  1. I actually think Petterson is a minimum of 2 years away. At best he's Europe this year and AHL next year. I'd like to see him over 3 seasons. Here for 2020/2021. That amount of growth that fast and the hopes he'll somehow maintain his mobility can be detrimental. Another season in Europe wouldn't be the worst thing. Then a year in the AHL or even half season. NO need to rush this kid at all. 2-3 years minimum for the best possible outcome for him. OJ same thing. Another year at least. This year (maybe another) under Salo will seriously help him in ways we can't express properly. We don't have a Hedman perennial Norris candidate to pair him with or a dearth of ridiculously skilled top 6 players that OJ can dish the puck to. We don't have the quality D pairings or forwards he needs to be successful so by extension he's not going to look as good. With Travis (show me) Green there's no guarantee he's given those chances either. Yet. Next year we start seeing our drafting pay off. We see Lind, Gadjovich, Palmu, McKenzie, Gaudette etc etc etc etc all ready for the AHL or big show. We see the twins under a new contract or retired. We see some movement on the blue line and a true transition year the likes of which we haven't seen since pre WCE. Teams like Edmonton and Toronto drafted top 10 or traded away valuable 1st round picks for almost a decade. To be completely honest it took almost 6 years for Kadri to pan out, they wanted to dump him for years. Looking at edmonton it's shockingly sad how with almost 10 years of high picks they literally busted almost every year. from 2007 on for the Oilers in the 1st round Gagner Eberle Magnus Pajarvi Svenson Hall Nugent-Hopkins Klefbom Yakupov Nurse Draisatl McDavid Puljujarvi Yamamato Out of ALL of those picks only Yamamato Eberle and Klefbom are from outside of the top 10. out of all of those years they have only drafted maybe 2 players outside of the 1st round worth even speaking about. From 2007 on for the Leafs Schenn Kadri Biggs Percy Reilly Gauthier Nylander Marner Matthews Liljegren Literally out of that list...Connor Brown is the ONLY player outside of the 1st round they drafted making an impact in the NHL over 10 years. They dropped the ball a couple times as well as you can see and it took Matthews to turn the team around For people to say we may have "missed" on players or that look at others that are currently in the NHL playing with far better line mates or D pairings than we can provide for them to be successful they aren't looking at the big picture. The Oilers and Leafs sucked. So hard, for a decade. Look at their draft history. Leafs drafted top five 5 times. Oilers drafted all but 3 times. Both dropped the ball numerous times and lucked out on generational talent to turn their teams around. Canucks have had...back to back years of top 10 picking and our most promising player was drafted 23rd. But, over those 2 years, 4 if we want to adjust since Horvat we can see for promising prospects we've 3 that will be NHL players and easily another 5 or 6 that will most likely be NHL players. Only 2 of them drafted top 10 and one of those via a trade (Schneider) We've literally just started the rebuild and are miles ahead of the Leafs and Oilers when we put a 10 year cycle side by side. Our first 2 years vs their first 2 years, our first 4 years vs their first 4 years. If we are just looking at 2020/2021 as a timeline for contention where we see Petterson and OJ in the NHL we're still 3-5 years ahead of the Oilers and Leafs if we compare a decade long rebuild. But we've the better depth of prospects and are having success outside of the top 10 where they never could, with lesser picks. I am only using the Oilers and Leafs as an example because they were so bad for so long rebuilt for roughly the same amount of time and are the current NHL darlings. We don't need OJ and Petterson in a year, we really don't need them for 2 years at the earliest; 3 being my personal preference. I was anti Benning, VERY anti Benning for a while but I can see where this team is heading under his management and I kinda like it. I just hope ownership has the stomach to keep him on long enough to enjoy it. 2020/2021 is our timeline. Let's just be patient TLDR; Cancuks are in year 2 or 4 of a rebuild depending on how you look at it. Compared to Leafs and Oilers and their decade of suck; we're already WAY ahead of them and don't need to rush our prospects to prove it. If you want instant gratification get a happy meal, Benning is cooking a 5 course banquet
  2. On one hand 2015: We need to rebuild, we have to rebuild we know it will take 3-5 years minimum to stockpile and develop the right amount of depth On the other hand 2017: If we would have drafted prospect X, Y and Z they'd be in the NHL draft +1 and contributing and we coulda had [insert prospect here] juolevi doesn't have a spot here yet. Isn't ready yet and we're in literally NO rush to bring him in at this point. We have a glut of guys on contracts we need to move out first and knowing Peterson is at least 2 years away (the very least) from entering the AHL and that OJ is 2 years as well. Why rush it. Those worried prospects are looking like "a miss" at this early stage need to simply be patient. Within 2 seasons we'll have more prospects in the system worth ooohing and aaahing over than we've ever had before and more in the wings still. Taking a 3-4 year development curve for most of our prospects only sucks now. It sure won't suck when we have a team full of young gamers with even more in the CHL/Europe and AHL waiting to make the big show. No need to rush
  3. Tkachuk Sergachev McAvoy DEBRINCAT!!!! Trust CDC to find a way
  4. Pffft Could have had [insert prospect I knew nothing about until hindsight here] instead of this bust
  5. Yes they did. People keep finding reasons as to why Foote would not be available but there's almost no question Tampa is already a cup contender, tied for 1st in the odds with....Toronto (blech) and contending teams don't need to be as patient with a cup on the horizon in regards to prospects And since we know without question whoever we draft this year will be the wrong guy, like last year; the year before and the year before that might as well just offer our first But for king dorsett...we want them to add
  6. Zac Hamill I had too. The one thing I am going to lean on now as I have been lately is that with Sergachev doing so well we should be trying to pry Cal Foote from Yzerman He doesn't need THAT much wealth
  7. Alternatively we see Nicushkin, De'angelo and more that drop but never over come those same reasons for dropping. Take my +1 for a reasonable post sir.
