  1. Think you are simplifying this or really underestimating Boeser. He is near a PPG guy (and considering how much scrutiny he gets for not doing enough that is very impressive). I love Dumba but lets not boil down Minnie wanting Boeser "only cause he's from there". He is a great young talent and is still getting better and better. This isn't the best Boeser we're gonna see. Dumba is a good player but he isn't a world breaker. I love Dumba but Boeser has chemistry with both of our top 6 centers, has great intangibles and character, is only getting better. Over the course of this season alone he has started throwing the body more. Not a physical specimen but he is starting to use that size to his advantage and made him a credible forechecking threat. The more I talk about Boeser the more I'd rather just keep him. Lol.
  2. If they trade Dumba it's for a top player/prospect. Not a mish mash of sub par players. While I think Boeser for Dumba works value wise, we are looking to add a top 6 player. Not take away a top 6 player. Yes it helps our defense but that's like cutting off your arm to bandage your leg. Depending on Hoglander's value maybe a deal around him could work. Stecher and Hoglander and maybe a 2nd rounder. Throw in someone like Baer/Sutter to even out the cap. But I gotta admit I really like Hoglander's upside. I just don't see this team buying Dumba unless they want to move Boeser. But that just further hurts our top 6. Do you trust Jake and Leivo as your top 2 RW options come playoffs? I am a massive Jake fan but we seen nothing from him as far as playoffs go. And Leivo is a good utility fill in guy. Oddly enough we are still a decent team with him gone. Hard pass on Zucker for me, we are set on LW with Miller and Pearson. And there's really no one else on that Wild roster that I'd be willing to take a shot at other than Dumba.
  3. Regulation win against a divisional opponent, Jake goal, and Marky continues to be a boss between the pipes. Good feels all around.
  4. I believed in him, and he goes and stabs me in the heart like that.
  5. Not sure which take is more idiotic, sorry for the harsh wording. Gaudette is not worth Jokiharju straight up let alone Risto. And the idea that Risto is some trash tier player in his own zone is patently false. Is he Tanev? No. Is he Pouliot? Also no. He has 54% dzone starts. His defensive point shares are actually higher than Edler's and Risto plays on a worse team. Risto would likely be the 3rd best defensive player on our blueline if we traded for him.
  6. Jake's elbow was tucked in, cry more. It sustains me. He does stick the arm out on the follow through. But Jake was lining up a hit, cry baby lost the puck, Jake let up. If anything Virtanen could have done a lot worse if he wanted to.
  7. Hopefully the boys wake up for this one. Last game should have been removed from the mind immediately. Played well overall, bounces didn’t go your way. This is an important game in the standings. Win it anyway you can. Will be good to have Sutter back. Gonna be honest, Hockey Gaud’s play is falling off a bit.
  8. According to Friedman, on Tim and Sid, they were looking to extend him like a week ago. All it took was one bad week for them to decide not only to not extend him but to fire him. And people say we are bad here. Lol. I know people are gonna say "well he was fired for performance reasons twice", but it took all of one week for VG to do a massive 180 on him. And lets be honest, Florida's defense and goaltending was awful while he was there. He was not the problem with that team. Lets not pretend like he was a poor coach in Florida. He is an upgrade on Greener imo. Not saying I'd fire Green at this stage of the season for Gallant, but if the team did go that route I'd be pretty okay with it. If I am Gallant though, I wait until the offseason to get a job unless he is okay with a rebuilding team at which point can join them immediately. And if I am Vancouver I also wait until the offseason to make a coaching change, especially if Gallant is still available and he wants to be here. There are some interesting names floating around, but I don't really wanna mess with the coaching staff outside of them making needed adjustments [Enter defensive zone coverage and excessive drop pass complaints here].
  9. Funny cause I see him back checking very hard a few times last game. And in most games. Does he do it every shift? No, but a lot of the time I see him looking for someone to cover instead of just hauling ass back to stand in no man's lands covering someone a defender is covering. I admit he is doing more flybys. Not sure how much of that is it being coached into him. The only one throwing hits on this team with regularity is Motte, and at his size the hits are largely meaningless. So I do feel it's a coaching thing and not necessarily a Jake thing. It's weird how much more Jake needs to do to be considered engaged. It's like he needs to do everything at a decently high level or he is inconsistent/not doing enough. Defensively he is fine, offensively, considering his ice time, is more than fine, physically he is not doing less than most.
  10. On pace for roughly 20 points, on top of being our best defensive presence, and I would not classify him as "too slow". Does he have super high end speed? No, but he doesn't have cement skates either. A decent skater, great defensively, and his offensive presence has been pretty decent this season. If he can be kept for 4mil or less I'd do it. Unless management is really confident Stecher can replace Tanev's minutes/presence. Rafferty looks like he may have a good chance at the 3rd pairing spot.
  11. Are we still wringing our hands about him in Russian? It's been mentioned a billion times, but a lot players we draft are developed in another league we had no control over. Petey was developed by SHL, Boeser and Hughes by NCAA, Bo by the CHL. He'll be okay in Russia for two years. Hell we had college players that played in college longer than he is expected to be in Russia, nobody talks about not drafting college kids. At worst give him a call and tell him things we'd like him to work on in the offseason. And we don't need to bring him in next season. It'd be nice, but it's not a necessity. Let the kid brew. Our core is super young still. No need to rush him in.
  12. Feel like he works great for a workhorse team. Which was Vegas before they went out and traded for star players. The entire first line replaced the former first line which was the center of their identity. Once that old "us against the world" mentality left they stopped being that dominant. Not sure I blame that on Gallant.
  13. Wow, this is surprising. The only fired coach I’d take over Greener. But I don’t see management firing him and hiring Gallant at this point of the season. Then again I didn’t see Vegas firing their coach either. Lol. Season be wacky.
  14. I dunno man, cross bar outplayed the right goalpost imo. But they all played lights out.
  15. Well, not sure who hexed the Canucks but please stop. Also, Miller. Give your head a shake bud.
  16. He was good last year but it was a contract year. Lol. Sadly as much as I think his time is passed we have literally nothing to replace him with. Unless Juolevi magically becomes that top 4 d-man we believed he can be. But with his health issues that at best is a few years off imo.
  17. I wanna do to Miller what he did to the glass in the first. Lol. That is so frustrating.
  18. Boeser with Bo, was beginning to think the only line swap Greener was gonna make this season was occasionally swapping Boeser and Jake. Lol.
  19. Garrett feels so bad for the Canucks luck he even dropped the S word on Hellebyuck. Lol
  20. Canucks hitting every part of the net but the back of it. One of those nights against one of those teams I guess. Winnipeg just flat out has our number.
  21. Forsberg with the best looking lacrosse goal I seen. He had to pick up a bouncing puck while in motion and not lose it while tucking it in. Oof.
