  1. The Canucks need a 1D to pass to the top 6 you want, so that top 6 can score... If you mean replacing those players with 1st rounders, then you'll have 30 goals collectively for the year. The Canucks have the prospects in place already; Shinkaruk, Horvat, Jensen, Lain, Archibald, Corrado, and that does not include Tanev, Kassian and Stanton. At this point, building around the Sedins has been done an the Canucks went to a game 7 Stanley Cup final. Now it is time to build a new core withing the next four years for a smooth transition. No need to blow it up and wait for ten years.
  2. Let's just abstain from the draft altogether then...
  3. That attitude got Luongo kicked out of Vancouver.
  4. I am very well aware yes. I'm not arguing for a 2011 win. I'm arguing for the "respect" the Habs we're calling for. Injured or not, Canucks got bitch slapped by the Bruins. Highly disrespected and did not fight back. The Marchand antics against Daniel was a disgrace to the Canucks. Instead of doing something about it, the Canucks kindly tucked their tails between their legs and went home. I would have liked to see some killer instinct right about there. Fighting for their pride even if a loss was inevitable due to injury. Seeing Daniel getting bitch slapped on National TV was greater injury than the final result.
  5. I disagree. The worst way to lose is not fighting back when the going gets tough; see Canucks game 7, 2011. They gave up. The Habs didn't.
  6. Yep. That's it right there. Vindictive finicky fans.
  7. That's right. How about continuing the Canucks model... since we're talking bout the Canucks... The model worked wonders for almost ten years. Continue the course of design. Of course, that does not translate as; keep everyone and stale it up even further. It means good old Canucks hockey.
  8. Yep. Exactly. Watching the post game interviews, Lucic was MAD. REAL MAD. Iginla on the other hand, did the same old season-ending interview he's so accustomed to doing. Iginla is a good loser. Lucic can't stand losing. Hey if Lucic doesn't fit in Boston anymore, bring him home where he belongs. I don't like good losers. This team needs some Lucic on it.
  9. Because fans have held a grudge since 2011. But fundamentally, because Lucic is not a Canucks.
  10. I don't know what's worse; being a Boston fan watching your team lose a game seven, or being a Canucks fan who quenches his thirst for revenge on the sideline...
  11. He's a player you absolutely hate wherever he is. But when such a player is on your team, the tune of cheers and indifference to dirty antics is instantly played.
  12. Don Cherry should be fired for constantly cheering against Canadian teams. He has a contractual duty to the crown company that hired him to promote Canadian hockey. Tonight, he is dressed in Boston colors. Did it against Vancouver and is now doing it against the Canadiens.
  13. Ready to have defense by committee and a bunch of same caliber 3rd liners but when a potential 1st line power forward comes around, you want only one? I differ from such an opinion. Can't have enough power forwards.
  14. From TSN: http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=451621 "The Vancouver Canucks could be closer to naming a general manager. The team met on Wednesday with Boston Bruins assistant general manager Jim Benning on Wednesday about the vacant role. TSN Hockey Insider Darren Dreger reports that Benning is considered the frontrunner for the job. Dreger also reports that some believe that Canucks president Trevor Linden is waiting until the end of the second round of the playoffs to make an appointment. Benning, a former Canucks defenceman who spent nine seasons in the league with Vancouver and the Toronto Maple Leafs, has been an assistant with the Bruins since 2006. Following his playing career that ended in 1990, he worked as a scout for the Anaheim Ducks and the Buffalo Sabres before a six-year run as the Sabres Director of Amateur Scouting starting in 1998. Benning won the Stanley Cup with the Bruins in 2011. The Canucks parted ways with former general manager Mike Gillis last month."
  15. Exactly. 2011 is over. And if the Canucks are going to build on truculence, no better place than Boston to trade with. Trade with winners. No more Florida deals.
  16. So you don't want to win a Cup? I would certainly take any of Lucic, Marchand, Chara, Iginla, Bergeron, Campbell, Hamilton or Rask. 2011 is over.
  17. Season ticket holders; the people who get the Linden letters... The ones who are attached emotionally to the team in a way you and me cannot comprehend because we're not season ticket holders.
  18. I'd drop Gradin too. Enough of Sweden already. Bring in some real Canadian hearts. The players that would play for the Cup every winter day in back alleys and on ponds. Those are the ones that ultimately win Cups.
  19. Here's to hoping Montreal beats Boston in 4. Not because I like the team. Because Linden's GM would then be available much sooner.
  20. This. Never underestimate the politics behind walls.
  21. By that rationale, Linden listening to the ticket holders, don't hold your breath on a Kesler, Edler, or any other trade because of the lovy dovy affairs those same ticket holders have with current players. Want a full house? Trade a couple of unmovable pieces. I do like that Linden avoided a concrete answer regarding NTCs. At least he's not categorically closed to the idea of discussion between management and NTC holders. Sounds like Linden is leaving the door wide open for a new GM to make those hard decisions. Gotta respect that. Here's to Benning being a hard nose like the Boston team he helped assemble.
  22. No. The team wasn't right for Tortorella or any other coach. The core must change.
  23. That's right. The Canucks were a goaltender team and now that both Schneider and Luongo were traded, they have nothing but two fragile, battered Swedes who have to be selectively managed during every game. Kesler-types, you just throw them out there and they're on the go. Unfortunately, this train has passed and no one noticed. A bunch of broken hearts who need a change of address and quick. Again; it's not that the individuals are bad players. In fact they're pretty damn good. But as a group, they're stale and done.
