  1. They know our cap situation and his health. They are asking for picks and/or prospects to take Baer off our hands. Which honestly if we could get rid of him for a 2nd rounder, likely next season so as not to miss both our 1st and 2nd this draft, I'd do it. But anything more than that and I'd rather just try sell Sutter in the offseason. His health question marks aren't as severe and with his play this season would have legit value where we actually get something opposed to having to pay something to move him. If we have to retain a mil to make a Sutter deal work and walk away with a 2nd rounder or B prospect that's a win in my books.
  2. We are doing too good to sell. Sadly. Sutter would be a good option if we weren't playing the best hockey in years. With playoff aspirations it'd reflect poorly on the team to trade a roster player for a pick or prospect. It'd be nice to shed that contract but I really don't see management cutting the team's bottom 6 depth until the offseason at the earliest.
  3. Unless someone offers a top 10-15 pick for Marky or Demko I say just let Seattle take one, assuming they do in fact take one. I haven't looked too in-depth at potential goalies being exposed from other teams. But you have to imagine Demko and Marky would be pretty high on Seattle's list. One has lots of upside and the other looks really good and could be Seattle's Fleury. I can't recall very many instances recently where a goalie got good value in a trade. Outside the Schneider trade. Lehner went for a late-ish first a few years back? Pretty decent value I suppose.
  4. 12mil for a goalie and a middle 6 forward or 10.5mil for one goalie. You do the math and tell me how a 32 year old Price with 6 years left at 10.5mil per is a better option than Marky and 2 more years of Eriksson. Lol.
  5. Not liking how this team has been playing overall. Goaltending is really our only true strength. Take the W and move on but I hope this team polishes up it’s play. Thank you Marky.
  6. A younger, more physical right handed Edler. Right D is a pretty big weakness going forward unless we get really lucky with Woo. Risto would be a solid add for the right price.
  7. Sutter is a 4th liner on this team when healthy. With MacEwen's play last game I'd be curious if Sutter even has a place on this team when Boeser is back. I'd trade Sutter to make room for Motte and MacEwen, but not to a divisional rival. If we do trade him to a divisional rival they better pay more than a 3rd rounder.
  8. Price for 10mil is not worth it. Marky at 6ish mil is just as serviceable as Price with the added benefit of having cap to add forwards/d-men. A more complete roster can be had with Marky. Price has just as good numbers as Marky playing on a far worse team. So I don't believe Marky is a superior goalie, but they are close enough that I'd rather have the cheaper option in Marky. Price at 7mil tops and I'd consider it. Otherwise hard pass.
  9. A lot of slot shots. But people here seem to be saying they were all "muffins" that weren't hard to stop. Almost like they weren't even watching the game or are lying to play it off like the fact we give up nearly 40 shots a game (a lot of which are quality) isn't something to be worried about.
  10. Addison and a 1st is great value for Zucker. Pittsburgh has won a bunch of cups the last 10ish years. Surprised they felt the need to pay so much for Zucker.
  11. Nothing of value going out, easy yes from me on this deal. They'd have to retain half the cap for it to work. I'd be willing to upgrade that 3rd to a 2nd if it convinces them to take Baertschi instead of Schaller. Maybe even upgrade Palmu to Lockwood. We get a good energy vet for the playoffs and free us of Baer's cap next season.
  12. I remember, I got a lot of confused faces cause I said they'd be doing us a favour by taking his nearly 4mil contract off our hands.
  13. PP and penalty kill have been in a steady decline since Nov/December, PK less so. Has stagnated at 15-18 since November. PP numbers were inflated by all those 5/5 PP nights we had against bad teams early. Against good teams we see the PP either do nothing or in some cases give up numerous chances for the other team. I don't think we should fire Green, also not against it, but something needs to change. The playoffs are only gonna have good teams. If we can't score on them with any regularity on the PP we are gonna be in for a short playoff run. PK's passivity has been a major talking point for me all season. The Tampa Bay game is giving me PTSD in that regard. Every announcer mentions how passive our defensive zone coverage is. Something needs to change. And I am thinking we need to get exposed in the playoffs then have a coaching/GM meeting for meaningful change to happen. I don't see Jim firing the coaching staff, especially after extending them in October.
  14. I hate the idea that you don't do anything cause you want to make them pay on the PP. F that. Send a message. Let them know you aren't a punching bag looking to daddy (the refs) to stand up for you. This team is an embarrassment. Listening to people b**** about Jake not hitting pisses me off too, cause it definitely looks like something that was coached out of him and likely others as well. This team has the same mentality it had in 2011, except we actually had a PP that'll punish any team. This PP only looks dangerous against the LA's and the Detroit's. I'd throw away every PP for the next 10 games if a player took matters into his own hands to punch someone's face in when they take liberties with the team. IE Ragdoll someone like Kassian did to Tkachuk.