  8. Hey pal Mind inserting your meat somewhere else
  9. I would but I'm more of the mind now that since Crosby we hear the words "generational talent" every 2nd or 3rd draft. Therefore we get spoiled and lead to believe that the 1st overall should always be a Mcjesus when the reality is a Stamkos Tavares or MacKinnon is more the norm
  10. 2005: Benoit Pouliot, Gilbert Brule, Jack Skille, Devin Setoguchi, Brian Lee 2006: Jordan Staal, Derrick Brassard, Kyle Okposo, James Shephard 2007: James van Reimsdyk, Thomas Hickey, Karl Alzner, Sam gagner, Zach Hamill 2008: Zach Bogosian, Luke Shcenn, Nikita Filatov, Colin Wilson, Mikael Boedker, Joshua Bailey 2009: Evander Kane, Brayden Schenn, Scott Glennie, Jared Cowen 2010: Erik Gudbranson, Brett Conolly, Jeff Skinner, Alexander Burmistrov 2011: Gabriel Landeskog, Ryan Strome, Mika Zabinejad, 2012: Nail Yakupov, Alex Galchenyuk, Griffin Reinhardt, Derrik Pouliot What do all of these picks have in common? All of them are/were top 10 picks. All of them were slated to be either top line, top 6 or top 4 players in their draft years. ALL of them failed to live up to their draft positions and were either out played by players behind them in their draft years or never panned out like their potential dictated they should. Look at that list. We currently have 4 top 10 picks that failed to live up to their expectations on other teams. In hindsight any one of us could build a dynasty team if we had this knowledge. But we don't. Neither do GMs. Every single year teams miss in the top 10, hell looking at that list we can see a couple teams missed consistently in the top 5. The one thing that is different about what we're doing over some of those names is development. A good deal of those names were in the league immediately after their draft years or after 1 single year of development. OJ may or may not pan out. We can look and say Sergachev/Tkachuk/MacAvoy etc etc etc etc all would have been better picks. But just look at that list and understand that teams miss ALL the time with higher picks than 5th and 6th.
  11. Lol that was Jagr himself. He was very vocal about coming to north America and the conditions around it. Just can't stop shaking my head at endless hindsight brigade
  12. OMG i cannot believe we passed on Jagr and and and...wait. Am I whinging correctly or do I need to be more current and preparing myself for our obviously blown draft pick this upcoming draft instead?
  13. Anyone see what Mayor Moonbeam just did? Passed resolution stating that only locals will be eligible for pre-sale units/buildings when first listed http://dailyhive.com/vancouver/vancouver-priority-pre-sale-homes-plan-approved-october-2017 Vancouver City Council has approved a motion to give Metro Vancouver residents priority in pre-sale home purchases in the city. The motion, proposed by Mayor Gregor Robertson, was approved by Council members in a regular meeting on Tuesday. It was approved in a 7-2 vote, with both NPA councillors George Affleck and Melissa De Genova opposed. The motion asks City staff to create a framework for new development applications that gives people who live and work in Metro Vancouver the first chance to buy new pre-sale homes here. In a release announcing the proposal earlier this month, Robertson said anyone living and working in the region would be eligible for priority purchase, regardless of citizenship. At the time, Robertson said his priority as Mayor is to deliver new housing supply for the people who live and work in Vancouver, first and foremost. The new policy could follow the example of a program previously used in West Vancouver, where officials struck a deal with Westbank developers for a development in Horseshoe Bay. That deal stipulated: Pre-sales could only be marketed to locals during the first 30 days, and then to residents of Metro Vancouver for the next 60 days Pre-sale buyers would have to sign a statutory declaration to show their intention to live in the building and not flip their unit for profit Bulk purchases of units would be restricted

  15. Just curious as to how big your nose is Because I know it shouldn't have to be large to smell the BS you keep shoving around here. You want instant results? You came to the wrong place. No stomach for a rebuild that is in reality barely in it's 3rd season. Go cheer for another team

  21. rockets now 5th in the WHL and standouts Kole Lind, Dillon Dube are leading the team with 16 year old Nolan Foote sitting just below a PPG
  22. How does that add up for ppgand more importantly how does that add up against the SHL?
