  1. All I know is apparently he could be the greatest German forward to ever play the game or some such nonsense. I love how hyped these kids get
  2. But if you look at the Isles and Panthers' schedule in comparison to ours it's almost a guarantee they'll win more games than us.
  3. My issue with NYlander is he's just like his dad in the physical dept. Big Daddy NYlander had one awesome season after the lockout and really nothing before or after. I don't want to take the risk on a cream puff if it can be avoided. if we are drafting European Draistl but would still rather have Dal Colle or Virtanen
  4. Thatcher Demko is an absolute monster right now. Unsure if it will transfer into AHL let alone NHL but the guy is....well, check for yourself
  5. 1st Dalcolle or Virtanen 2nd Adam Olatts Mattson (shame we have so much goalie depth cause Thatcher Demko is sick) 3rd Alexis Vanier. That's with the picks we currently have. A super solid forward and 2 incredibly large and fairly mobile D men.

  7. No that's Buttons list, but pretty accurate in the 2nd and 3rd rounds. Barring Virtanen in the 2nd that is....

  10. Take away an incredible December and make it say...a .500 month, and we are in the bottom 5 in the league. As it stands we are 8th but the 2 teams directly behind us have 2 and 3 games at hand respectively and only a 4 point gap. Dal Colle....welcome to vancouver

      Warhippy

See, I like the idea fo Jamie Benn 2.0, but why can't we find our Weber, Subban or Benn in the 2nd rounds as well....

  11. For me I look at our prospects in the AHL, ECHL and CHL as well as Europe, we have NO natural RWs. Virtanen is a natural RW Go with the need.
  12. I would consider it, but with all of the talk of the Oilers wanting or trying to trade Gagner, it's possible they take Bennett or Reinhart instead. I'd be thrilled with that trade though, Yak + Dal Colle would be a serious gain for this team, especially if we could get Yak back on his own playing straight offense on this team full of 2 way pluggers
  13. No real argument but we basically are the same core really. People seem to fail to remember that all of these warning signs were here during 2011/2012 and all through last season. No depth, no secondary scoring and nobody to be a genuine leader in the forward group outside of Kesler. The whole thing needs to be redrawn and a coaching change won't cure a damned thing if the same issues are still in place for the new coach
  14. Fire Torts? Replace him with who? Sorry, the PP isn't working? oh that's right because the last season and a half we have been total PP monsters in the league right? Scoring isn't there? That's right, the last seasons and a half we have been 4 goal per game monsters... Straight up, AV couldn't get this club going. He got canned. Torts cannot get this club going and...it's a coaching problem? if two separate coaches cannot get this club going it is NOT a coaching issue, especially as one of those coaches won back to back presidents trophies and was in a SCF. it is not the coaches, start firing coaches now and ask yourself how firing coaches every season or so is helping the powerhouse Edmonton club.... It is the players, the core and nothing more. We need a roster change and maybe a GM change not a coaching change

I usually just make them in a non-stick pan, but Ive heard cooking them in the oven on a sheet is healthier?

  16. I just read your post and your nice insult and I wondered the same thing. Don't point fingers when you're guilty of the same thing
  17. almost 6 foot 2, 200+ pounds and 18 years old is small? That's the bio I am reading on him. even though hockey DB has him at 5 foot 11 and 180 pounds, his recent bios and everyone else has him much larger
  18. I think what we all need to remember is that once he packs on the 30 pounds he will need to be 195+ pounds he will quite honestly be slower less mobile and a lot less agile. Has anyone here ever gained 30 pounds before? I have, both working out to much and after a major surgery. You lose a lot of what makes you special. Ask yourselves how Patty Kane would have been had he packed on 30+ pounds from his draft year to say 3 years later? Not nearly as dynamic. If ehlers projects as a 30+ goal 80+ point guy now. What does a slower less mobile larger Ehlers translate into? 20 goals 60 points? I am sure everyone said the same about Schroeder, in fact I am sure we can peck through that thread as well. There are just as many dynamic offensive threats in the later first rounds that are just as much of a high risk/reward player yet of a larger frame and thus more suited to our division. Remember when Hank hit skinny little Nuge and Nuge went down for a near season ending shoulder surgery? That's the risk we run with Ehlers. I would much rather draft a guaranteed 60+ point player with decent size in a position we need such as RW (Virtanen) or D (if Ekblad is available) or LW (Ritchie/Perlini) that can hold their own in a hyper aggressive Pacific Division as opposed to a guy who could lose much of what makes him so magical by putting on lean muscle mass and having to be regulated to such a carb heavy diet to gain weight. I have seen his tapes, ehlers is incredible there is no doubt. But he's more suited to a skating division back east than a Sharks and Kings can do what they want physically in a size dependant division like the Pacific. That is all I am saying. If Ekblad or Reinhart aren't available, Dal Colle is gone. We can grab Ritchie, Virtanen, Perlini and be thrilled with our luck while (in the event of getting another 1st this year) taking a flyer on a one dimensional offensive threat in the 1st or 2nd round, or we can risk our luck on ehlers and hope he doesn't Schroeder on us
  19. He is also entering one of, if not the largest and meanest division in hockey if we draft him and lets be honest....Schroeder is highly skilled as well, not translating into a solid game. Anyone that slight at that age is not going to pack on much weight without losing a decent amount of speed and mobility and at that point he's a liability, to much risk really for not enough chance of reward.
  20. It sticks in the back of my throat that I am actually hoping for a couple of consecutively bad seasons from my team. Finishing out this season and then having a bad 2015 and 2016 with consecutive top 5 or 10 picks will be exactly what this team needs moving forward. Keeping our picks, losing the old guard and holding on to our character guys. Yes it bugs me to hope we do poorly but if we don't....well, you know

Nothing wrong with our scouting over the last 2 or 3 seasons. If anything they've been finding us solid gems in the later rounds. Hard to keep complaining about scouting really when you look at what is in our system and where they were drafted

    3. CatsPajamas

      CatsPajamas

the real gamble is going for the top picks. Being bad enough to get into the top 3, isn't easy, Too many NTCs. This team isn't built to fail that badly.

    4. CatsPajamas

      CatsPajamas

yea that is true. It looks like it has improved. Kind of earlier to say.

  21. 165 pound 18 year old? yikes lol staying away from Ehlers. Virtanen is the best RW in the draft by all accounts. Dal Colle would be awesome to go with Cassels.
  22. The difference is Calgary could give him top 6 minutes, Horvat will start on our third line most likely unless we have a huge change of heart and core in the off season. Any player breaking in to the league on a top 6 role will look good for a rookie, or at least should
  23. Holy crap ehlers 162 pounds...at his age? He'd get snapped like a twig in the AHL even....
  24. I really do think if the people on CDC are indicative of the entire Canucks fanbase, than most of the Canucks fanbase is full of bi-polar and entitled 14 year old girls. Our team is in a bad place, this is far and away from 1996 through 1999. You don't know what abject failure is. they're still my team. And they're still better than Edmonton

Thank you Deb, and yes. I mean come on. Our team is bad, but we have been the best team in the league or top 3 for almost 5 straight seasons. We set regular season records have award winners to show for it. No reason to start crapping on everything. be critical, be supportive but don't start hating your team.

.. how can we find joy in winning unless we share the agony of defeat? .. there have been much darker days .. I believe we will be a hard team to play against next year, and a growing 'force' in '15'/'16 with the Sedins as the second line and youth driving us forward ..

i feel sorry for the players...they seem to have given up...who's fault?....i don't know....someone smarter than me has to figure that out....hard to think this team can turn it around and make the playoffs...draft is all there is to look forward to....summer....
