  1. Switch Horvat with Gaunce and Tanev with Tomernes and that's a shade better. I'd be happy to throw in a 2nd 3rd and 4th as well for that offer. Just cannot fathom losing Kesler AND Horvat in a single deal
  2. Flip it and Reverse It? The Buffalo Sabres made the first big move of the pre-trade deadline season by dealing Ryan Miller and Steve Ott for Chris Stewart, Jaroslav Halak and draft picks, but they are probably far from done dealing. TSN Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun believes the Sabres could look to flip Stewart before Wednesday. LeBrun believes the Sabres may consider Stewart as a possible fit for the team's rebuilding core, given that he has one year remaining on his contract and is still only 26. However, LeBrun countered, the offers on Stewart could also be enticing to the Sabres with the Ottawa Senators believed to be interested in the forward dating back to before Friday's blockbuster. Out of Oil If this is Ales Hemsky's last week in an Oiler uniform, the Czech forward appears ready for whatever comes next. It could be my last two games in this locker-room, so I better enjoy it,” the 30-year-old winger said after practice on Friday. “I want to enjoy every moment I'll spend with the guys, with my friends, with the people I know." “I'm ready for it. I'm excited.” With a provincial showdown with the Flames on tap for Saturday it could provide one last battle-ground for the winger, who is slated to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1. Strictly Business Cory Schneider doesn't want to see his crease-mate Martin Brodeur traded, but understands that if the 41-year-old does get moved it's just part of the business of being an NHL player. “Marty is big part of this team and has been forever. I'm not sure there is any player as synonymous with the franchise as Marty has been or is. So it wouldn't be just anybody leaving this team. It would be the most important player in the franchise's history,” the 27-year-old netminder told The Star-Ledger. Schneider, of course, is no stranger to speculation, having endured years of rumours in Vancouver playing alongside Roberto Luongo. The way that situation played out this off-season – resulting in his relocation to New Jersey – has shown Schneider that anything is possible. “It would be difficult for everybody, but that's kind of what happens. I didn't think I was going to get traded and I did. It happens. It could happen to anybody.”
  3. For those counting, that is 2 of the largest names in goaltending off of the market. Market becomes a shade less saturated. Luongo still has an out this year

    2. Henrik Kesler

      Henrik Kesler

And one of the better rental centers, so Kes's value is going to go up.

    3. Keslerific

      Keslerific

Well Luongo is definitely staying, moving him makes no sense. Kesler if the return was big enough makes sense I guess but he's staying so that ain't happening

Nobody is saying Kesler is staying. Anything can happen. Why is Lou definetly staying? he could force Gillis hand at any time or just simply not report. This is a team hiding behind the Sedins and needing a rebuild. Trading Kesler, Edler and Luongo should give us everything we need for said rebuild.

