I have zero clue what math would have to go into finding out how forward numbers translate to defenseman numbers and vice versa. I guess that would depend on the person doing the comparing. Obviously d-men don't get the offensive looks forwards do, so when they do rack up a decent amount of points it's worth noting. Ekblad won the Calder as a teenager and the year he did it had 39 points. That was enough for voters to pick him over 64 point Mark Stone. So it's safe to say at least 40 points for a d-man is better than 60. Lol. If we do some rounding and assume that metric as being acceptable. Only real notable variable is how much did the age difference between Ekblad and Stone effect voters?

Even by that metric Binnington, which I think isn't completely fair being more a developed rookie should work against you against more raw rookies, shouldn't belong in the conversation. He's only got 30 games under his belt this season. That's barely enough games played to warrant a Jennings nod, if he were on a team with the lowest GAA. For me to consider him in the conversation he'd at least need to have played 40-50 games.

As a 'Nucks-Backer, What Burns Your Bacon?
JeremyCuddles replied to Nuxfanabroad's topic in Canucks Talk
I don't think any one game rustles my jimmies enough for me to recall it to this day. Although the utter lack of respect we get from DOPS really lights a fire under my panties manly man underwear. -
2019 NHL Entry Draft in Vancouver, BC

I am an optimist I guess. I love upsetting myself with expectations that Edmonton will stop being terrible long enough for us to draft top 3 -
2019 NHL Entry Draft in Vancouver, BC
JeremyCuddles replied to Qwags's topic in Prospects / Farm Team
They have a game in hand and we have 1 more point. So, I guess I am assuming they'll at least win as many games as we do. If we can win with just Boeser and Petey producing regularly I am hopeful they can at least make something work with McJesus, Draisaitl and Nuge. Lol -
I mean, he's got you though. Lol. People are crying about picks that from a certain point of view we got back. And another point about NHL ready Utica players, a 2nd round pick graduated from Utica just this season, may have heard of him. His name is Thatcher Demko. Gaudette also graduated outta Utica to the NHL this season. Could argue Utica also produced Brisebois and Sautner for us. Yeah, they aren't as crisp/flashy but they weren't really expected to be top end players for us even when drafted/acquired. Players drafted outta College, Russia or Sweden generally do all their developing there and never make it to Utica. So the prospects that do go to Utica are long shot prospects or just not as highly touted prospects. And by extension makes Utica look worse than it really is at developing players. Are we having a massive influx of players graduate from Utica to the NHL? No, but it's not cause Utica is bad at developing it's cause our top prospects aren't developing there. They develop where they were drafted out of and rightfully so. They chose that path for a reason. Whether it be because of school or because the league is closer to home.

2019 NHL Entry Draft in Vancouver, BC
JeremyCuddles replied to Qwags's topic in Prospects / Farm Team
With the standings where they are I don't see them drafting ahead of us. And if they do it'll be in the 8 spot while we are in the 9. Byram won't make it that far. I imagine. Besides, the last time they took a d-man ahead of us was the Bo Horvat draft. I think that worked out nicely for us Albeit they drafted 7 and us 9, but still. Although with their lottery luck they very likely could draft 1-3 and it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest. -
What Guaranteed Draft Position? With Simulators, Current #8
JeremyCuddles replied to TheGuardian_'s topic in Canucks Talk
If we are 8-10 one of Broberg, Soderstrom, or Krebs should be there. Either of those guys would be a really good picks for us. Edmonton has a game on hand on us and we have one more point. So fingers crossed they win out the rest of their games. I don't see Anaheim catching us, they only have 2 games remaining we have 3 and we have like 2 more points. So I could see us finishing in the 8 spot. Which kinda sucks, I see a mock draft (from the mynhldraft website, which was updated on the 29th apparently) with Cozens at 7. For reference they had Turcotte going 6th overall. Too many variables to guess who we "should" take. Since we don't know where we are picking, where other teams are picking, or who they'll pick. So who will be on the board when we pick is too hard to predict right now. I'd like Soderstrom or Krebs personally. Of the guys I suspect will be around when we pick. -
Rumor New Home and Away Jerseys for Canucks
JeremyCuddles replied to Squamfan's topic in Canucks Talk
I might just be old school but that does not look nearly as nice as the black, yellow and red. -
Stay away from middling d-men (borderline top 4) in free agency. Stay away from 30 year old forwards. Look at the history of those players. More often then not they are not that good or regress heavily. We don’t need a Lucic or an Alzner. Make a reasonable pitch to Karlsson. If not. It’s okay to do nothing. We are already bloated in bottom 6ers and 3rd pairing/depth d-men. Don’t see the need to sign 3 more journey men just to do something. More interested in the trade market since that’s usually the only way to bring in quality talent. Nobody gives up anything for free anymore. Free agency is overhyped and teams more often then not get burned on the bigger names.

The team was broken through and through. MayRay got bent in half, Hammer had a freak injury, Rome got tossed for pretty much the whole finals. That's not touching on the rest of the roster that was likely all playing hurt. Honorable mention to arguably the worst reffing I have ever seen in my life. It's easy to blame AV, but I don't think it was as much his fault as everyone claims. People make it seem like Lu was the problem and AV shoulda started Schneider, do you remember how many goals this team scored in the finals? They scored 8 goals in 7 games. Lets not pretend Lu let us down. Two of our three wins against Boston were by shutout. Lol. The other game was a 3-2 OT win. I really don't think Schneider being in net would have changed anything. Maybe the team loses 2-0 instead of 4-0 in game seven. Who knows?

Melnyk, Sens Wound Up Looking Like Geniuses
JeremyCuddles replied to Nuxfanabroad's topic in General Hockey Discussion
If Melnyk let Dorion pay Turris (which if I recall was in the 7-7.5mil range, could be wrong) they'd still have their 1st round pick this summer. Calling him crazy is almost offensive to actual crazy people that likely wouldn't want to be associated with a crack pot like Melnyk. That's not even touching on the fact the guy went off on Karlsson on some stupid s***. I dunno man, this "in defense of" probably not gonna work with Melnyk. Lol. -
2019 NHL Entry Draft in Vancouver, BC
JeremyCuddles replied to Qwags's topic in Prospects / Farm Team
Detroit needs d-men even more than we do. I could see them going after Byram if they are in the 3-5 spot. -
3mil isn't too bad, if he were to retire ideally it'd be now. Retires after next season it's 4.2mil for 2 years. The season after that is a one year cap hit of almost 8.5 mil. Baer, Pearson and Petey will all need new contracts that season. Boeser's next contract could be in the 7-8mil range. Who knows how good Gaudette will be next season. So hopefully he gets a 2-3 year bridge deal this summer. On the defensive side we have nobody, and I mean nobody, with a big cap hit to worry about. So that's nice. Looking at it, we aren't in major danger from the cap recapture if he retires at all. Preferably if he were to retire though, it'd be after this season. 3 seasons managing 3 mil sounds easier than managing 8.5mil for one season in a year that may see us have some actual cap troubles with our young kids getting paid. Markstrom will be an interesting case though too. His play has been really good.

He scored two games ago against Ottawa.

[Signing] Bruins re-sign Zdeno Chara
JeremyCuddles replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Well, hopefully Edler is paying attention anyway, this is what he should command 10 years from now. -
I mean, Jake played for Utica during their Calder Cup run his Draft +1 year. I am assume it'd be the same with Woo here.
