  1. I did read what you said. The difference is, NJ has nowhere to go but down. They're not as deep, talented or as skilled as the teams starting to catch up to them in their division. 3 games ago people had the Canucks as playoff locks here. Charging out of the gates against a Pens Caps and Jackets team that all started slow in october, against a rangers team adjusting to life without a prime Lundquist and no depth is impressive and all. But that won't last. Book it. 7 players 21 and younger 5 of them in their 3rd NHL seasons. In the one division that is basically equal to within 6 points and nobody walking away as of yet Vs The division hosting McDavid and the goon squad, one of the deeper blue lines in Calgary and the Ducks who are only sucking wind due to unreal injuries but who still slaughtered us the other night. You're also not factoring in the Green equation. green who forces players to earn their spot and you pencil in an all rookie 2nd line. We're all thinking about what's next for this team. Some of us are thinking like Bowmans and some of us are thinking like Burkes. One is known for long term success, one is known for trading futures for nows and rushing the process. Which one are you sounding like?
  2. Sadly I have to agree. Gadget deserves to be in the running for a spot on the roster but TC has been highly political for years The amount of amazing players they've left off the team in place of players skating by on the prior years draft status is disturbing. Just go through the last 4 years of drafting from 2012 to 2016 and look at team canadas rosters from 2013 to 2017 and you'll see why that statement is important. Team canada used to take the best players period in to December. now they've made their minds up by September and rarely change it barring injury.
  3. Rasmussen was left off because he can't skate or generate offense. His size alone is what makes him successful. Add in a modicum of proverbial hockey iq and he'll be a great 3rd or 4th line center but he won't beat out a ton of guys who are better and faster skaters on a larger ice surface
  4. You look at your proposed roster. Tell me that roster with 5 rookies or players with less than 20 overall NHL games (an entire rookie second line) is going to succeed in the NHL. You keep saying Book it like Harvey keeps saying Tick Tock. But there is nothing wrong with seeing these kids spending a half to full season still in development. You're looking for immediate gratification. I get it. But you slap your proposed line up right now on the ice and they get slaughtered We're not in a rush man. Book it
  5. Sorry I should have written that better. In terms of BCAA historically and for general NHL success How do his draft+2 point totals look
  6. In terms of production. Where does the Hockey Gaud rank for his age in NCAA averaging?? Is his production above average for draft +2 or ?
  7. It was a tea, and my snark is nothing compared to your endless doubty attitude regarding almost all of our prospects. Literally all of them thus far except Petterson have felt your wrath without warrant or factual basis. I'll call that out at every turn. Now hurry up, 2 cream 2 sugar
  8. Guess you're not familiar with the "majesty" that is the 5th line
  9. Naslund, Forsberg, Sedins (prime example honestly) Ohlund, NYlander. There's quite a few players there who either did well with more time in the SHL post draft or who had less than productive (based on their careers) early starts in the league There's no question if he comes to camp and surprises he deserves a spot. But for all the reasons people have mentioned and #1 to ensure he acclimates to NA ice as a center or C/W we should be in no reason to rush him over in to the majors
  10. Oh sorry I must have missed how we're 1 Petterson away from contention 1 more year is not a waste of time my friend
  11. The environment in the SHL is not the same as the North American leagues and ice surfaces. The league is littered, hell is buried in prospects and players who lit it up in the Euro leagues and minor leagues but could never translate it to the bigs. Allowing him a full year to play against the best in the SHL again or a full year + in the AHL to acclimate to a harder and far more intense playing schedule would be nothing but beneficial. We're in technical year 3 of a rebuild (really around year 4) and we still have 2 years left before we've stockpiled the depth of prospects and cap space on the big club we need to start being playoff threats again. If we have a mediocre or bad draft this season we'll be hanging the next decade or more on Lind, Gadjovich, Juolevi and Petterson/Boeser as our only real prospects that can be almost assured to be NHL players of any sort. Markstrom and Nilsson as well as the play of our kids are actually blowing the early predictions of the canucks being a bottom 5 team out of the water in their first month of play and we could capably be a middle of the pack team. My accounts for our timeline had us picking top 10 this and next year and competing for 2020-2021 after 2 more decent drafts in which we've accumulated extra picks for selling of expiring contracts or older vets. Petterson is not needed now. He is really not needed next year. While we are exceeding expectations introducing him to early does little to nothing to help the club in the short term except sell a few tickets. For the club and the long term success of it, ensuring Petterson/Juolevi and our upcoming prospects are properly developed is FAR more important than worrying about why a "potential 60 point player" is not in our line up yet **Edit** This isn't to say if he comes in to camp and wows everyone he doesn't deserve a spot on the team. This is simply saying that there's a large amount of prospects that come over from Europe who do not have great first years in the NHL and when you factor in his size and the far more aggressive Pacific division over the SHL and the added schedule you risk stunting his development or possibly seeing him injured early on due to his not being used to a smaller size rink or far more aggressive playing styles
  12. Because we're in absolutely no rush like at all man. Sure skill wise he's ready now. But physically and environmentally I'd say he's not ready until 2019/2020
  13. For reference right now and I know they are a year apart Juolevi with todays point has 7 points in 9 games Heiskanen has 8 points in 9 games. Relevant because they're in the same league and both potential WJC and Olympic hopefuls.
