seeing Toffoli on the Habs is pain...

you'd think Reaves is a superstar with how much attention he's getting

I have a feeling the players might strike the two games tomorrow. There's increased pressure for the NHL to do something or do more after today, I wouldn't be surprised if the NHL follows other leagues tomorrow. I'm really excited for the Nucks game but it's just a feeling I have

The moment of reflection prior to Bruins Bolts anthems today was a joke, but I also find all moments of silence to be fleeting and disingenuous.
The NHL is the bottom rung of the Big 4 sports ladder in the US. I'm not saying it wouldn't be newsworthy if they walked away, but it doesn't hold the same cache as NBA and MLB.
If they choose not to play I support it. If they play, I'll watch.
Curious to see what happens with teams not named Clippers and Lakers after they voted to boycott the season.
-
I'm not sure what the NHL can do? Police overhaul is the first thing that comes to mind, and that's a big undertaking that would start with politics.
When Trump got elected I knew that he would be terrible for people living in States, and not bad for the rest of the world (less wars). He just created a war in his own country. It's insane how polarized that country has gotten. On one hand there is such a thing as creative destruction, and things weren't going to change if people didn't rise up. On the other hand, it's going to be hard to re conciliate when the tensions rise so high that there are armed groups roaming the streets in the states.

Juice looks like a stud

one of my family members mentioned that a Nucks player was seen at a nightclub recently and I immediately knew it was Jake Virtanen before I even looked into it lol
-
@Squamfan definitely not hating on him being there, just that he seems to always be the one getting in hot water, whether it's deserved or not
-
@-Stammer- He's always been the fan's whipping boy since he didn't live up to his draft position, so he's scrutinized for everything he does. He did come to camp out of shape a couple times (fair criticism), but now his game is turning the corner, would have hit 20+ goals/assists this year had the season not been cancelled, so now that his detractors can't say anything bad about his game, they have to attack his character, and judge his every move in private life. This anti-Jake crowd is immovable in their opinions, much like the orange asshat's supporters down south.
Does he have some growing to do still? Obviously, but I feel this whole thing is blown out of proportion. And people forget that they weren't exactly beacons of maturity when they were 23.

Can someone who studies at BCIT tell me the difference between an associate's certificate and a certificate? Which one would be better for me if I were to pursue a masters degree?

@Jimmy McGill My bad I meant a bachelor's degree, wasn't thinking and wrote masters. I'm looking towards a bachelor's in Accounting but i'm not sure whether I should take the associate certificate course (computerized accounting) or the cert course (Professional accounting). The cert course has a higher work load and it's more expensive but i'm willing to do it if it will set me up to excel in my diploma course and eventually my bachelors course.
-
@Squamfan I taught a medical quality systems and a regulatory affairs course. I can feel your excitement.
@-Stammer- oh i see. BCIT does offer the 4 year bachelors once you have a 2 year diploma. So both of the one year certs would probably offer courses that counted towards your diploma but you'd have to set up a call with them to find out which one gave you the most credits towards the diploma. BCIT is very good at this kind of thing but the exact specifics but they typically try to ladder in everything you've done to the BA. I'd fire off an email to these folks: https://www.bcit.ca/study/programs/8630bacc#contacts
basically the system is set up as certificate leads to diploma leads to bachelors

watching all of these old games reminds me that Sportsnet's current theme is awful compared to Canadian Gold and the original theme. Sounds more like a news report and isn't memorable at all

anyone got any laptop recommendations for a student? Preferably under $950

New Egg is probably a good place to start they will swap parts for you so you only pay for what you need. Start with the platform style you like with the best possible processor stuff as much ram in it as you can afford. 256mb solid state drive should be fine as youre probably better off investing in external drives rather than internal.

can anyone here who has camped at Cultus Lake let me know if there's a cell signal there?
-
can people chill with advanced stats? McDavid could have like a 10 point game and there would be at least one person all like "actually his BLT was -2.4 this game and his NBA was 0.1 he played like garbage"
-
i'm pissed about that call as a fan of neither of these teams, I can't imagine actually being a Blues fan rn

