Loui was a top scorer UFA. No one could’ve predicted he would not turn out at all for Vancouver. Sutter was a great stop gap at center while Horvat got some grip, which made the Canucks’ transition through its youth movement go smoother. Beagle is a very good veteran player who had just came off a Stanley Cup. The type of player you win Cups with. Great influence. Willie was the coach during the end of an epic decline of dry assets, until a youth movement was inevitable, and Benning made a decision to replace him with Green. Green is a great coach for this young team. If anything, Baumgartner may be a bit in over his head. Roussel isn’t that bad and I would hate to see how soft the Canucks would be without him at this point: The Canucks arrogance problems right now. They think they can function as if Tanev, Markstrom and Toffoli were still here, they may be apparently not appreciating that Tanev, Markstrom and Tanev aren’t in the lineup anymore, and they may be a bit reserved against the newcomers. Watch this DEVELOPING team DEVELOP.

In due time. The good thing about Greener, is when he trusts your play, it’s never again a question. That’s the hell Virtanen doesn’t have the capacity to get out of. I think Juolevi is a couple of ridiculously awesome plays that makes the whole bench go woah that was insane. Then he’s in. But man is he something stable.

This season the Canucks have had a tendency to be under siege at almost every end of period. To control play in the offensive zone regardless of the situation, and at the end of a period, and until the last second, is perfectly fine as an observed improvement, at which time, many goals from the opposition is usually scored.

I’m ok with a normal hockey game and a 3-1 loss. I’m much better with that than those massive blowouts. This was a good hockey game. They need to fight a hell of a lot more for what they want. Pettersson, Höglander, Boeser and Hughes had great jump. Demko needs to stop those pucks when they count most. Holtby as well. Defensive collapse is on coaches. Defensive mistakes are on players. Regardless, both current goaltenders should stop at least half of the puck they’ve let in so far. Miller is getting pissed off. Schmidt is still trying to fit his game in there. I think playing these series against Flames will cement in the Canucks’ minds, the fact that Markstrom and Tanev are on that team now. They should be hated by then. And the Nucks should have a pretty good team-bonding reality check. Some great things are about to happen with this team. It involves the young superstars we currently have, who are currently going through adversity together, while forming themselves into responsible career and family men. I appreciate the glory of what we saw this last offseason. Oh was it ever beautiful. But the Canucks are not that far off. Plug a hole here and there defensively, one by one, and all of a sudden the leaks are gone. They can score. They’re fun to watch when they play with confidence. It is much easier to do so when you have the lead. The more Hughes plays, the more he figures out his defensive game. Let him have the 2min+ shifts late in the game. Juolevi looks really good. A lot better than Chatfield. I hope we don’t Chaput ourselves with Chatfield. All in all, a better effort by the Canucks. It is not a Virtanen trade that will change the course of this team. They have to get out of this hole by themselves.