  4. Vancouver trading Luongo + for Moulson and Stewart Kidding but ya, no chance Buffalo is done yet
  5. Kinda realizing that now almost 6 k posts later it's like trying to reason with a meth addict on a cleaning spree
  6. They've plenty of pieces Vancouver would find appealing. And with the pieces Van has that they could send back. Yes I find it very possible that there is a deal there.
  7. So....columbus who is only 4 points out of 6th place in the east with a game at hand is not in a position to compete with their depth, young stars and vets? You're horribly contradicting yourself you know and not citing any reasons either statistical or otherwise to back your claims up. Opinions mean exactly nothing when weighed against facts.
  8. This is where you post sources video and evidence or get torn apart for fanning the fire of an already rabid fan base. If you didn't see it with your own eyes don't post it, if you cannot produce evidence do not produce a rumour
  9. Oh that's right. I forgot RJ Umberger calls the shots in Columbus, not Davidson and Kekkalainen
  10. Because Kesler didn't spend 5 years of his professional life playing in Columbus which is barely 3 hours from his hometown of Livonia Michigan. No chance he waives for Columbus
  11. No worries man. But mods and the regulars will chew this apart just based on those reasons
  12. This is already being discussed in another thread. And it is a pointless discussion. Lou is going nowhere. Like literally nowhere during the season.
  13. You need to cite a source, you need to be credible doing it. And you need to udnerstand that is the weakest return we've heard of yet. even the pitts return was better
  14. The issue with Sutter is that Gaunce already has the skill set to translate into a better overall offensive and defensive player than him in his career if his ceiling is only a 3rd line center. Gaunce's hockey IQ is through the roof. As has been said Sutter is a return we have a ton of in our system already. No more redundancy. Neal, I would take a pass on as well. The issue is, if we are not getting a bonafide blue chip NHL ready prospect back like Johansen or Couturier than we need to accept that picks/prospects are going to be the full return and that the rebuild is on. Which in the event of a Kesler trade it already would be. Bennett and Maata are the two players Pitts has that this team needs in spades in the organization. Players we don't really have at any position let alone a depth of. Simple addition really. Losing Kesler translates into a 2 year rebuild at the least. And sadly, that is what this team needs. Open the windows trade some core players and rebuild because we are stale, boring and have been figured out in the league
  15. Yup. I think people forget that very obvious truth if Kesler and edler ARE in fact available at the trade deadline Then they are the two best players available at the deadline in about a decade or longer that are under the age of 30 and under decent contract. Things to think about
  16. Eyes On Brodeur? Randy Miller of NJ.com writes that Chicago Blackhawks director of player personnel Pierre Gauthier and pro scout Dennis Bonvie attended Thursday night's Devils-Blue Jackets game, as well as Minnesota Wild assistant general manager Jim Mill. Miller mentions that, according to rumours, both teams have been linked to Martin Brodeur. Still Shopping Around Bruce Garrioch of The Ottawa Sun wrote this week that the Senators could be interested in St. Louis Blues winger Chris Stewart and adds that the team likely won't be involved in the race for for Thomas Vanek and Matt Moulson unless the asking price goes down. Garrioch also reports that there's been interest in veteran blueliner Chris Phillips and forward Milan Michalek. The Sun story says it's not known if they've talked contract with GM Bryan Murray and a decision on them may have to be made before Wednesday. Market For Mez? Philly.com writer Sam Carchidi writes that Flyers GM Paul Holmgren faces a tough decision on pending UFS defenceman Andrej Meszaros - trade him or keep him for the stretch run. Carchidi adds that the Boston Bruins - without Dennis Seidenberg for the season - are among the teams reportedly interested and that Bruins captain Zdeno Chara could be 'nudging the Bruins to add Meszaros.' Carchidi also speculates that the Flyers could get a third-round pick or a prospect for Meszaros. No Big Sales In Sunrise Florida Panthers GM Dale Tallon may be a seller, but he won't be conducting an all-out fire sale, writes George Richards of the Miami Herald. "We're going to do what's best for the Panthers to build a championship team," Tallon said during the recent Olympic break. "We're not blowing this thing up. If we can sell some assets to get better, we'll do that. It depends what happens in the next few weeks. We'll be aggressive either way." There's ample trade speculation surrounding pending UFAs Tim Thomas, Brad Boyes and Tom Gilbert, but Tallon said all three, 'deserve to stick around if they so wish.' "Those guys have had good years and deserve the chance to stay," he said. "I'm happy with the way they've played, happy with their professionalism." Richards adds that other free agents the Panthers could offer include Marcel Goc, Mike Weaver and Dmitry Kulikov.
  17. The Buffalo Sabres' trade deadline objectives could extend far beyond dealing Ryan Miller. TSN Hockey Insiders Bob McKenzie and Darren Dreger reported this week that general manager Tim Murray is listening in on offers for almost every player on the roster and McKenzie added Friday that while there's no guarantee he'll be traded, the Sabres have asked blueliner Christian Ehrhoff for - as his no-trade clause stipulates - a list of eight teams he doesn't want to be traded to. Ehrhoff, 31, signed a 10-year deal with the Sabres worth $40 million in 2011. He earned $18 million in the first two years of the contract. The deal then pays $4 million from years three to six and he'll collect $3 million in year seven. He then earns $1 million in each of the remaining three years. Ehrhoff has six goals and 28 points in 57 games with the Sabres this season.
  18. I'll take that Pittsburgh or Philadelphia deal for Kesler and run. I'll take that Detroit deal and run as well although id rather have Mantha.