Cogliano is going to think about that miss in overtime for the entire summer... ouch

@Nuxfanabroad. Yeah I too haven't forgotten the classless comments Benn made towards the Sedins. Made worse in that he's from around here. Yeah Seguin said crude things as well but he already had a bad rep when he was a Bruin

@NewbieCanuckFan Funny, weren't them 2 publicly called out by the guy who writes the cheques? Ha..throw money at'em, them make them feel like used wh*res! Apropos.

Bobrovsky just went from the reason Columbus is losing to the reason they're still in the game in one period, wow

Leafs fans bashing the Canucks for not making the playoffs for the last three seasons are the greatest...

it doesn't truly feel like the hockey season until half of our team is injured or shaken up

99% sure I saw Brandon Carlo in a food court on Waterfront today, looked just like him and was wearing a suit. Thanks for coming to my TED Talk

This is a stupid question, but do you know what your hard drive looks like? If so, unplug both cables, and reinsert them (plus dust out as well). It sounds like the cable isn't seated properly, and may have come loose when you moved it.. If it is intermittently booting up, that may be a postive thing. If the hard drive is failing, they often just flat out die, or they will make a really funny clicking noise. That said, I would still backup your data as best you can, just to be safe.
-
Run this utility after backing up your important files (I recommend Google Drive, you get quite a lot of storage for free): https://www.howtogeek.com/134735/how-to-see-if-your-hard-drive-is-dying/
It will tell you if the hard drive is crapping out, you'll have to buy a new one if that's the case. Getting Windows back onto the machine will be a different beast all together. Depends on if you have a big box PC (dell, lenovo, gateway, etc) or if it was a custom built. EIther way you'll either need your manufacturers restore DVDs or your original discs for windows with the genuine license key.
If you don't have either of those, then you can purchase legit keys online for fairly cheap here: https://www.keyshoponline.com/
Buy a license, download (I recommend upgrading to Windows 10, Windows 7 is end of life) from here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-ca/software-download/windows10
Pay special attention to the key youre buying if going that route, and just get the matching ISO from Microsoft. Burn it to a USB, swap the hard drives and you should be good. You may have to adjust your BIOS settings to make sure it boots from USB, or look in your manual for the keyboard short cut to force the boot menu to pop up.
Good luck.

are Tanev and Edler the only remaining Canucks from the 2011 team?

@Alflives a buyouts a bit like a divorce isn’t it? You’re paying them not to see you

it's funny how quick some Canuck fans (mostly from twitter or instagram) go from saying "we need to get bigger and tougher" when we draft Hughes, then say "we need more talent and speed" when we sign gritty players like Roussel and Beagle.
-
Those fans aren't very subjective and do very little to inform themselves. They take what they hear on 1040 or read in Canucks Army and glom onto it.
Having a team that has youth, speed, and skill is great, but if you leave your younger players without any guidance or protection, their development may suffer for it.
-
I think Phil is correct, plus I think there are a lot of people on twitter that make comments but aren't actually fans.
I'm really happy about the new players and the kids this year. I couldn't give a crap about the cap or term, it means nothing. The funniest article is Yost trying to make sense of it I get the feeling that they are worried that the plan is going to work.

I was actually having a decent day until Tavares happened

ouch, Boeser at #7 is crazy

people are just going to keep doubting Vegas, huh? They made it to the SCF and deserved to be there yet i'm still seeing people on forums and comment sections saying they're one season wonders. This team is the real deal, I thought they would cool off after October and they kept proving me wrong, some people still think of them as a normal $&!#ty expansion team and they deserve some respect

Totally agree with @J-23
Vegas got where they did this year only because MAF played beyond great. We saw, again, the real MAF against the Caps. He was terrible. No playoffs for Vegas next season.
