72ish games next season. Start November/December. Makes some sense. -

Discussion: If you HAD to move Podkolzin....

I'd want a top pair d-man. Not top 4, top 2. I'd consider Ekblad outta Florida or Parayko outta St Louis. Florida apparently wants to spend less money next season. Ekblad has a pretty high cap hit at 7.5 per. But he has 41 points in 67 games. He is a big body (but he isn't a big hitter), gets in front of a decent amount of pucks, and he can eat minutes. Ekblad and Hughes would be a deadly pairing. Only problem is making the cap work. They'd have to take back Sutter or Eriksson. Lol. Very likely Eriksson since his actually money owed is very little. Parayko seems less likely, but if St Louis re-signs Pietrangelo I don't see how they ice a full team with Faulk, Pietrangelo and Parayko on the RD. -
If we retain Toffoli what reason do we have to retain Leivo? The right side would be Boeser, Toffoli, Jake and hopefully MacEwen. Also Sutter or Gaudette can/likely will play RW next season. I say give Marky 6mil. He's earned it. Toffoli at 5.5mil. Let Leivo walk. It shouldn't be hard to find a home for Sutter. One year left on his deal, solid vet presence. Someone will take him, even if we have to retain 500k-1mil it'll help. Lind is gonna need to start getting looks in the NHL as well, makes Leivo/Sutter even more expendable.

How To Save The Season, ideas?
JeremyCuddles replied to Lazurus's topic in General Hockey Discussion
Yeah, the mortality rate for people over 60 is really where it starts to go up. Hopefully they are okay. -

More concerned with saving people than the season at this point. Italy is getting rocked. -

I think we’re out technically, right. We keep our pick NJ gets it next season. No problem. I’m a firm believer if we didn’t make the playoffs this year or next year something had to have gone wrong. I’m not too worried about it, I definitely think this year went a long way to pushing these kids. It’s a good draft this year anyway. We’ll be okay.

BIG BUCKS LOST OR DOWN cause of nosportvirus...

Spending time with family and friends? They could be infected. F em. -
Career years from like 5-10 guys and we are barely holding onto a wild card spot in arguably one of the weaker divisions. Yet everything is fine. The defensive structure is a mess, the PP is wildly inconsistent, the PK setup is atrocious to the point other team's commentators practically laugh at the space their stars get, the amount of breakaways/oddman breaks is way too high. His game management is so bad he had Roussel and Gaudette on the ice in the final minute of a game with the net empty. Cool, a lot of forwards are having good scoring years. Barzal's scoring numbers went down under Trotz but the team setup he uses leads to winning more than Green's. Looking at the Isles on paper you'd very much take our roster over there's yet they are having a better season in a tougher division.

What does this mean? 30-70% infection rate. Like 30-70% of Canada will become infected? Before what? When? This doesn’t really tell me anything or I’m just too dumb to understand.

I love Motte but I think it's safe to say this scouting crew could have found us a solid 4th liner in the 3rd round, at least. With that said they would not have become useful to us as quickly as Motte has. That is the real benefit to Motte over a 3rd rounder. Not saying I'd rather have a 3rd rounder just that the odds of Benning/Brackett drafting a good player in the 3rd round as good as Motte is not that low in my books. I could be overrating the scouting crew, I just really like their picks overall.

[Signing] Red Wings re-sign Alex Biega
JeremyCuddles replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Keep it going Bulldog. Guy played hard and never once complained. -
Tough loss, a decent enough game. Tort's coached teams play hard. Not very many chances out there. The ones we did have hit the post or was Petey on a breakaway against a tired defense. For those that think coaching isn't a problem they should look at Columbus. Tort's should be a Jack Adams favourite. If you think Green's job shouldn't be on the line you should look what Tort's is doing with a worse Columbus team than ours on paper. On top of that they have injury woes. What they are doing with the roster they have and the injuries they have is pretty amazing and I honestly think part of it is their coaching. Considering our division and the roster we have we should be comfortably in 2nd or 3rd in the division.
