  1. Tryamkin's rights are worth about as much as a Sekeres trade rumor at this point. I think we should just prepare to lose a goalie. Not sure what goalies will be exposed but I don't see how Seattle can pass on Demko or Marky. Given what else we could expose. Virtanen/Gaudette may get exposed? Even now too much can change to predict what we may be exposing.
  2. Funny you mention stats. Horvat's Corsi for is 1% higher than Jake's, and he was a -15 to Jake's -4. Since you felt the need to try and suggest Jake's +/- stat was relevant. Horvat also has 1 more takeway than giveaways. I am not suggesting Horvat is a bad defensive player based on these stats, like you are trying to do with Jake. But lets look at Jake's regular linemates; Gaudette and Roussel and compare some of their numbers to his own. Both had worse Corsi for than Jake did. Gaudette was also a -7. Which is worse than Jake's. Roussel with an even +/- so that's a plus I guess. Gaudette had 23 takeaways and Roussel 7. Making Virtanen's 37 higher than both of them combined. He also had more hits than both of them combined. Both of his linemates also managed to have more offensive zone starts than he did. His on ice save percentage higher than both of his linemates as well. Just a few stats I picked out that I actually understood. Defensive point shares was very low for all 3, but Jake won that too. His linemates had 0.5 DPS and Jake had 0.8. Small numbers, largely irrelevant I suppose. Horvat had a 0.9 for reference. Listen, I get you dislike the guy. Bordering on hate. It's fine, whatever fuels your soul. But come on. To suggest he is the worst defensive forward on the team is, I dunno how to word this without potentially getting in trouble with a mod. So I'll just say it doesn't sound particularly smart. Is he a shutdown player? No, I'd never suggest such and I don't think anyone should. But he is not the worst defensive forward on the team, he's not even the worst defensive forward on his line. Edit: Out of fairness to Roussel, I will say he played 28 fewer games than Jake. So his 7 takeaways sounds worse than it is. But even so over the same 70 games Jake played that's what,13-15 total takeaways? Lol. I don't think more games would have improved his other underlying stats much if at all. Roussel had almost twice as many giveaways as takeaways btw.
  3. But the under the table agreement he’ll retire next season
  4. I dunno, the time we had Nicklas Jensen, Hunter Shinkaruk, Jordan Subban, Bo Horvat, Cole Cassels was pretty electric. We had the 2nd coming of the west coast express man. And the guy that single handedly shut down Connor McDavid. Doesn't get any better than that.
  5. If you wanna complain about Jake just do it in his thread. Lol.
  6. Just trade him so I can stop coming here to read the overreactions. It’s clear I don’t have the self control to just avoid the thread.
  7. We'll see, I just hope Tanman and Ferland can stay healthy. They add a lot to our more offensive minded kids. Our defense is already suspect enough in the Dzone without potentially losing Tanev and our team toughness is Miller, Virtanen and maybe Roussel. I really liked the Ferland signing. Would be nice to see him really get going.
  8. You wanna trade what would have been a 20 goal scorer to free us from one year of Sutter AND we may need to retain? Sure, lets throw in Woo and Hoglander to get rid of Roussel while we're at it. Since it's so important to keep Toffoli and Tanev I guess.
  9. Yeah, I guess he did. Lets just pretend literally every other season wasn’t injury riddled
  10. At this point he’s just as frail as Tanny I hope he doesn’t hurt himself as well as glass body Tanman.
  11. Ferland clearing Boeser outta the crease and rubbed out Hughes along the board after a whistle. Not sure if I like it or love it. Gearing up for playoffs, gotta be ready for that sort of stuff.
  12. Thing is we don’t want this, but it’s the nature of having NCAA players. They have a lotta pull. They can stay in college then become UFAs. Doing this deal is appealing to them because it’s essentially a 2 year ELC. If we don’t do it we run the risk of them refusing to sign with us at all. As to why this is a thing, I’ll never know. It’s not terrible, he’ll be a RFA after. But it’s definitely not ideal. Oh well. Kid sounds pretty good so I’m just glad to have him signed.
  13. As a guy that was pumping the Marky for Vezina train back in February, I don't see this as a snub necessarily. If our defense was better at playing defense, he'd for sure be in the running. Fact of the matter is this award will always follow the save percentage, GAA, wins stat lines. And sad thing is despite keeping this team alive his numbers don't quite match up to other goalies. Our team defense did our team no favors and made a lot of games harder than they needed to be. A lot of us were saying around December that this team allows way too many damn shots, quality shots too. Marky played unreal and deserves Vezina nods. But the main stats don't reflect just how good he was this season cause he got peppered with shots, peppered with odd man rushes. A lot of goals against weren't his fault. So his main stats suffered. Although I am curious how far behind Vasilevskiy he was. Marky had 2.75 GAA and Vasi had 2.56. But with the save percentages being nearly identical it's clear Marky faced more shots. Guess you could argue Marky over Vasi, but I don't think Marky had a real shot at beating Hellebuyck. Who had to deal with a blueline that was equally as bad as ours but still notched really good numbers. Rask played on the best team in the league, so his numbers are great. Again, just on numbers you can see why Marky isn't being talked about as one of the favourites despite all of us knowing he carried our team. Love it or hate it but this is an award where numbers matter. He had less wins, worse GAA and around the lowest save percentage among Vasi, Hellebuyck and Rask. Edit: Just to clarify my stance, I have him number 4/5 in the league. Which is nothing to sneeze at.
