevate your play when you're playing with the best the world has to offer. Over what 3-5-7 games? But can you do it on a 2nd or 3rd line with players that will never even sniff the ECHL over 60+ games? So many people rank players higher based on less than 10 game tournaments when their actual body of work doesn't necessarily dictate a deserved rise in the rankings. As was evident on that list. Quite a few players rose that imo didn't deserve to and the only indicator I see is tournament play
  14. Kinda laughing at that list. Mittlestadt did what exactly to move up 5 spots? Petterson had a literal record breaking year against men and moved up 1 spot. Patrick has 25 points or so. He's still 2nd? Lind carried, literally carried his team on his back for the last 25 games of the season while producing at almost 2 ppg and dropped. Kinda questioning that list really and it isn't just homerism as some might say. There's playes in there that had years that were subpar to their draft and still moved up while others stagnated and didn't drop much at all while we have a few studs that barely rose or fell severely. Redraft failure
  15. 3 different people they could have opted for instead of Singh. Cullen, Ashton or even Angus would have been more electable. Singh will not get votes out of Quebec. At all. Outside of Surrey and Toronto the electorate won't vote for him. Possibly a sterling candidate but unlikely they vote for him. Cullen openly turned down the leadership race wanting to spend more time at home. Now he spends his days critiquing everything the government does from the sidelines of obscurity. The issue with Quebec is that the right wingers now no longer have the Bloc which will push them towards the Conservatives unless True Dough manages to woo Quebec which will cost him votes elsewhere as people will see him being "to french" A minority yes but.....
  16. Don't forget the unelectable Jaghmeet Singh effect. Angry Tom lost the NDP a bunch of seats. Singh will lose them almost everything outside of Toronto and Vancouver. And those people will not vote Conservative. After watching Scheer this week in Parliament. I sincerely feel he was the absolute worst possible choice for the Conservatives for leadership. Because he's shown literally none and has less experience than True Dough
  17. He has over a year. If he pushes hard he owns the left. If he wins out on legalization and starts genuine reform he eatsthe center too.
  18. It was a token resistance at best in my opinion. Remember when I said Horgan would fold over on everything resource related after putting up a mediocre fight? he's done exactly that with everything from Site C to Trans Mountain. No way is he going to pay for everything without allowing these projects to go through. Now he gets the benefit of looking tough for one side and looking like he is ensuring jobs and prosperity occur for the other. While the whole time Notley comes out looking like the wicked witch of the eastern side of the rockies to us but a champion for oil and resources for them.
  19. Assaulted? By the story he was shoved and injured his knee (scraped it) and other protestors helped him in his arrest of the subject. His dumb a55 will be going to jail for a time but assault is a bit of a strong word. That said play stupid games win stupid prizes. Lucky he isn't in America or he'd not be running from anything ever again When they arrived, they found a man who had allegedly moved a city-owned survey monument. Mounties said several anti-pipeline demonstrators rushed in to block the Mountie from taking the man into custody for mischief, allowing him to evade capture. As the officer chased after the suspect, he was pursued by several protesters from a camp set up on the site. One of the demonstrators allegedly pushed the officer, causing him to injure his knee. Video posted to Facebook by a demonstrator and confirmed by RCMP shows the incident. A protester can be heard telling the suspect to "just run," and "go in the forest." As they chase the officer, she says, "Come on, push him!" and someone runs past the camera after the officer. The Mountie was still able to chase after the suspect, and managed to arrest the 41-year-old man for mischief and resisting arrest. An investigation into the incident is ongoing, and charges are being considered for a number of demonstrators who intervened, police said. In a statement, officers said they appreciated the co-operation of those at the site who are demonstrating peacefully. They said it was other protesters who called 911 to get help for the injured Mountie.
  20. He's just biding his time to sign a bigger better contract with Boston. My friends at HF told me so. I knew 7 years ago we should have blown the team up. The_Guardian
  21. As someone said I think a few pages back. The best possible scenario is him signing that ATO for Utica and then signing full time after our season so he doesn't burn that year or some such thing
