  1. They aren't close in May, better trade him for Zucker. Not like RFAs aren't going until late August/early September lately. Hell, Nylander didn't sign until literally the last second in December. We got a long Summer in front of us friends. Lets step off the ledge.
  2. They would have to retain for me to even consider it. Guy is pretty much a liability defensively and average at best offensively. Surprisingly blocks a lot of shots and has a decent hit total but watching him play is rough. I mean, maybe he can fit better here. Playing with Gardiner likely wasn't good for him. But I doubt it. 4.5mil for what, 4-5 years? Easy no unless they take Eriksson back. Zaitsev, Marleau and Kapanen for Eriksson and Tanev maybe. LOL
  3. First off, where was it stated the Canucks and Boeser are "far apart" on contract negotiations?
  4. Where was it stated the guys in the locker room had a problem with Subban? Last time I checked he and Price were close enough to have a signature high five.
  5. I am too young to remember the vets like Gino and such. But boy was Rypien ever a beast out on the ice. He always seemed to be fighting the giants and whoopin' them. A real David among Goliaths.
  6. Could also say it was addition by subtraction. Allowing Demko to come up and work with the team and the goalie coach to help his transition next season. "Blowing" a 7th round pick seems very silly to be upset over. The odds of that guy making the NHL is like 0.5% better than if they used that pick to draft me. Lol.
  7. Guy looked much better in Ottawa compared to here. Surprisingly. Ottawa was a much worse team defensively. Guess him and the goalie coach there just seen eye to eye better.
  8. Yeah he screams playoff guy if even half of what is said about him is true. I really can't see him dropping to 10.
  9. "We don't pick on immediacy", confirmed we are drafting Podkolzin Always enjoy those little videos. Get an idea of what they are looking for. Benning sounds like he wants a shooter. So it's safe to say, personally, he may be eyeballing a forward. Which isn't super surprising given the forward crop this year being very good.
  10. It's true, I did name some elite players. But with that said Aho was also drafted outta the second round. He was not considered elite when he was drafted. Same with Tryamkin. Even some less talented at their draft players can develop just about anywhere. It really depends on the player and what they need to work on. I won't discount NA pro experience, I just don't hold it in as high regard as others. We can't discount the leagues Euros and Russians are playing in either.
  11. Zucker annnnnnnnnnnd? Or just Zucker? Are you Minnesota's GM by chance?
  12. How old was Bo in his first year? Lol. I like Gaudette, but people's perception of him doesn't represent his play. A guy that thinks we should take Seider at 10 is questioning my view of the game, how interesting.
  13. And? What was he doing the other 3-4 years of his life. Boeser was a first year pro once and didn't play that bad. But hey, Gaudette is immune to criticism and is god's gift to hockey.
  14. Eberle and if possible Lee. Bam our top 6 problem is solved. Eberle is good in all 3 zones, good for 20 goals, and he performs when it matters. He had 9 points in 8 playoff games. He had a down year point wise and for that reason he could be signed 5 years at 5mil. Which is likely what Dzingel will get and personally I feel he isn't better all around and I think his last two seasons were anomalies. He had 4 goals in 21 games with Columbus and 1 goal in 9 games in the playoffs. If Lee makes it to Free Agency (Which I kinda doubt) he adds toughness, goal scoring pedigree, net presence and leadership. He's good in all 3 zones so even though his numbers don't look world breaking he is always effecting the game one way or another. Stick him with Petey and Boeser and watch him light the lamp 30-40 times like he did with Tavares. And even with his more physically demanding play the guy is always good for 75+ games. He's hit 75+ games in each of the last 5 seasons. One or both of these guys bolsters our top 6 a lot and for relatively cheap. Lee is an interesting case. Not a lot of points but he scores rough 30-40 times a year. 28 this season, 40 the season before that, and 34 the season before that. Scored 20+ in 4 of the last 5 seasons. Eberle has scored 20 plus in 5 of his last 6 seasons, last season was 19 so if you wanna round up it's essentially 6 straight seasons for 20ish goals.
