[SIGNING] Goldobin signs with CSKA Moskow
JeremyCuddles replied to Beefcake's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
I think what they mean by more leash is letting Goldy get away with not playing defense and lack consistency. Same guys that probably crapped on Virtanen for not being consistent. Goldy had insane levels of leash. Especially compared to a guy WE drafted. He wasn’t willing to adapt. His KHL coach doesn’t even want him. -
[Report]Canucks hope to re-sign Markstrom
JeremyCuddles replied to peaches5's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Would be nice to get Marky on a short term deal, doubt it happens. He’s 30 and finally put the pieces together and became a starter. He’d be silly to not try get security. I don’t see a deal shorter than 4 years. Even with the current situation. The real question is price. 5-6mil would be ideal. Before the pandemic I figured Hellebuyck money was fair for his play. -
Hockey is a team game. We talk about talent not being the end all be all. He is a bad person to have around and he only has middling talent. Why keep an okay player around if he’s a bad person and a potential locker room problem? Would you want him in Vancouver? No. Cause his talent doesn’t warrant his attitude. It’s not “PC culture strikes again, blehg”. Also, maybe he’s just not good enough for the NHL and this was an out for his team? He had 11 points in 61 games and brings literally nothing else. If Goldy can’t hang in the NHL why would Leipsic with his garbage attitude belong in the NHL? He was on his way out long before they leaked the idiotic stuff he said. He was averaging 9 minutes a game, on his 3rd team in 2 years.

[Report]Canucks hope to re-sign Markstrom
JeremyCuddles replied to peaches5's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Never would have guessed the team was hoping to re-sign the biggest reason the team is in the playoff race. Such news, much wow. -
2nd and 3rd overall picks going into their primes or a guy that is 30-31 years old. Not a difficult decision for anyone to make. This is why so many people look the other way when people cry racism. I don't doubt he's dealt with racism in his life, but you can't just throw the race card at everyone that disagrees with you. It makes you look petty and it makes people less willing to hear out other minorities when real racism takes place. I am curious what Burkie's thoughts are on these claims. He was apart of the video but he never stated his opinion on it. Nonis worked under Burkie, or am I wrong? I am curious if he feels Nonis would drop Carter based on racism. Or if it really was Nonis prioritizing two top 3 picks going into their primes. Also I doubt Boston traded him based on racism either, since it was clear they were being cheap. Carter himself literally states Boston was giving Jumbo Joe a hard time in negotiations as well. The media I doubt was racist either, but it is Boston so it's possible. But there are numerous times white players are called greedy. Media loves doing it to Russians as well when negotiations drag out.

Move em to Quebec already.

[Report] Chris Tanev, Canucks want new contract
JeremyCuddles replied to peaches5's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
1 or 2 year deal at 4mil per. Bit of a pay cut but given the circumstances it's probably the best we should be willing to do. Losing Tanev would be a massive loss for our already weak blueline defensively. But at the same time the cap isn't going up and we have guys like Hughes and Pettersson gonna command a mint. Virtanen's play warrants north of 3-3.5mil too. Love Tanman but we can't break bank to retain him when younger more important pieces are gonna be up for extensions soon. I don't hate the Myers contract, but I am definitely starting to think it wasn't the best decision. 6mil isn't egregious, but it's not ideal for what he brings either. Obviously management didn't see us potentially acquiring Toffoli when they signed Myers. But that 6mil would have been very useful for retaining Tanev and Toffoli, both of which I'd say are more valuable than Myers. But alas, what's done is done. We just gotta hope the team's playoff status is enticing enough to convince Toffoli and Tanev to sign relatively cheap. -
PLEEEEEEASE tell me this means we don't have to suffer Randorf anymore. We Canucks' fans have suffered enough in our team's history. From awful draft lottery luck, to injury luck, to dealing with Messier's shenanigans, and Keenan's tearing down of the team. Let the Randorf torment end. We been through enough

[Discussion] BLOCKBUSTER!
JeremyCuddles replied to captaincowbasher's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
I love Reino but I am not interested in moving Boeser. And if we do I'd hope we would do him a solid and send him to Minnesota. We don't have very many snipers. Boeser is one of the few. On top of being arguably the classiest guy on the team. I just don't feel right moving the guy. And I do wonder how high they are on Luukonen in net. He's 21, so he's still a few years away from really making a splash but still. He was drafted in the 2nd round like Demko. Them taking Demko for Risto largely depends on how they feel about Luukonen going forward. -
[Report] Canucks to part ways with Judd Bracket
JeremyCuddles replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Canucks Talk
Kinda feel his first 5 years with the team speaks to whether or not he is a prodigy. From 09-13 the team drafted one player worth a damn. That was a player drafted in the top 10. Lol. I like the guy, don't wanna disparage him. But this team's drafting turned around with Benning. Brackett didn't have the voice at the draft table that he apparently wanted, yet the drafting the last 3 years has been the best, so far, that the team has ever seen. Brackett's first year as Director of Amateur Scouting was the Juolevi draft. Then Benning started slowly reworking the scouting department and the drafting got better and better. Makes you wonder if Benning didn't like the info he got, or the info he didn't get, about Tkachuk/Sergachev and started tinkering with the scouting department. Brackett didn't like not having as much say at the table, but gotta admit the results of Benning taking more control has lead to the best drafting in the team's history the last 3 years. So far that is, haven't really seen the fruits of the last 3 drafts labour yet. But so far so good with the first and second rounders. -

[Report] Canucks to part ways with Judd Bracket
JeremyCuddles replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Canucks Talk
I doubt other fanbases even know the names of their GM, let alone head scouts or whatever Brackett was. This feels like fans making a mountain out of a mole hill. Brackett got credit for the good picks but Benning got the blame for the bad ones. We'll see, but something tells me our scouting department will be just fine without Brackett. -
Hardest? Jake’s is pretty hard. But to not say Petey seems wrong. Boeser’s shot is deadly though. Tough call. Hughes has a wicked wrister too. Dang, we got some great shooters on the team. Hoglander comin’ too. Uh oh for the rest of the league when we got gunners like this on the team
-
The coaches in Utica, if I recall correctly, were saying Juolevi was playing in every situation. He wasn't being sheltered. It was to the point I was worried they might be overworking his potentially injury prone body. Not even sure where the "defensive deficiencies" are coming from. Have heard nothing from anyone in that regard. He's not shutdown but he's not a liability either, not to the Jordan Subban level you are using as an example. If not for his injuries last season I for sure think he would have been first call up this season. But I could be wrong.

Sarcasm is cool and all until it bails to the KHL for not getting enough ice time.

Love the redrafts, but Dahlen in one of the redrafts for his draft was considered a first round pick. Hoglander has the dog in him Dahlen never did though. So don’t you go thinking I put them in the same boat.

[Signing] Ducks re-sign Christian Djoos

There’s a meme format that’d work nicely here. Sadly I’m not meme savvy. Shucks. -
[Signing ]. Mikko Lehtonen signs 1yr ELC w/ Leafs
JeremyCuddles replied to SilentSam's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
The odds of him cracking the roster is very, very high. Their defense was booty last year. And they are likely losing Barrie. One of their 3 legit top 4s. -
