His play is his play, regardless of what team owns his rights. If you think his play warrants a vote, go for it. Lol. I am not voting cause I dunno how each player is playing. And I try not vote cause "Canuck" unless it's something dumb like an All Star Game. So if you were only gonna vote cause he was a Canuck you already know the answer.

Generally players don't like bouncing around, and given the team's situation I think we'd be an enticing team to play for going forward. He gets to stay on the west coast, where he's played his entire NHL career. He gets to play on a up and coming team with great young players. The chances of him walking away are not as you say "quite high" imo. I'll let the team worry about re-signing him. As a fan I am excited to see this play out over the here and now. I trust he'll want to stay and will negotiate as such.

Yeah, still not so sure Toffoli could add what Miller has added for us. But if you told me Miller would be a point per game guy for us I would have told you that you were crazy. I am just hopeful he plays for us the way he has played for LA. He has a 57% corsi playing on LA. That's pretty crazy in my books given how bad they been.
-
I mean. Coleman is having a similar year point wise to Toffoli and has one more year at 1.8mil. But overall I agree we got a far more proven player for much cheaper. I am not saying Toffoli will leave for sure but him being a UFA likely got us a better deal than Tampa paid for Coleman. Even with that said I wouldn't have done more than Foote or our 1st rounder for Coleman. Lol. Not both.

We got a top 6 winger and it didn't cost Hog or Pod or a 1st rounder. How are people not more excited about this? Sure we haven't seen him in action yet but still. With Boeser and Leivo down this is a big win for us. We got a top 6 winger from a divisional rival, and with our injury situation on the RW, and the biggest piece we lost was a 150 pound 3rd rounder? Lol. Without this trade our top 6 RW options are Eriksson, Virtanen and MacEwen. Tell me how you'd rather have Madden who can't do F all for us for like 3 years instead of a top 6 winger that'll help us now.
-
Yeah he was pretty far down the list of RWers and maybe even centers. I didn't even mention MacEwen and Lind both of which I kind of see as being more likely NHLers than Madden. I was pretty excited to see how Madden's development goes but with our depth at center and RW I don't really see him usurping Lind or MacEwen. Let alone Virtanen, Podkolzin and Boeser. So trading him for a sure thing now is a win in my books.

I get where the Madden love is coming from, but lets be real. He is playing behind Petey, Horvat and likely Gaudette. On the RW he'd be behind Boeser, Podkolzin and even Virtanen. Toffoli is a legit top 6 player. Madden is a 3rd liner hopeful, and if he overachieves maybe a top 6er. He is a decent lottery pick but not a sure thing like Toffoli is. That's not even including the fact Toffoli can play for us NOW. With Boeser down and our 1st rounder not in our control it makes sense to trade for a soon to be 28 year old to solidify our top 6. And again, lets be real. We weren't getting a top 6 forward for Eriksson, Rathbone, and a 3rd like some of you post in the proposal section. Gotta give to get and as of right now I like the cost. Assuming at worst he stays status quo in terms of his play. But I think he'll play really well with Bo and Pearson. Or potentially even better if he plays with Petey and Miller while Boeser is out.
-
Re-uniting Toffoli and Pearson. Someone mentioned this before. Pat yourself on the back. Not too bad of a payment. Essentially Madden and a 2nd rounder for a top 6 RWer. Schaller is whatever and the 4th is pretty whatever. Losing Madden kinda stings, but if we can re-sign Toffoli I call this a big win. I can't wait to see our top 6 with Toffoli and a healthy Boeser. Funny thing about the conditional 4th. Is it cause LA doesn't expect a re-sign? Figured they'd hold us over the coals more considering we are divisional rivals. Looking at the Blake Coleman deal I'd say Trader Jim is out here catching dubs. Tampa traded two 1st rounders for Coleman we paid essentially a 3rd rounder, a 2nd rounder and a 4th rounder in 2022 for Toffoli.

I guess this officially puts to bed the price we paid for Miller. Lol. Although I bet people will still find a way to b*tch and moan about that 1st rounder we traded for Miller. Nolan Foote and a 1st rounder for a guy that'll be a UFA at the end of the season. 21 goals in 57 games is nothing to sneeze at though. Tampa desperate to not fail in the playoffs again.

I think Minnesota has come to the conclusion they shouldn’t keep trading high picks for no playoff gain. I also think they really value Fiala, don’t see them moving him.

[Proposal] Gaudette for Ristolainen
JeremyCuddles replied to Kanukfanatic's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
Why are you unsure long term? Our top 2 centers are better than Gaudette will ever be, we also have bottom 6 potential options. And if need be can find a 3rd line center in free agency. Risto is only 25, Gaudette is 23. Our RD depth going forward is very thin. Unless Woo greatly overachieves on his potential. We have depth options that make Leivo expendable. Hell, seems like we been playing better since he got injured. Stecher and Gaudette for Risto is an easy yes for me. Buffalo likely says heck no. -
I mean, Myers only has a NMC for this season. Edler is a UFA next season and I don't think he is even eligible for the draft anyway because of that. We don't need to protect Eriksson so it doesn't matter if they want him or not. Sutters contract expires before the expansion draft. Not even sure why you brought him up. Management is probably gonna try get Marky on a 2 year deal and hope that's enough to deter Seattle and then they'll likely protect Demko. Even if Seattle takes Marky oh well. Demko will have 2 years of NHL experience by the time of the expansion draft. DiPietro will have two full seasons of AHL. We'll be okay. If we trade Marky, Seattle takes someone else. Now we have a hole where we would not have had one if we just let them take Marky. That's assuming they even want a 31 year old goalie potentially on a 1 year deal (if they sign him to the 2 year deal I think they are trying for).

[Proposal] Canadian Blockbuster Hockey Trade
JeremyCuddles replied to FinchBird's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
How do you figure? We get slightly better at the forward position (could even argue we get worse since Kovy is not great defensively and we have no clue if he'll even fit in here same with Domi), and we lose depth on defense. All to slightly upgrade goaltending in the short term (which one could argue isn't even an upgrade with how both goalies are playing)? Goaltending is not a problem and you make it a problem by taking a nearly 11 million dollar goalie for the next 6 and a half years. The problems we do have aren't fixed by adding Domi or Kovalchuk. Upgrading Marky with Price does not make us a Cup contender let alone a Cup winner. Cause like I said goaltending is the furthest thing from a problem for this team and this trade makes us worse more than it does better.
