  1. Yeah, you'd "consider" Gaudette? Jokiharju has the same amount of points in 18 fewer games while playing defense as a teenager. I love me some Gaudette but I feel like a RD like Jokiharju is worth more than just Gaudette. Guy is a 40% faceoff guy. Not exactly inspiring numbers for a supposed 22 year old centerman with 60% ozone starts. But hey, maybe I am overrating Jokiharju.
  2. Miller I feel like would be a cap dump, tbh. They might let him go for little to nothing. He was a healthy scratch for game one, but has played every game since then. I dunno.
  3. If they are smart, yes. 4mil per is pretty much high end 3rd liner dollars. If Kapanen's agent is smart he is looking for near 5mil per. Kapanen can easily play 2nd line on a playoff team imo. If Benning could pull of this trade it'd be amazing. We are essentially giving up a bunch of pieces that won't or shouldn't be on this roster next season. If anything we should be giving up the higher pick, not them. We are getting the best player and the best pick.
  4. No, the only player in the league worth 4 1st rounders is McDavid. I'd think about giving up 2 1sts for Tkachuk though. Him with Petey and Boeser would be destructive. Marner is more talented but I am thinking fit and Tkachuk in theory would be cheaper and fit better with our current top 6 imo. We could use a top 6 guy with an edge to him that can also put up points. Love him or hate him Tkachuk is always a factor in the game, scoring or not.
  5. If true I have a message for our dear commander Benning. Stay. Away. From. Your. Phone. July. 1st. Edit: This is either a negotiating tactic for Edler's deal or complete BS on the medias part. Please tell me it's one of those two.
  6. Columbus isn't super big, but they play really big. Their average weight and height is the same as ours. Size is super overrated on this board. It's not about the size of the dog but the size of the fight in the dog. And it's not like Jake is a monster player. He is like an inch taller and 10-15 pounds heavier than Toffoli. Toffoli likely has a very good two way game coming from that LA team. He is playoff proven, having won a cup and all. A 3rd liner that has never hit 30 points is not worth a true to form top 6 player apparently. People have the silliest reasons for it too. "He's too old" "He's not big enough". I am a massive Virtanen fan but I am beginning to wonder if he's in the long term plans as a top 6 player. Why not supplement the players the organization actually believes have top 6 talent with other actual top 6 talent? Especially if the cost is someone the team doesn't 100% believe in as a top 6 player. If Green would play Jake in the top 6 for more than a handful of shifts I am with the "keep Virtanen" camp. But I am doubting the team will ever play him in the top 6 for multiple games in a row.
  7. Understandably leaves out the last 5 drafts but Rantanen was drafted at 10. Jost, Bouchard, Tippett and Ritchie don't exactly make that list look any better though. Lol.
  8. Sutter Hutton and Goldobin is barely a starting point for 2nd round picks let alone a number 1 LWer. A true number 1 LWer.
  9. Unless the UFAs are 18-22 we don't want them. We are a rebuilding team and players over 22 are way too old.
  10. Size is nice, but you gotta move the puck. Gudbranson is big didn’t hell him get pucks outta our zone. Hell I seen him fumble the puck against the Isles and get scored on. Tired of seeing this team suck at moving the puck. A 6 foot d-man isn’t small and he can move the puck. Sign me up.
  11. This is a faulty way of thinking and why I'll never understand you team tankers. It's okay to have some veteran guys on your team. And since when did 27 become too old? Guy has a cup ring under his belt, in his prime still, has chemistry with another top 6 player on our team. Makes no sense to not want to trade a 3rd liner for a top 6 player in his prime. He'll likely be 30/31 when we start making serious playoff runs, which is roughly the same age that Oshie is for Washington. Team's generally win the cup with older players. Not many teams are winning with a team entirely comprised of 20-25 year olds. I dunno, get all the 20 year old players i guess. Worked wonders for Edmonton.
  12. Toffoli is 27. It’d speed up the timeline without hurting our prospect depth. Organization seems like it sees Jake as a 3rd liner at best. They’d probably jump all over moving him for a legit top 6 forward. He had a down year playing on a team that wins all it’s games on defense. Buying low here. Give him young, mobile linemates, he could have a massive resurgence point wise.
  13. Cause you gotta give to get. Granlund, Hutton and a 3rd gets you laughed at.
  14. I agree. I’m all for giving up young assets if we are getting a youngish asset in return.
  15. Value sounds about right. But giving up a pick and a good young 3rd liner that brings something no one else really brings on our roster has me thinking no. If they take Goldy, then I’m much more interested. Lol. Honestly though, not sure we are in a position where giving up young assets for a 32 year old makes sense. Especially if we could potentially throw similar dollars at Stralman in Free Agency at the cost of no assets but cap and a contract spot.
  16. They need elite centers. If they trade the 1st overall the conversation starts with Petey. Nothing will happen.
  17. Debrusk and Connor are fairly close. I mean, obviously Connor is the better guy statistically but even with Debrusk they'd be disgusting if they drafted Barzal and Chabot in place of the other two bums.
  18. Imagine this team if they drafted Barzal, Debrusk, and Chabot. Goodness gracious.
  19. 2014 Jake Virtanen 2015 Jeremy Roy 2016 Tkachuk/Sergachev/Juolevi (I was a bit more indecisive here, I heard rumors Benning wanted Juolevi so I kinda forced myself to lean towards him too.) 2017 Cody Glass 2018 Adam Boqvist