  14. He wasn't as intimidating as people make him sound. There was a reason the meme went around about coaching staff showing him Pronger highlights or whatever. He hits a lot, by virtue of being taller and stronger than everyone. But he never exerted his will on the other team. Other than when he went Bane on Richardson. He isn't really a mean or intimidating player. I admit it'd be nice to have him on the 3rd pair, but it's not something that'll make or break this team.
  15. This legit made me sad when I seen it on the Canucks youtube, watching this edited version made me laugh. Then feel bad that I laughed. He definitely didn't appreciate the rumors or the timing of the rumors. Hopefully the chirps from his teammates about it didn't get to him.
  16. Guy was a 5/6 d-man at best when he was here, and word of mouth is he hasn't progressed at all since he was here. We'll live without him. It would have been nice to sign him, shame that Covid threw so many wrenches at the league. But I don't think there is a top 4 d-man there and we have guys like Juolevi and Rathbone that I think are better and have better upside. Tryamkin is just tall. Like, really tall. People like that and have a hard time looking past that side of Tryamkin. We'll see next year I guess, if we sign him.
  17. If we're trading Boeser for a D prospect that's 2 steps forwards 3 steps back. And we didn't give up an arm and a leg for Toffoli. It was a 5'11 150 pound center that can potentially play top 6 if he overperforms and a 2nd rounder. It's a decent package but overall it'd be a very easy pill to swallow given Madden didn't fit anywhere over Horvat, Petey, Gaudette. And we gonna play a 150 pounder at 4th line center? Not likely. As mentioned our RW depth is massive. So he didn't fit there either. We gave up little to get Toffoli. The return on Podkolzin won't be high either, not high enough to warrant even trading him. And I can't preface this enough, he'll be cheap. We're trading ELC players at a time we need NHL ready players on cheap contracts. It's bass ackwards. Let Tanny and Toffoli walk before trading good young players. These guys can be replaced from within. Woo, Rathbone and Juolevi are in the system as well. So Edler leaving may not be for years given Hughes has taken top pair duties now and Edler can add a year or two to his hockey life with that mileage taken off. Juolevi has potential in my books and Rathbone looks really solid. We'll draft a D or two this draft as well. I am not against trading Boeser, but the return needs to be more than "D prospects" and if it's more than prospects we won't sign Toffoli anyway. Lol. That's ridiculous. Pod I am against trading, and Virtanen won't fetch much so trading him just seems wasteful.
  18. Trading Boeser for anything other than a massive overpayment is idiotic. Hate to use harsh wording but that's the way it is. I love Toffoli, would love to keep him. But not at the expense of Boeser. Unless we get a true number 2 right handed D-man in that 22-25 age range for Boeser a trade is not smart. Teams generally don't trade those guys either. I think it'd be idiotic to trade Podkolzin too. When he comes to the NHL he'll be a 3rd line quality player at the start of his ELC, that's 3 years of a 3rd liner (At worst he'll be a third liner) making bottom 6 cap. And he'll only get better from there. Cheap, quality player that plays hard in all 3 zones and has a competitive edge to him. Sad to say, if cap crunch really hits. Just let Toffoli and possibly Tanev walk. Hughes is a stud, he'll find success no matter who his linemate is, so losing Tanman would suck but is not the end of the world. I dunno why so many people are willing to trade the Virtanens, Podkolzins, and Boesers. The returns on these guys won't be what we need. Boeser won't get us Dumba since they clearly want a stud center. And if we beat them in the play ins they very may draft Lafreniere, making their need for Boeser even less than it already is. And I am not sure I'd swap Boeser for Risto straight up. And I doubt Buffalo would want to add. There are not many right handed top 2 d-men on the market. And the d-men on the market I don't think I'd move for Boeser. And of those RWers you posted, I am pretty sure at least half can swap wings if need be. MacEwen even has some center experience under his belt. So we shouldn't feel forced to make a move cause we have a lot of guys that have playe RW before.
  19. Torts, when they lost Bob and Panarin everyone had them in the Lafreniere sweepstakes. I am a sucker for a guy that coaches a rag tag group to a decent showing. Especially considering they had some goaltending issues/injuries. With that said AV did a great job this season. Either guy can win and I'd be behind it.
  20. Makar probably will win it, but I really think Hughes should win. Which I imagine is not an unpopular opinion here. Lol. But I feel like Colorado without Makar still makes the playoffs. The Canucks without Hughes is drafting top 5 in all likelihood.
  21. People joke, but I appreciate the honesty here. If I’m reading this right. Sounds like he seriously considered staying in school til free agency. Thank you RJ and Higgy.
  22. I think it's cause the way his contract is structured they don't actually save any money on the cap buying him out. Someone smarter than me can clarify.
  23. No, cause we had 3 legit top 6 forwards the year prior to picking up JT. Were you watching?
  24. Only a matter of time before the Nature Boy gets signed and we complete the top 4. WOOOOOO
  25. I feel like Eriksson being in over Virtanen would not be the reason we beat them. Lol. The Canucks with Eriksson instead of Virtanen is a worse team, but is it so much worse they couldn't beat Minnesota? Probably not.
