  1. Agreed, it was a pretty cut and dry C v D scenario but When the C's you're speaking of are two of the best to possibly ever play the game in the modern era in Sid and Malkin, vs a D corps with no Lidstrom, Pronger, Neidermeyer, Stevens or "pure generational D" with their top line center as well out of the series it's going to be one sided. High props to the Preds no doubt but the writing was on the wall for them. Defense like theirs took that Pens team to 6 and I for one am happy if the canucks for the first time ever start stockpiling D like that in 3-5 consecutive drafts. It is called the long game. Drafting and developing D knowing they will take longer; ensuring that cornerstone D is there before then swinging in to top offensive forwards via the draft and trade routes.
  2. You want Canuck Luck? Canucks DO trade to 3, Patrick falls to 3; we draft Patrick. Patrick flames out 4 years later due to chronic injuries and never progresses past oft injured 3rd liner. Canucks draft Petterson at 5. People moan, Petterson comes to the AHL and tears it UP. But never grows past 179 pounds and is unable to handle the abuse at the NHL level becoming a great international player, a solid AHL player but never establishes himself as a regular 3rd line player. canucks do though find a serviceable bottom 6 player in the 5th round and people claim a moral victory over it Now that sir, is canuck luck
  3. he’s a back-to-back winner of most valuable player and top blueliner in the Canadian Junior Hockey League. In his last two full seasons in the Alberta Junior Hockey League, he amassed 35 goals and 100 assists in 111 games. That alone commanded attention, but there was much more. At the 2017 World Junior A Championship in December, he had five goals and four assists in eight games. Makar also assisted on both goals in the RBC Cup final but the Bandits fell 3-2 in overtime to Ontario’s Cobourg Cougars. But...but...but...that's only the best in Junior A and against the best in Canada and the world. That skill won't translate. I mean...come on Am I Forsberging right
  4. Lmao...rebel media. Did you get asked for a handout for reading it?
  5. Yay arctic sovereignty! The same thing we've heard about since 2002!!!! Except no bases, no naval bases but...stealth snowmobile attempts
  6. http://news.nationalpost.com/news/canada/federal-warship-replacement-cost-swells-to-62-billion-now-more-than-twice-the-original-budget-pbo OTTAWA — The federal budget watchdog says the government’s multibillion-dollar effort to replace the navy’s warship fleet is now on track to cost taxpayers 2.4 times more than first expected. The parliamentary budget officer estimates it will cost Ottawa nearly $62 billion to replace 15 ships — more than twice the original 2008 budget of about $26 billion. Jean-Denis Frechette’s analysis says the per-ship price tag has grown to $4.1 billion — up from the $1.7-billion estimate in 2008. The report estimates the government would only be able to afford six ships if it tries to keep the program on budget. Ottawa launched a competition last fall asking some of the world’s largest defence and shipbuilding companies to design a potential replacement for the navy’s 12 frigates and three destroyers. The chosen designs will be constructed by Irving Shipbuilding in Halifax, and the new vessels are expected to arrive in the mid-2020s.
  7. That $32.7 billion doesn't even cover the cost overruns on the ships the Harper Government promised. Now in excess of $60 billion and climbing
  8. Watching his videos. He looks like Virtanen, without the physicality. We've no need for another winger in that mold.
  9. A low IQ fast north south winger. That sounds very familiar
  10. Virtanen had the best skating and best shot in his draft class as per numerous experts. That's almost impressive but we already have a Virtanen and if Benning chooses another one people will lynch him
  11. Have to agree to disagree man. I can see them shopping him in 2 seasons or so
  12. Once they get their crap together the entire premise on the game and their use of varying terrain maps (city jungle foliage and even a rumoured Hunger Games map) will make this game possibly one of the better ones I'll have played in a long while. I will say choking someone to death silently then hiding only to get bombs dropped on me from the "arena" was awesome and infuriating. I loved it
  13. I have actually asked this question twice now and NOBODY has actually answered it I'd capably say we have a Tippett in Virtanen and that Vesalainen/Tolvanen project as better overall wingers simply based on their on ice IQ.
  14. This is just my speculation, I feel Hischier will go 1st OA due to Patrick's health issues, leaving Philly a team in desperate need of goaltending the only possible player for the Habs since they interviewed him. Won't ever be as good as price? Huh...interesting. I'd argue that's a bit short sighted myself. You don't think the 2nd overall pick in a draft and a teams top prospect is solid return for the Habs in this instance? Goalies are currently a dime a dozen, MAF arguably more successful due to his cup wins and former vezina nod (so what if he didn't win) is rumoured to be a possible expansion cast off. At age 30, Price will not ever return a team a Matthews level prospect/player if he ever could FTFY Just saying, it happens and it doesn't always happen for the worst
  15. Arguably Horvat would be a top 5 talent in this years draft possibly top 3. I'd say Price is far and away better than Schneider at these points of their careers. Add in their 1st round pick and it's more than fair value for a top prospect and the 2nd overall in a weak draft. And if you're a broadstreet bullies fan you cannot discount how goaltending has cost them the last 20 years.
  16. Actually it isn't. He's 30 in 2 months, Fucale isn't doing terrible at all. The best time for MTL to move him is within the next 2 years. If they can net a return of a Patrick/Hischier and a star/stud prospect for him, say Ghostisbehere, Prorov or whatever and Philly FINALLY closes that issue they've had in net since Hextall left (ya it's been that long) I think both teams seriously consider it
  17. Wildly unlikely. I could see them moving Gally soon though and Price within a couple years as well with Fucale coming up. Maybe Simmonds and the 2nd OA for Price abd MTLs 1st this year.
  18. Someone sell me on Tippett. How he isn't Virtanen 2.0 Tell me how he's better than Tolvanen or Vesalainen using more than just points as your reasoning
  19. So...now we're arguing about what? I am lost here because in the last month 2 or 3 people have gone between what the word consensus means, what the word BPA means, what the difference between a defensive defenceman/offensive defenceman are and now what combine results mean or strength and conditioning and how it relates to athletic performance. Might be time to simply put the devices away and go outside gentlemen
  20. I'm not sure that matters. As another poster stated Benning very well could have spoken to him while out scouting Dahlen/Petterson/Timra
  21. They freely admit it's an open beta test and is incomplete. But it looks and plays very well
