Jake gets 10 minutes a game (if he's lucky) with bottom 6ers that are also not scoring if you haven't been paying attention. But people key in on Jake literally every game as if he's the only bottom 6er not scoring. He's not been good, I agree. But he has not been bad either. Boeser has been bad. Brings no physicality, is not better than Jake defensively, and he got his first shot of the series last game. Boeser consistently turns over the puck. Again I am not saying Jake has been good, but he hasn't hurt us either. Boeser has actively being hurting us. And it's worse cause he gets way more ice time as well. Keep turning a blind eye to no show Boeser and pretend like Jake is the problem though.

This team lives and dies on the PP. I been saying all season that's not really a good recipe for success in the playoffs. 5 on 5 this team has largely been dominated. People can blame Virtanen all they want. But every line is getting torched 5 on 5. Honestly, we all kind of saw this coming. The plan was always to get to the playoffs and let the kids get a taste of playoff hockey. We are losing, but this is a learning moment for these kids. They get to see first hand what it takes to win from the defending Champs, and come next season will be better prepared. With that said, series isn't over. Best of 3 now. The team can still steal the series. But they need to be better 5 on 5. St Louis is making adjustments, can our coaching staff make adjustments or will we continue to try the same thing? Don't forget we have coaches that are new to NHL playoffs too.

I bet when he blows out the candles on his cake he doesn't wish for goals. His dedication to the game is clearly lacking.

Horvat’s goal not getting the limelight it deserved...
JeremyCuddles replied to EP40.'s topic in Canucks Talk
Y'all care too much what other people say or talk about. I come to the Canucks forum to get my fill of Canucks talk. I care more about what you guys think than any TV/Radio personality. Except maybe Burkie and Juice. But otherwise, let them circle jerk about Toronto/McJesus. It's more fun going crazy about the Canucks with you guys rather than listening to the media pretend they care about us. -
This other fellow must be Stephen Colbert. Only that man would condone all of us shooting a bear.

They only said we paid too much cause they were going with the "cap dump" narrative when Miller was anything but a true cap dump. For a top 6 center, 26 years old, making 5.25mil over 4 years a 1st and 3rd rounder is chump change. There for sure would have been a market for Miller's services. Look what Coleman got and he only has one more year on his contract.

We have lots of guys to replace those guys from within. And from the guys I listed, only Pearson really needs replacing. Gaudette replaces Sutter. Baer is dead cap, Spooner is a buy out. Benn isn't even playing. Edler is well past his best before date. Pearson is the only guy I'd really like to keep from that list. And if we can't he'll be the hardest to replace from within unless Hoglander comes in and lights the world on fire. I don't see either Petey/Hughes getting more than 8-9mil each unless the idea is to hit em with 8 year deals, and the cap from the guys I listed clearing next season covers that. Especially if you include moving on from Stecher and/or Virtanen after this season. To be safe it'd be great to find a home for Rooster. But if we just keep replacing expiring vets from within we should have zero problem re-signing the important pieces and staying somewhat competitive. We have some really solid pieces on ELCs that'll help us out. Ferland likely goes to LTIR so that's another 3.5mil off the books as well. I think, LTIR has always confused me.

Getting really tired of reiterating this in every "cap problem" thread, but we are absolutely fine with cap even if we do absolutely nothing. Here is a list of players/contracts etc clearing the books next summer when Petey and Hughes are up. [Per Capfriendly] Brandon Sutter (4,375,000) Tanner Pearson (3,750,000) Would be nice to bring him back but if need be we can let him go. Alex Edler (6,000,000) Jordie Benn (2,000,000) Sven Baertschi (2,291,666) Ryan Spooner (1,033,333) Total: 19,449,999 That's not including us potentially letting Toffoli (4,600,000) walk this year. And maybe one of Stecher (2,325,000) or Tanev (4,450,000). Marky shouldn't get much more than 6 per. If he asks for more I'd be okay just letting him go to free agency and letting him see who will give him more. I trust he'll find the market won't be there for him to make more than 6 given the current pandemic and will just end up re-signing hopefully in the 5-5.5mil range. Louis Domingue's (1,150,000) is gone after the playoffs. Leivo's cap (1,500,000) can be let go too. Since it's clear he's not needed. But if the goal is to trade Virtanen I'd be fine bringing Leivo back at the same price, or even better if he gets brought back for less. All in all, unless the lowest they want is 11mil each we should be absolutely fine. Would be nice to try dump Roussel on someone but Ferland and Eriksson will cost more than I'd like to give up to move and, again, with the pandemic not so sure teams are gonna line up to take their dead salary. Beagle I really like to keep in the bottom 6, especially if we let Sutter walk next summer.

He's likely just not mentally invested in the game right now (given his comments recently) and wants to be with his family instead. Which I don't blame him for. Horvat could have done that too and I would have been fine, team wouldn't be fine on the ice. But family first man. It's strange times right now with Covid. Let the man be with his family. Halak is likely the better option right now anyway.
