  1. I agree. Let's face it. The Canucks don't have the personnel to compete with the top Divisional teams. Changing the coach won't fix anything. Tortorella's in your face grinding style is exactly how the Pacific Division plays.
  2. On Henrik, when asked a question he tends to hesitate when he doesn't agree. When asked about Tortorella, Henrik didn't hesitate one bit on goin to bat for his coach. I don't think it was a ruse.
  3. No better person than Tortorella for Vancouver. What I like most of him is how he handled the media. Iron fist in a velvet glove. The media fast discovered that their old tactics won't work. Going to bat for his organization, defending the players when they needed to be defended, praised players when they needed praise and most of all, honestly critiquing players when they needed a good kick in the behind and lord knows this team needed it. Next year will be immensely better and I hope Torts is the man behind the bench.
  4. No one in the history of the Canucks ever stood up for their peers and went to bat like Tortorella did maybe except Quinn (Bure) and Burke (Sedins). No one coach has. Keep Torts, trade some stale pieces, bring in youth, and you have a winning formula. A Cup within the next five years is much more decent than one finals appearance every decade. Win win.
  5. Ah the catch22... If Kassian plays with anyone, including Richardson, his consistency will develop perfectly. If he plays with Kesler, like any other player playing with Kesler, his numbers will go down.
  6. Wait... wans't that how AV looked like by the end too? Oh yes it was. Gillis couldn't make a hockey trade to save his own a$$ and burned two great coaches, two elite goalies and countless other players in the process.
  7. Booth, Kesler, Burrows, Bieksa and Edler gone.
  8. Yet Gillis traded according to AV's needs, especially trading them away.
  9. That's what Tortorella called for. I think the message is loud and clear. He'll coach a team to the Stanley Cup if he gets the pieces.
  10. Better than what AV ever spewed behind his gum. I was thoroughly entertained and I felt I knew what was going on with my team when Torts spoke. Unfortunately, people love illusions; that we're good enough. We're old, and not young enough. Henrik on the Cangary dressing room event: "he went to bat for his team"
  11. The Sedins should be fine next year. They've had it rough and if Tortorella is in the fold, you can be sure they'll be better managed next year. Some players are tanks. Others are race horses.
  12. When's the last time the Canucks were so lucky to have an honest coach that calls it how it is... Tortorella is the man for this team. Kesler, Bieksa and the rest of the team needs a serious assessment. Tortorella also praised each individual player as great players, but together they are "stale". If we take hippocratic out of the equation, that's exactly what everyone has been saying for two years. But... fire the coach right?
  13. I guess you would rather have a coach that gives blank generalized, politically correct statements so that your soccer mom feelings aren't stirred?
  14. So is the rest of the Canucks organization, including recent events, while Anaheim, L.A. and San Jose go for the cup.
  15. Already changed his ways after "that Dallas game". A bit more further change like letting the Sedins off with Burrows and just play and adapt his defense to them when they're on the ice. Otherwise, great work, especially with the media and the rookies. No way would a rookie like Kassian stand a chance to develop into a formidable power forward in time. Bernier, Pyatt, Oreskovich and Isbister only wish they had a coach like Torts at the beginning of their career.
  16. According to teammates, all Edler does is sleep. Perhaps he ought to sleep a bit less... Never seen someone with such massive talent yet, seems to do nothing with it. He just seems to float around... That might just be an an illusion since he's so big, but his mistakes reveals the true story on most games. I think he'll be the most difficult person to deal with regarding his NTC.
  17. That's great news! Only in Vancouver can the media make a person a villain for defending his team, his boss and his organization.
  18. At the end of the day, it doesn't matter who the coach is, who the players are, who the management is, fans will demand a sacrifice. That's what small town that grew too fast do. They'll demand a sacrifice. I do wonder how long it will take for fans to demand Linden's blood on a silver plate.
