  1. How many playoffs did Trotz get his team into? How about his great offensive style? Or is it a total defensive style? He's rumored to go to Toronto anyways to replace Carlyle.
  2. If Kesler were the Captain, the whole team would be depressed.
  3. How do you start cleaning it up? Torts or not? Kesler, Burrows, Garrison, Hansen, the Sedins, Edler, Bieksa; some of the players must be traded for other pieces. Give a fresh start. On the menu: 1D, 1C. That's imperative.
  4. The new GM should be a "boys club" GM who is respected around the league. The game Gillis played backfired on him. He tries to screw other GMs by trying to steal deals. Most hockey deals are fair at the get go. Players involved then write their own fate. Some succeed well with their new team, others fall. But the deal was fair at the time of the deal. Ehrhoff for White is highway robbery right from the get go. The new GM should have respect for himself and his peers, thereby limiting overpayment. However, it is Kane. Fair value is high enough that overpayment for a player who doesn't want to be with the Jets is rather improbable.
  5. Nice professional post. The poster you responded to is 100% right.
  6. Those very same players have been on the decline since the Cup run. Something collectively killed them inside. Great individual players. As a group? Not so much. The best coach in the league would fair as bad as Tortorella has this year. This year was the breaking point of the franchise. Things need to change and if the Canucks are going to unload some vets for youth, no better coach than Torts for the job.
  7. His name is Evander Kane. He's only 22 years old.
  8. I think the poster you're replying to is half right. You can't have enough Lucic, Perry, Backes types on a team as long as they have skill and speed. But that being said, the Canucks have managed to have either Hansen types all over the team and same types of defensemen across the board. I think that may be where the confusion is.
  9. Then say no to Euros for a while. Denmark isn't exactly a hockey heaven.
  10. Ehlers is a great Canadian kid. We'll win the up with him. It's that great Canadian heart.
  11. I left Cantcouver because of all the soccer moms blinding the road to success.
  12. There are also thick blindfolds being worn. Tortorella is the best coach for this team because he's an a$$ kicker and this team needs a great kick in the a$$. Country Club should be over if Linden wants to win. Tortorella: "we changed our ways after te Dallas game" Bieksa: "it got better with time" Kesler: "best coach I ever played for" Hank: "he went to bat for us" It might not be as dark as you may think.
  13. AV has skewed you view. No worries, even though it takes years to see clearly again, you certainly will.

    Draft #6

The owners pay the bills including salaries. Ultimately, they are the ones that make the big decisions and this last strand of decisions is an attempt at doing something about a sinking ship. It doesn't matter if an iceberg hit the haul (2011) or whether the hole is on this or that side (retool/rebuild), or whose fault it is (Gillis, Tortorella, players, bathroom attendant), what matters is, there is a hole in the haul. This hole, after coming so close, is a Stanley Cup. The hell with sentiments, I want silver. We all have preferred choices on all accounts from GM to coach, trades and buyouts, prospects and vets, who stays and who goes. I'll celebrate as awesome to a Cup win regardless of who wins it as a Vancouver Canucks.

    Draft #6

At $2,000,000 per game revenue? I don't think so. Burrows' salary paid in two nights.
  16. Torts believes in four lines. He also believes in depth. If Tortorella has depth, you'll see four lines.
  17. Hey I don't want to watch another year of boring, unsuccessful hockey like the last three years. You really think firing Tortorella and keeping the same players will give better entertainment value? At their best under Tortorella, the Canucks were exciting this year. Injuries decimated this team's success. And yes, shot blocking was a part of injuries. A bit. But if you can't block shots in this league, no way is the team going to be successful. This year, the most passionate person in the organization was Tortorella. That says a lot about this "stale" team. I hope Linden has the balls to make changes.
  18. Didn't Gilman have lunch with Benning? I mean didn't Gilman go on a clandestine mission to the East?
  19. I understood his post perfectly. Calm down, read it again, an realize that, that is good and clear English.
  20. Do you really think if Tortorella was trying to save his job he would have said what he said at his final pres conference? He spoke the truth and that might seal his fate. But he didn't wince words just to save his job. The square peg round hole idea is TSN jibberish. Get your own ideas. Tortorella won't have any success with this current team. You're right. No other coach can fix it either. The Canucks are a broken stale bunch living in the past. But that will change regardless whether Tortorella is the coach or not. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Well the Canucks are broken and they severely need fixing.
