  2. Maata is not going anywhere. Why do people keep saying we want him? Letang is gone, possibly for the season. Martin is gone for 4-5 weeks with a busted up hand or something. Taking Maata out of the picture leaves the Penguins with maybe 3 quality D men. I find it troubling this has been said so often yet the same people keep trying to suggest his name in trade proposals Think of it like this. if the canucks were a top 3 team in the west, and Luongo got hurt. Would we trade Lack? Obviously not. So please, understand Maata is not going anywhere. And for that exact same reason neither is Nyquist
  3. Why....there is NO point trading them together unless every prospect worthy of the name in Philli is coming back and even then we'd have to eat serious cap for it to happen. Kesler ='s Top young player, top prospect and 1st round pick (+?) Edler ='s Young player, Prospect and 1st round pick (?) So why trade them together for less?
  4. Since January 14th, I have posted the daily trade rumours from TSN. There is 368 total posts in that thread. As of today, exactly 0 trades talked about by TSN in the daily trade rumours have happened. Ridiculous non?

Since Jan 14th TSN reported MIller being traded in a dozen rumours to 6 different teams. I think even Eklund has a better ratio

EXactly, which is why i've been posting those. Imagine the noise, clutter and mess is they'd been posted daily alone instead of in a single thread. Following that mes would be a nightmare

