[PTO] Travis Hamonic with Canucks
Me_ replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
As much as I love my black red n’ yellow ‘94 Canucks, they were a Cinderella team. The 2011 team was drastically better and was built on much stronger assets. -

Absolutely right. Added. Thanks. -
In all honesty I hope Toews is alright.

Ah the jello making years:

I love your love for our ex-Canucks. But I assure you that Tanev and Markstrom do not make Calgary better than Vancouver. Vancouver - best team in Canada and growing Montreal - best team in the east Toronto - will do great out of the gate as usual and then fade away as pressures of cynicism mount... as usual Edmonton - should be slightly improved but they now have a legacy of bottom feeder to surmount yearly. Winnipeg - seems as if they keep slowly getting worse... Calgary - the Flames are not gonna make it Ottawa - perhaps the most changed team so they’re hard to predict

Which 2020-2021 re-aligned division will be the toughest?

Exactly. Arizona 7.2 million people, has always struggled with the Coyotes, had massive problems with keeping ownership and keeping that team there, let alone putting a competitive team together. The League had to take over at some point. They average just under 12,000 fans per game. Other teams: MBL - Arizona Diamondbacks NBA - Phoenix Suns NFL - Arizona Cardinals In Florida there are 21 million people in that State. As uncivilized as it may look, it is no less, civilization. MBL - Miami Marlins, Tampa Bay Rays NBA - Miami Heat, Orlando Magic NFL - Jacksonville Jaguars, Miami Dolphins, Tampa Bay Buccaneers Carolina, 10 million people, is attracting a bit more fans than previous. They went from just under 11,000 to an average of 16,000 fans a year. NBA - Charlotte Hornets NFL - Carolina Panthers NHL - Carolina Hurricanes The Thrashers playing in Atlanta, 6 million people, had to move to Winnipeg due to a severe case of no-onecares. MBL - Atlanta Braves NBA - Atlanta Hawks NFL - Atlanta Falcons If we consider “pro team” cities as having one or more team of the big four of NBA, MBL, NFL and NHL leagues: Oklahoma: 650 thousand people NBA: Oklahoma Thunder New Mexico: 2 million people, no pro team Nebraska: 1.9 million people, no pro team Arkansas: 3 million people, no pro team And also... does Wyoming really exist? -

NHL teams are not civilization-making outposts you just stick in a place and wish the masses in. -

I would trade Pittsburgh and Washington with Florida and Tampa Bay. That alignment doesn’t make sense at all. Absolutely love the rest of the realignment. The Canadian Division is genius as long as there is continued financial responsibility in order to ensure fair competition. Which one is strongest? Hard to define with so much player movement. It’s definitely going to be a beautiful time for the Canucks. I believe they measure to be amongst the best of them. We exchanged a goaltender with a bad knee and a broken player for a Cup winning goaltender and a durable 1D. Bring it on. -
Bringing in Schmidt puts Vancouver in the old Chicago territory of 2 x 2C + 2 x 1Ds. The stuff that wins Cups. Combined with Cup-wining Holtby signing, Vancouver didn’t lose anything either. Toffoli hurts but I’m sure the maturity of Hughes, Pettersson, Horvat, Boeser, Gaudette, Virtanen, Demko, and the continuing leadership from Miller, Pearson, Beagle, Myers, and Edler, will more than compensate for the loss of Toffoli. The Vancouver Canucks will be a very difficult team to handle.

[Speculation] Canucks clearing Cap for Hamonic

Since the Canucks are at $0.00 cap space... I’d say they’re not trying to shed salary to shed salary. I’d say they’re going full Cap and trying to make it work best with what they can do.
