[GDT] Nucks @ Panthers Jan 9 2020 - 4pm Pacific - SNET
JeremyCuddles replied to xereau's topic in Canucks Talk
Loui is never as good as Jake at his best. And Jake at his worst is on par with Loui. This dumb take that Jake needs consistency is kind of annoying and just some garbage fans and media types regurgitate ad nauseam. On pace for 40+ points, plays sound defensively but STILL needs to do more. Everyone that plays hockey is prone to not bringing their best every night. Jake hasn’t been remotely bad at any point. But needs to be great to get top 6 looks. Players can “do the little things” and is gifted top 6 spots despite never ever looking good at any point. -
Can we trade him for pot is the real question.

[Signing] Hurricanes sign Justin Williams
JeremyCuddles replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
I don't think it matters. And like you said it doesn't overly benefit the team more often than not. He's not a star player. I don't think there is anything wrong with what he and Fisher did. Older players, lots of mileage. Why not sit out half the season and gear up for one last kick in the can? -
[Signing] Flames re-sign Rasmus Andersson
JeremyCuddles replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Well, as of now I'd say he's hardly any better than Stecher. 5 career goals in 135 games played, not exactly a ringing endorsement of his offensive prowess. I guess he's a decent top 4 guy. But with this contract that blueline is gonna lose some depth. Could hurt his play as well. 4.5 for a solid two way top 4 d-man isn't too bad. And with his icetime I'd say he is being played as a top 4. With Hamonic likely on the way out he'll be leaned on more heavily. -
[Discussion/Proposal] Max Domi

They aren't moving Domi for the same reasons they wouldn't move Gallagher. Guy is a beast and all heart. Our chances of getting him died when he left Arizona. -
Did Tampa Provide Tactics To Dismantle Nucks Team D Structure
JeremyCuddles replied to coastal.view's topic in Canucks Talk
The entire team sucked. So it's hard to entirely blame the defensive system. But at the end of the day despite the unusually low energy from the team you have to admit this team all year has been super passive, tight box. Most people just stack up in the box and block/tip shots. It works against bad teams, just like our PP, but against good teams our systems are getting picked apart. People just chalk that up to "well it's a young team". -
You a Detroit fan? Cause wow.

I know when a cheeseburger tastes uncooked and my day job does not involve spatulas, frying pans and food. I know when a movie sucks and my day job does not involve cameras, actors or lighting. With this line of thinking we may as well shut down the forums seeing as it kills pretty much every chance of discussion. Lol.

Playing like does not mean they have the same talent or desire etc. They have a similar game. Come on bruh.

[Discussion] - Value of Michael Dipietro
JeremyCuddles replied to laddie's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
I mean, it makes the most sense to trade from a position of strength to strengthen a position of weakness. If we go by your planning we shouldn't trade at all, because we got depth why trade? We aren't deep in other places, why trade? Lol. Which I think doesn't make sense. Can't improve solely from drafting and free agents. If anything trades are more important than free agents. Unless we find a bunch of Dan Hamhuis' willing to take below market value to sign here. With that said, with the expansion draft looming I'd be hesitant to trade a goalie. Unless we plan on drafting a goalie with our 2nd or 3rd rounder this summer to fill that hole DiPietro would leave. -
I really don’t see how people think we were good in the 1st. Other than one turnover in their zone they were taking it to us literally all period, and all game. At no point did we have any stability. Marky played great in the first, they had 7 quality scoring chances on 9 shots in the first. Eventually a team that good will punish you. And they did. They schooled us beginning to end. Learn from it, and move on.

Tampa announcers are literally roasting the Canucks' defensive zone coverage, been roasting the Canucks all game, for not skating and just standing around. THAT'S BEEN THE DEFENSIVE STRUCTURE ALL YEAR. I am not anti Green, but something has to change. The good teams have been roasting us all year but we beat up on the middling/crappy teams so people think everything is fine. "PoWeRpLaY iS 4tH iN tHe LeAgUe "

Tampa has been all over the team all game, it was only a matter of time before the levee broke. I think this is exactly the type of game the team and fans needed though. We are not as good as the win streak made us seem. Still a young team and I was very happy with the wins. But we are not among the truly elite just yet.
