  1. They're tied for points with only a 4 game difference. That is with Heiskanen averaging 7 minutes and 42 seconds more ice time per game. How is that not donimating? There's also only a 10 month difference between them while Heiskanen played all of last year in that league. Again, there's no true "dominating" difference between them. As well, nowhere does it say anything about an attitude or locker room issues. Green demands a very high fitness level, he has actually called out NHL regulars for their fitness levels; so demanding a shade more excellence from a 19 year old kid is not unusual at all and in no way says or shows that Juolevi is out of shape. It's not at all like the Virtanen donut factor we saw last year His being scratched while cause for questioning is not concerning. Hesikanen also was scratched last year in his rookie season. So again, not unusual http://liiga.fi/pelaajat/28843210/heiskanen-miro http://liiga.fi/pelaajat/24479743/juolevi-olli#page He plays more minutes and also still has mroe offensive zone starts vs Juolevi by the numbers. If his production vs his games played is not comparable or better than OJs that would be cause for concern no?
  2. I will need to see reports about this as I've heard none of this at all anywhere in almost 350 pages of talk. As a prospect coming from Hunters Knight's system there is little to no chance he was not conditioned enough to play. As well by most accounts he is one of the most humble people on the ice which was well documented in his player profile during his draft year. As for playing 24-25 minutes a night. The current TOI leader in the NHL is drew doughty with 21 minutes a game of even strength play and roughly 27 minutes a game of total TOI; and there are in fact only 23 players in the entire NHL playing more than 24 minutes a night. He is a rookie in a mens league, expecting him to play 24+ minutes a night while discounting the near record breaking rookie season he has had thus far is questionable. https://www.foxsports.com/nhl/stats?category=ICE+TIME&group=1&time=0
  3. Except... he has been doing that and quite well. While 25 minutes a night might be a stretch, to say he isnt doing well over there or unable to hold a position at the Liiga level is a significant reach as he has had a near record breaking U-20 season for a rookie It only adds to the frustration of people who are impatient and expecting immediate gratification honestly. We're in no rush with our kids.
  4. You know who's really impressive Cale Makar. Looks like Dallas missed out http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php?pid=178719 Oh wait, sorry is this the Olli Juolevi thread? Man my mistake, I thought we were swinging our junk whinging about other teams' prospects again while down playing ours. Is it too late to talk about Tkachuk?
  5. 100% agreed. He is putting up the same amount of points in 5 less games being 1 year younger. What concerns me most about Heiskanen though is his absolute unwillingness to battle hard along the boards. With Juolevi we've seen him dig, fight and be that cerebral guy waiting for the puck. Miro seems far less willing than Olli to push in Nobody can or should knock what Miro Heiskanen is doing this year. But then we know that Juolevi can play on a smaller surface and muck it up and be successful. Where as watching Heiskanen shy so far away from contact in general should give anyone pause before he steps on to a pro surface in North America
  6. in 17 years was any attempt made? Don't you find it funny that the amount of the deficit is the same as the amount the former government took? What changed from 1999-2001?

  8. Did...did I say that anywhere? I'm looking for where I said that but having trouble finding it What I do see I said was that something changed in 2 short years when ICBC started failing and rates started skyrocketing. Don't reach too hard
  9. Like to remind people, prior to 1999. ICBC worked just fine. Without any issues at all Cannot recall what changed between 1999 and 2001...
  10. dammit....jim you're right
  11. I uh...don't want to intrude ehre But Toews Bergeron Kopitar What do all 3 have in common? All have won the cup and been nominated for or won the selke. What is one thing they don't share with other #1 centers in the league? None of them have ever broken 85 points. IN fact only Kopitar has breached the 80 point plateau and that was back in 09. #1 centers don't have to be massive point machines. Horvat pre injury was actually in line with those guys. Obviously he doesn't have the supporting cast of norris winning defence or vezina calibre goaltending but is an uber responsible 2 way center.
  12. Sorry, I don't want to intrude on you guys. But would you consider a Bergeron, Toews, Kopitar as a 1st line center, or the kind of center you want to build/structure your team around? All 3 are technically 1st line centers, all own cup rings; only Kopitar has broken the 80 point plateau though but has never won a selke where as Toews, bergeron are/were perennial selke nominees. If Horvat's comparable was bergeron, and his point projections this year pre injury were in fact 60+ points than I dare say he's exactly the kind of top 6 center this team needs and if we had another just like him I'd kind of feel sorry for the rest of the league once they hit the 25-30 range Again that's all if's, comparisons and opinion only. Sorry to intrude
  13. Sorry to ask But how many games left and what's his magic number to break forsbergs/nilssons records as of today?
  14. There's just so many...soooo many
  15. Sorry I meant Matthew Barzal....errr wait, no. Probably not better
  16. Which is why if we were to win and draft Dahlin/Zadina/Svechnikov/Hughes/Tkachuk I'd LOVE to see them left down for another year just to hear how the eastern analysts claim we're "doing things wrong" Imagine winning the Dahlin sweepstakes and not having him on the roster next year "But look at all the other 1st overall picks! They're all playing". And except of course for Sid, Geno and Kane none of them have won cups but that won't factor in much will it OJ is on his own development curve and we are in no hurry
  17. Regarding the slides fo a few kids. How much of this is predicated on the possibility of another lockout? I'm sure these kids and their agents will want things in stone knowing it is coming. And for the people who have told me it won't happen for the last 3+ years....make no mistakes, it's coming
  18. If the Canucks actually managed to poach one of these kids from a team instead of being on the outside looking in I would be so happy
  19. We are larger than the hawks in 2 of their recent cup wins and the pens on one of theirs if i recall correctly
  20. Imagine Petterson=Backstrom Horvat=Bergeron Gaudette=Kesler Lind=Sharp Gadjovich=Bertuzzi Boeser=Hull Virtanen=Wilson Tryamkin=Chara Juolevi=Lindholm Demko=Quick If ALL of them pan out to even 75% of that potential of these players they've been compared too that is a fearsome fearsome team to play against. No I am not saying they WILL be these guys, but these are the guys they've been compared too and 75% of any of those players are still amazing hockey players A canucks team that drafted the following: Three 1A/1B centers Three 1st/2nd line wingers One 2nd/3rd line winger Two top pairing D One Vezina caliber goaltender A lot to ask for but.... I still think Gaudette needs some small amount of AHL time but he's really coming out of nowhere regarding his draft status and looks to be the true definition of a late round steal
