2017 NHL Draft - Chicago, Illinois June 23-24 2017

Interesting. It would almost HAVE to be Seabrook. But that would also mean more coming to Arizona as well. This would actually be good for vancouver. It would leave Chicago even more depleted, leaving them good enough to be a playoff team but not good enough to contend and immediately make Arizona a better than bottom 5 finisher leaving vancouver and Colorado to duke it out in the west for worst overall! But....with Hossa miraculously off the books they're not in the same cap trouble they were 5 days ago so the onus isn't entirely pressing to find that cap space. I think a lot of it will play in to who is off the board between 1 and 6 -

If a D DOES go top 2 it REALLY screws things up Hischier and Patrick are supposed to be the 1-2 if it goes either and a D, it leaves Dallas picking one of them or a D, Colorado has the same option. This leaves Vancouver with an almost sure shot at Vilardi/Glass/pick of the D or in the event of a truly wtf moment one of Patrick or hischier Possibly the only exciting moment of the draft not at the #5 slot -

Hey Come on man. You might have posted the only credible argument as to why we shouldn't. You're taking the fun out of it -

So...we're drafting Cal Foote? Makar will not struggle. Your incredible unwillingness to accept he's a minimum of 3-5 years from even sniffing the NHL as per his own admittance that he wants to stay in college for 2 or 3 years is crazy 2-3 years in college 1-2 years in the AHL A 4-5 year development timeline where he'll be playing against men. Grown men. At solid levels of competition. The guy has skating vision and speed that is NHL grade. The rest are things easily built off of. I stand by it, do not be shocked if Makar is taken top 5. I've said that for months now, much like I was on the Honka train a few years back and some projected him outside the 1st round. Those skills translate -

There's literally 0 difference in this statement when applied to Makar or ANY other prospect. Hope you're aware of that There's no wrongh answer in who we draft this year because everyone of the players slated at 5th checks all the needed boxes for this team but all have question marks. Makar, Necas, Glass, Vilardi, Liljegren, Heiskanen. Part of me though; is hoping we take Makar now no matter what. Just to see the endless pages of whinging about him. -

There's literally 0 wrong move between Glass and Vilardi honestly. Both right shooting centers. Both have question marks about skating. Both put up decent points. Both will be large centers (Vilardi being far heavier and bigger already) There's no wrong pick. The only benefit to Vilardi is his age August 16 1999 vs Glass at April 1st 1999 And even THAT is a serious debate for benefit. Vilardi is currently taller and heavier, Glass apparently could grow more. No wrong answer there -
Hell I am still rooting for Kassian. How can anyone not, he might be the last pure hockey player out there Ugly, hits, fights, pots the odd point and is just a likeable oaf.

Meh, I've no issues with Glass or Vilardi so long as we ensure they get 2-3 years development in the CHL and full season in Utica. What does bug me is seeing Cal Foote going to Tampa or any other team. Have been on Cal Footes proverbial jock all year as a canucks pick. So hoping we can obtain another pick in the top 15 or better -

Fair enough. I still see the older kids beating on the younger kids but fighting yes less frequently. They all say fair game whenever possible from what I see really. Especially the Silverbacks in the BCJHL last season, they were all fair game for almost anyone -

LMAO sure they don't oh that's rich lol. They not only go after them for hits but just chew them up endlessly on the boards every chance they get. And if there's scouts in the stands it gets very very rough. Sorry man, but they sure do go after them -

Rumours. No source to call credible Just wondering how people would feel and if they think that would change the direction of draft selection for the team -

Some rumours leaking out about Banning happy with a centre prospect for tanev. Names being Strome Reinhardt etc. Does this change things in regards to the draft if he indeed is targeting a player over a pick? Gets his center then drafts a long term D in Liljegren or Makar? -
Staying in the program has advantages, as partners can compete for billions of dollars worth of contracts associated with the building and maintaining F-35. They also get a discount when purchasing the plane. That latter point wasn't considered much of a benefit when Canada paid its annual instalment last year, as the Liberals had promised during the 2015 election not to buy the stealth fighter. The government instead went out of its way last July to highlight the potential benefits to Canada's aerospace industry when explaining why it had decided to stick with the program. Those industrial benefits continue to accrue, Lamirande said, with Canadian companies having secured US$926 million in F-35-related contracts over the last 20 years — including US$114 million in the last year alone. This is/was one of the reasons the initial payments were made and why they continue to be made. Not entirely a huge issue because it is providing jobs and money to Canadians in the aerospace industry.

2 Vezinas, a Conn Smythe and what 6 goals scored against him in the SCF in 2011 almost single handedly won the Bruins multiple 7 game series in that run. Ya...total trash, too bad he doesn't have the pedigree of Luongo right? Sorry bud, you can hate him, but you cannot say he's trash and expect to be called credible. He was absolutely stellar for almost 4 consecutive seasons -

No sir I agree The return Tanev brings plus our 5th and 2nds is a far better long term solution for this club than 1 move which might not even be the best in the draft -

Tanev and 55th to Dallas for Niemi and 3rd overall 3rd overall and 33rd for 1st. Honestly that's it. That's the only way I (as Benning or Canucks GM) would even consider it and even then I feel as though it's too much just to hold the shiny bauble that is the 1st overall pick I don't even want to consider packaging Tanev and the 5th OA just to move to 1st. The likelihood of someone being picked outside of t he first 2 spots being the better center is FAR to great to justify such a waste of assets when this team with it's need for quantity AND quality prospects could be so much better served trading Tanev + and trying to obtain another high 1st round pick and or top prospect/secondary pick -