  15. Honestly I just open up CDC now in hopes of seeing fire Green threads cause they make me laugh. Then I end up in the proposal section for some reason and wish I never opened CDC. Rough game, rough stretch. Not really a surprise to people that knew even when we were winning it wasn't really a full team effort kind of win. This is a good team, but still have some growing to do. Hoping we get into the playoffs, will be the best learning experience for the young guys.
  16. Definitely dropped off the last couple years. If you gotta shut Ferland down for the year I'd have some interest. But it really depends on the ask. They'd of course also likely have to retain. 116 hits in 53 games, that instantly puts him ahead of everyone on our team. By at least a 20 point margin. Although Motter has a higher hit per game ratio, but his hits are pretty weak. Simmonds would give us a legit physical presence in the absence of Ferland. I'd rather see him with Bo and Pearson if the coaching staff is deadset against playing Boeser there. Miller, Virtanen and Simmonds would be our leading hitters playing 3 different lines. Can cause some problems for the other team having to match our talent as well as our physicality.
  17. I am not that high on Gaudette (think he is grossly overrated around here), but I am not for trading him and Stech for a d-man that is only gonna be around for 1 or 2 years. They are cheapish depth options that can be had for multiple years. If we are trading them it better be for someone we see being on this team beyond 3 years. We don't need rentals right now. We are a super young team still.
  18. With the cap space it'll be hard to work out a deal that doesn't involve guys like Jake + a lot or one of our ELC studs (Hughes/Petey). I also can't see them moving Reino unless it's for a stud d-man or something. The ask will be too high. Could try offersheet him for 6-6.3mil per or something, the compensation for that this season was a 1st and a 3rd if I remember correctly, so the same cost that we paid for Miller. Not sure management wants to go back to back drafts without a 1st rounder though. I dunno, it's an intriguing idea though. Would be nice if we had a Sabres fan that could rattle off some ideas for us.
  19. Smart move by Toronto, should have happened a month ago. Lol. Still lack a defensive anchor, but at least they added some toughness and a goalie worth a damn at the NHL level. I am curious about the condition on the second 3rd rounder. Does LA only get it if Toronto makes the playoffs? If so it ain't lookin' too likely. Edit: Does Toronto value their own 3rd rounder this season more than Columbus'? Makes you wonder why Never mind they don't have their own 3rd. Didn't realize they traded everything but the kitchen sink.
  20. New Jersey isn't retaining cap on Subban to take over 15mil in wasted cap from us. And I don't wanna trade a Podkolzin+ for a smaller Podkolzin. I might be way overrating him but I think Pod has potential to be just as good as Domi if not better. And with his added size could bring more defensively and physicality.
  21. I said this like 2 seasons ago. Ovi is the greatest goal scorer of all time. At this point he is just widening the gap between him and every one else. Wayne's stats, he even said himself, don't exist today. All you need is two eyes and one clip of goalies from the 90s and beyond to realize how piss poor defense and goalies were 30 years ago. It's night and day how much the game has improved in terms of team's ability to play defense and goalies evolving at a ridiculous level.
  22. Gonna be real, Gaudette is atrocious at faceoffs. That line needs Sutter/Beagle. Just like how Petey has Miller to take all his draws for him cause Petey is bit of a liability in the dot too. At least he is 44% but whatever. Gaudette was 3/10 against Carolina. If he plays better at center, he needs a true center to take the draws for him. Or move him to the wing. Either way the guy takes too many faceoffs considering how inept he is at them. 300+ faceoffs for Gaudette (39% in the dot) and Petey has like 120+ faceoffs taken. Gaudette's corsi is so low cause they lose the faceoff every time he's on the ice and Roussel, Gaudette, and Jake/Boeser aren't really defensive stalwarts to regain the puck. Ready for the confused faces from those that actually believed he was Kesler 2.0.
  23. He changed the Miller, Petey, Jake line and they were playing great too. I don't get why he is dead set against putting Bo and Boeser together. The best we seen of Boeser was on that line. Yes statistically he's just as good with Petey but he plays better with Bo. It's the oddest thing why we haven't seen that combo since Boeser's rookie season. Boeser's ozone starts is 53%, so it's not like he is atrocious in the defensive zone nor is he being protected.