  15. All kids are unknown. Gaudette is a two way center that is bad at faceoffs and gets nearly 60% ozone starts. Likely cause he's not quite trusted defensively. And even with his 60% ozone starts his numbers are garbage. As a soon to be 23 year old that's not even good. If somebody offers you a 1st rounder for a 23 year old (in October) that has 12 points in 61 games you would be a fool not to take it. Maybe a 26-31 pick you say no, but even then I'd very likely take that pick over Gaudette.
  16. Cause he wouldn’t trade a 22 year old that has done nothing in the NHL for a 1st rounder? Gaudette is the most overrated player in the organization.
  17. That was in February, which is why I never brought it up. It has Caufield in the mid 20s. Lol.
  18. People gotta let go of the 6th overall tag to Jake. He's not likely going to reach it. But what he has done is still very good and we shouldn't keep bombarding him with "do more" while others get uber praise for not even doing half of what Jake is doing. Jake is a good 3rd liner for us and he had a decent, albeit shortened, look with Petey. He's not playing bad, not bad enough that we should keep downplaying what he is doing just because it's not production of what we expect from a 6th overall.
  19. Benning was offered Zucker for Boeser straight up? LOL. I guess proposals on CDC aren't that off. If Minnesota's GM thinks Zucker is worth Boeser straight up than I guess Granlund, Tanev and our 2020 1st is indeed worth Hughes/Kakko.
  20. Jake Virtanen (22 years old) 70GP 15 goals 10 assists 25 points -4, 2.4 point shares 45% ozone starts Adam Gaudaette (22 years old) 56GP 5 goals 7 assists 12 points -8, 0.5 point shares 59% ozone starts Funny how we hold Jake to a much higher standard than others, if you adjust Gaudette's numbers for 70 games he still has fewer points than Jake has goals. Gaudette is a two way center not trusted with faceoffs (and when he was he was 40% in the dot) and not trusted with the defensive assignments of Jake. Some how he is doing less offensively with better zone deployment. Jake and Gaudette are the same age too. But no, Gaudette looks good and Jake needs to do more And before you use the draft position argument. Don't. It doesn't matter anymore. Lets be honest Jake will never reach the potential of a 6th overall player. But can we stop acting like the dude isn't doing enough or isn't improving? Considering his deployment and his quality of linemates Jake is doing just fine. Give Jake 60% ozone starts and see where his offense ends up. People talk about Gaudette like he's ripping it up and they talk about Jake like he is a scrub out there.
  21. GMs don't really have this bias that the media and fans do. That's why there are so many "surprise" picks every year. When I read Kotkaniemi's scouting report last year I thought "this man is top 5-10 talent. If he's around at our pick I want him. Fans didn't even have him in the early to mid teens. That's why there are so many media guys that say "I don't think Podkolzin is a top 10 guy, but I could see Chicago taking him". Why? Cause they do their due diligence. And I already mentioned that Petey would have went higher if not for his weight. It wasn't that he was under scouted or European or whatever, it's that he was a stick figure at his draft. Dude was 6'3 160. If he's 170-175 he's top 5. People were saying that AT his draft. I think Bob McKenzie even said a scout would have had Pettersson number one overall if he were 15 pounds heavier.
  22. Seider is projected at 20-25 on most lists I have seen, lists from as late as April, the most recent list is Button's list that he did like a week ago and that has him going 25. Nobody but Canuck fans have Seider at 10. All the mocks I see had Petey going as late as 12. And clearly Benning knew more because dropping below the Vegas pick was too risky for him. So it's not really a Pettersson situation. He only seems off the board cause so many of us wanted Vilardi or Glass. Then we go into the logistics of Petey's weight. There was talk at the draft that if he were 10-15 pounds heavier he'd have likely been a consensus top 5 pick or even 1st overall. Seider is very likely at or near his NHL playing weight and still nearly none of the experts have him in the late teens let alone around 10. I just don't see the Seider/Petey comparison holding much weight. Is he under scouted? Maybe, but to the point where we should take him 10-15 spots ahead of where he is expected to go? I dunno about that. Even if management thinks he's better than anything we could get at 10 they should still trade down to get him instead of drafting him at 10.
  23. Hopefully that means Kakko can potentially drop to us at 10.