  5. Blue line help for Red Wings? In addition to what he reported in Insider Trading, TSN Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun wrote on ESPN.com that the Detroit Red Wings are believed among the teams looking at defenceman Christian Ehrhoff. More than half of Ehrhoff's $40 million contract will be paid out by the end of the season. Where Could He Go? The Vancouver Province's Ben Kuzma writes that Ryan Kesler won't waive his no-trade clause for the Columbus Blue Jackets and adds that the Pittsburgh Penguins, Philadelphia Flyers and Detroit Red Wings are the front runners for his services. Kuzma speculates that Brayden Schenn or Sean Couturier could address the Canucks' needs if Philly is in the mix. Options for Columbus Aaron Portzline of The Columbus Dispatch examines some deadline options for the Blue Jackets, which includes adding an experienced defenceman, and a gritty forward. Portzline adds that the team could hold on to Marian Gaborik - up to the trade deadline - to see he will generate a good return. If not, they could keep him for the rest of the season. The column also speculates trading forward Cam Atkinson if they can make an improvement in return. Never Count Out Pittsburgh... Rob Rossi of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review says says Kesler, defenceman Marek Zidlicky of the New Jersey Devils and Edmonton's Ales Hemsky are among the players the Penguins have interest in going into Wednesday's deadline. ...Or Philly For That Matter According to Frank Seravalli of The Philadelphia Daily News, the Flyers have tabled a 'substantial offer' for Kesler and are also interested in Canucks defenceman Alex Edler.
  6. I would even add our 3rd 4th and 5th round picks to facilitate that deal or add a minor prospect
  7. This is under the assumption that one or two additions makes this team competitive again though isn't it? Once Kesler/edler/Luongo goes it's rebuild time. And for the sake of the team all three of them moving for maximum return is our best option. bringing in large contracts won't help us and won't change anything
  8. Why would we want him to? Half this teams problem is redundancy. To many players doing similar things. Bringing in Kunitz doesn't help that
  9. Problem is we have Burrows already. We don't need another. And take Kunitz away from the high powered Pitts team and he is back to 2nd/3rd liner like in Anaheim
  10. The issue with that is taking 2 centers away now leaves them less than redundant and weak in depth down the middle. I'd be happy with Wennberg but wouldn't be unhappy with Rychel at all
  11. I think it's fair to note Kesler would be a huge draw for columbus as he spent almost 5 years playing in Ohio. As well I was pretty loud leading up to the draft about dealing Kesler to Columbus for jenner and a couple of picks. And finally, Kesler gives Columbus something they don't have yet. An almost guaranteed shot at the playoffs. Youth is good, but redundant youth, not so much. We have redundant youth at LHD. Columbus is going to have redundant youth at the c position very soon with jenner Rychel Umberger Johansen Atkinson Wennberg and more in their system. Jenner + Rychel + 1st for Kesler gives them a solid shut down PP specialist player that they'll have to wait for Jenner to develop into. Losing a single prospect a redundant player in jenner (if Kesler is brought in) and a pick is not too terribly bad if the actual return is entrance into the playoffs, improved recognition via local star and more merch sales.
  12. ON that note, and please don't take offense. We have to wonder what Pouliot would look like having played a PP with crosby neal malkin etc. Until we see that we just don't know.
  13. No worries bud. I think we are ALL getting excited at a possible return here
  14. Uhh...never said he wasn't. Jenner was his centerman when he played junior in Canada.
  15. If we could do that, it gives Jensen back the center he scored all his junior points with. A kesler replacement with beef to him AND another 1st this year. And this year we would finally have the ability to actually do something we haven't in a while. Draft high risk offensive players. Virtanen and...Goldobin, Scherbak, Barbashev, Kapanen? I would be sold with jenner Rychel/Murray and a 1st. Cause then we could also flip edler for more. Possibly LUongo for even more. Competing in 2 seasons
  16. Again people please listen. THEY CANNOT GIVE UP MAATA Letang and Martin are injured....this would leave them with NO defense. Take Pouliot and be damned happy because he is the type of D man we do not have on our system.
  17. OK see now we are seeing eye to eye. Think of it like this. If we can say squeeze B Schenn ++, Jenner ++ (the ++ being a winger and a 1st) than we can draft our next center. As it stands right now this team is NOT making the playoffs. 3 teams directly behind us within 2 points and having 2 or 3 games at hand. Losing Kesler means rebuild. If we were competing and had the depth available i'd do Kesler + for Johansen. but we are not. moving Kesler signals at least a full season rebuild in 2015. I know Johansen is a stud, no question. but so is Wennberg, So is Horvat, Rychel, Jenner, B Schenn and all bring a specific aspect we need. Pitts giving us bennet and Pouliot (as they will not move Maata with martin and Letang injured) is also good. we have a chance at almost cannot miss prospects from the last 2 seasons and if done right we could squeeze 2 prospects from last years draft (giving us 4 overall 1st round picks int he uber deep 2013 draft) from columbus and a pick. while they might not translate into playing this or next season. they'll help this club out immensely. Because like it or not. Once Kesler is moved we are officially rebuilding. And this means the rest of this season. Plus next season. Then an additional season or two on top of that while our prospects/rookies find their footing. So at that point we then have a 25-26 year old Johansen or a few 22-23 year old uber prospects. Because like it or not. If we have Shinkaruk, Horvat and say any two of Wennberg Rychel Pouliot Mantha Jenner and another 1st round pick from Kesler, we have a few almost cannot miss career NHL players as opposed to one. And I would much rather have 3 or 4 cannot miss career players over 1 single uber prospect. That and we could again laugh at Calgary and edmonton as we rebuild in almost no time at all and are competing again quicker than most think possible
  18. Wennberg is a 6 foot 1 swedish stud point getter of a center. Questionable 2 way game but fast amazing pass. Think Backstrom esque. Jenner though is Kesler with mroe potential offensive upside and Bieksa like snarl 6 foot 2 211 pounds and a solid wrist shot and decent 2 way game. Honestly if we are getting Jenner back and Rychel with a pick, its HUGE moving forward. Jenner Murray also good, Wennberg ++ it's a cannot lose. I like Jenner because he has that ugly 2 way game we need when playing against the California teams
  19. That is not an outlandish statement though. Would you have, could you have predicted Burrows would be so snakebitten this year? That Daniel couldn't buy a goal out of nowhere? That Heatly would go from 50+ goals a year to literally nothing Players slump. Losing Horvat + Kesler for one guy who could slump (yes I know he's a solid kid but anything can happen) at any point like that when there is a far greater potential return available is rather silly. So on that note, yes I AM indeed making a case that all players can slump significantly. but wouldn't you feel better with 3 genuine chances at solid top 4 or top 6 players for their positions as opposed to just 1 single guy for basically the entire future of this team moving forward?
  20. For the record in regards to Nyquist and Maata remember the following everyone. Letang is most likely done for the season. Martin is gone for a decent amount of time. They will not detract from their blue line to upgrade their forwards when their forwards are not the issue. Maata is a non starter for obvious reasons at that point. Detroit will not part with Nyquist because Zetterburg and Datsyuk are both banged up. Nyquist is currently on the roster and single handedly driving their offense. They will not detract from that by adding Kesler. it would be like us looking to rent a player while Daniel Sedin is injured. for this reason, Pouliot and his potential, and Mantha and his potential ++ should be our goals. Mantha gives us that big powerful RW with huge offensive upside we need (outside of Kassian) and Pouliot gives us a solid PMD with ok size we need in our system. Again, neither team will give up those key pieces from their roster for these very obvious reasons.
  21. But there you go again. ALL of the available offers rumoured include. 1st round pick. Center under 25 (asset) top blue chip prospect No matter how good Johansen might be in 5 seasons, he could also go Daigle at any point in time. So then you also offer our top prospect since the Sedins or Linden. So by association let us do the math. Kesler (1st, 25 under roster player, top prospect) and Horvat (Schneider) For....Johansen Now, how does that look to you? A franchise or decade defining trade messed up will not propel this team ahead but leave it spinning its wheels or regressing. So before you start getting all insulting and smarmy. Do the math that I just showed you and now tell me that Kesler + Horvat is a good deal for us when we only get back Johensen
  22. So. In one sentence you contradict yourself twice. Interesting. you're giving up kesler + our stud prospect for a guy who is having a single break out season. Are you on drugs? That would be like Pocklington adding Messier to the Gretzky trade....just because. Johansen is good. But not worth us giving up ++ for him. Jenner ++ for kesler is a solid trade depending on the ++ offering Kesler AND Horvat for Johansen is basically asking to be prison sexed.
  23. I wouldn't. I would do kes for Jenner ++ and then flip edler for B Schenn if one of the ++ wasn't Wennberg. People greatly underestimate Jenner, the guy was a two time leader for the OHL in pints. He never actually finished the year out as the points leader but was top 5. He's got great potential to be a solid offensive forward + grit and I think would be an easier sell than Johansen. The issue is, is that we are trying to get value back and build that depth not get value back without the depth. Jenner is a stud and could replace Kesler in all the ways we want. flipping Edler as well only helps shore up any other areas we are deficient in.
  24. So give up 2 franchise defining centers for 1 21 year old? Enough internet for you today
