YES. The Canucks have the money. The Canucks have a youth friendly coach. The Canucks could do wonders with a Sedins trade. However, Gillis could really screw up the entire franchise with this one. How in anyone's right mind does trading two elite goaltenders in Luongo and Schneider, and a top young center in Hodgson while acquiring a bunch of T4Ds but no true 1D any way to build a team is beyond me. This mess is certainly not Tortorella's fault. -

It's no one's fault. The Canucks are the prize property of a corporation. No one fundamentally runs the show. It became a machine in which super talent is either traded or forgotten. The list, is uncomfortably too long. And growing. At some point, someone has to say hey. Don't touch anything anymore. But who says that to who... Tortorella is exactly what this team needed. A no nonsense coach and I strongly believe that those massive blowouts are part of what the Canucks need to get this out of them. Now the Canucks are exposed for what they are; a mediocre team with great goalten... ..oh... ...wait... ...yeah.......... -
I don't think Matthias or Markstrom will be subject to the scrutiny of the fans and media more, or less, than any other Canucks player. It's part of being a part of a Canadian market. Both seem to be very happy to have been traded to the Canucks. Matthias said told his agent he wanted to go to Vancouver as he say himself. On the outside looking in while loads of prospects were coming up. Markstrom gets to be reunited with Lack, knows Edler personally, and with Melanson, will most likely be yet another Schneider/ Lack success. This is a new Era and for a guy who wanted out, the returns are exceptional. And now to Tortorella.

Tortorella again reiterated that not playing Luongo was his decision and his decision alone. I do not believe it for one second. Luongo was not played for the sole reason of not risking injury in case the trade went through. With Florida's new ownership, the deal was being worked on for much longer than a mere three days. That only makes me like Tortorella even more as he'll go to bat for his team any day and fully. Good on Torts for defending his team, GM and organization once again. This is a man who singlehandedly calmed down the local media and continues to do so.

Mike Gillis on a Phoenix golf course? From where I'm from, if you have an important office day, it requires an office, preferably home. On such an important day, Mike Gillis plays golf.

Chance to win the Cup left town with Lu.

I am fast becoming thoroughly disgusted by Gillis. There's a "what have you done for me lately" rule in performance fields such as sports and entertainment. As pieces of the team become more stale and the team loses grounds on its competition, and fast, Gillis steps closer to the exit door. Let's see this trade deadline. Just one trade Gillis; one trade to improve the team and most of all, to show everyone you CAN make what Burke calls a "hockey trade".

Is Luongo sitting out again because he's in play?

The easier way to say this is: he won't make ANY trade of significance. I do wonder however if it is political retribution for that Luongo said in the media regarding Kesler... Luongo: “I said whether he wants to go or stay, he’s not going anywhere. We all know how this script ends.” Perhaps enraging management... just a thought... -

Tell you what... I'd take a second serving of Mike Keenan. A Keenan/ Tortorella team could be pretty damn dangerous. Keenan is the type of GM who would not hesitate in trading ANYONE, for awesome returns. Fot hey who do not agree with this, remember that Keanan traded Linden for Bertuzzi and McCabe as a Canucks GM and traded Luongo for Bertuzzi as a Panthers GM. The Vancouver Canucks have benefited from Linden's value until now thanks to Keanan's involvement. -

You'd be angry too if you had a sit-fat GM as a boss. -

Gillis does make bold moves. Not doing anything is pretty bold. -
I lol no too. I do not miss AV at all. That ship sailed and Tortorella keeps it super entertaining. Notice how the media is now on the Canucks' side; something that wasn't happening at all with AV.

Did I miss something? Something happened?

O yes I did indeed. Kesler has star factor and would fit perfectly in Toronto. Bolland is more of what the Canucks need; a 3C. He knows the West and is a Leaf, which is better than being a Hawk, Stanton forgiven. Bolland, is likely to re-sign with the Canucks. That's what Gillis is good at; signing players. Kadri brings in firepower that is greatly needed up front. With Kesler in the Toronto fold, Kadri would drop down in the depth chart and could greatly benefit as a 2C in Vancouver. H. SEDIN KADRI BOLLAND RICHARDSON HORVAT With the way Booth has been hitting; BOOTH - KADRI - KASSIAN
-
Bolland > Kesler. Kadri to equal lost value.
-
NYR Burrows Edler VAN Callahan Richards
-
TOR Kesler VAN Kadri Bolland Toronto wants Van Riensdyk - Kessel - Kesler. Take it. Star Power. D. SEDIN - H. SEDIN - KASSIAN HIGGINS - KADRI - BOOTH BURROWS - BOLLAND - HANSEN SESTITO - RICHARDSON - DALPE That is one SOLID centerline.
-
D. SEDIN - H. SEDIN - KASSIAN SHINKARUK - HORVAT - KESLER The Canucks are going to be alright indeed. If the Sedins are not scoring anyways, why not have Kassian permanently on their line starting now, so he can better be adapted for the rigors of Sedin payoff hockey. Otherwise, the Sedins get shut down and nothing else works. Burrows? One of the best defensive player the game has to offer. Third line perfect fit. For the sake of this year's success and for the future, I would personally go with: D. SEDIN - H. SEDIN - KASSIAN BOOTH - TRADE - KESLER BURROWS - RICHARDSON - HANSEN SESTITO - DALPE - WHOEVER The Canucks play much better without Edler than with Edler, though by trading Edler, defensive depth is reduced, though the returns on an Edler trade ought to increase offensive scoring right away. But, this spearing stuff would not have gone unnoticed and forgotten if Kassian was on that line.