  14. Depends. If you purchase Fuji the lower light issues are mitigated by built in axis stabilization allowing you to take shots at lower shutter speeds while hand held. Sony mirrorless has the native sony built sensors which dominate the market and basically make any iso issues a joke Nikons new home built BFI on a dslr and their patents on a new in house curved sensor and reports of their first true mirrorless bodies coming in 2018 also bode well. Lots of options out there and I always keep my eyes open because sometimes carrying 9 pounds of equipment for 10 hours a day is not enjoyable.
  15. Mmm...2nd line winger really. Only broken 60 once
  16. I'm in Penticton and I can echo this. I still shake my head wondering how benn slipped that far in the draft Kole is a special kind of player though without question.
  17. Simple question. Is there any game worth actually buying a PS4 over? Have had a PS 3 I think I have turned on twice in the last 2 or 3 years.
  18. Sony just announced the A7 3 Absolutely solid looking camera body. Still not weather sealed or rugged enough for my tastes but they're seriously making a push for it. New lens line being announced soon as well Nikons full frame mirrorless and first medium format bodies due to be announced next year as they sit and rest on their D850 (which I just picked up today) and rightfully so as it is an absolute monster of a camera
  19. Almost thought those license plates were from around here on Green Mt road
  20. No, because obviously nowhere at no point in time did anyone say he was going to bust, was never going to make it; was a wasted pick or anything of the sort. Simply put, like hell anyone will admit they were wrong
  21. Says the guy hounding Rodins jock and disregarding all common sense and fact while doing it
  22. This is Shanahans technical 3rd year is it not? So 2 years since Marner 1 year since Matthews. I used Edmonton and Toronto as my comparables because they're instantly visible to almost everyone but also because we keep hearing how they "rebuilt properly" Until we look at the numbers. For a decade of high and multiple picks they did absolutely terribly. For Benning thus far though 3 drafts/3 years we can look and see he's already possibly had more success than both other teams did in almost 15 combined years of drafting for "other tier" prospects. So well in fact people are already (as usual) ready to ship out our last high prospect for...well Duchene.
  23. It's that second tier of prospects and the unknowns that have me so intrigued. Reading over that list of Oilers and Leafs since 2007 is absolutely dreadful. I mean I feel bad we basically failed at drafting after the loss of Bourdon. But then we never had picks that high nor did we have the extra picks as we liked to trade them. Knwing the Oilers and Leafs failed to draft ANYONE meaningful really outside of that all important top 10 and actually whiffed on more than a few picks makes our record look quite a bit better by comparison. We're currently 2 or 4 years in to our rebuild and have managed to find by all accounts, gems and treasures all over the draft. Tryamkin and Demko, Brisebois, Gaudette and Zhukenov, Lockwood Candella, Mackenzie and Abols and finally Lind, Gadjovich, DiPietro and possibly Rathbone. Without question we cannot call these guys NHL players (yet) and certainly not players with the caliber of Marner, Hall, Matthews or McJesus but still potentially depth or better NHL players of the like that teams need to win cups. Both for cap reasons but also common sense reasons. That is more potential NHL players in 1 single draft outside of the 1st round than the Oilers and Leafs scraped together in 10 years. Now obviously the last 3 years are too early to tell for any of these three aforementioned teams but again; by all accounts our "other tier" of prospects is far more appealing than we could have hoped for. Give it 2 or 3 more drafts just like the last 3 under benning and we could conceivably have one of the deepest prospect pools in the league for the first time in club history. That 2-3 more drafts is 2-3 more seasons of development. That gives us a potential 2-3 new rookies per year starting as early as the start of the 2019 season and then carrying on until...well who knows. All I can hope for right now is a competitive team this year, where I predict we absolutely bottom out due to injuries and increased play from the rest of the conference and a sell off of vets this and next year to ensure we have extra picks in the 1st 2nd and 3rd rounds. Then it is that patience...waiting game. I love our "other tier" of prospects far more than I do our Juolevi's, Pettersons and Virtanens because these are the prospects that cups are won on
