[PGT] Florida Panthers at Vancouver Canucks | Dec. 01, 2022
JeremyCuddles replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Canucks Talk
You really don't realize how important guys like Tanev, Mitchell, Bieksa and Hamhuis are til they're gone. Life without steady d-men is brutal. Hughes is getting bullied, OEL is playing too much, Stillman is a deer in headlights, Myers is meh at best, Bear is meh, Schenn is playing way too much. The really tragic part is our blueline organizational depth is non existent. So help is not coming from within, we have to pay in assets or free up cap and hope for a not overpaid free agent. -

Dude is barely better than me. And I haven't played ice hockey in my life. -
Roberto Luongo to be inducted into Canucks Ring of Honour
JeremyCuddles replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Canucks Talk
Naslund is still my favorite Canuck of all time, the lowest I'd say is he is tied with Hamhuis for all time fav. But I'd still probably give the edge to Nazzy as my fav. Considering he was the guy when I first got into hockey. He was so cool and collected. He was a monster too. I was PISSED when we didn't re-sign him. He shoulda retired a Canuck. I think the issue is people need to crap on Naslund to prop up Luongo's retirement case. Which is beyond unnecessary. Luongo's play for us 100% validates his play without needing to take unnecessary shots at Nazzy. -
OEL and Horvat each had a league worst +/- over a season once upon a time no? At the very least Hovat was a -30 over a full season and OEL was a -28. That was when he was 26. Since Bo's worst season he was like 20 or something super young. All in all, I think people only care about +/- when they can needlessly trash a player they don't like.

Feels wrong, good enough for the HoF but can't get retired number here. Lol. He did his best work in our jersey. I am team retire number. -
[Rumour] Bo Horvat Trade/Contract Talks
JeremyCuddles replied to HOFsedins's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
For sure, like I said Petey is not this team's problem, and faceoffs aren't even the biggest area he needs to work on imo. Defensive depth throughout the lineup is our problem. We need a 3C that can take those defensive deployments. Petey should be at 60% ozone starts regardless of his faceoff abilities. It's just smart to have your best scorer in positions of scoring as often as possible. -
[Rumour] Bo Horvat Trade/Contract Talks
JeremyCuddles replied to HOFsedins's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
I mean, if he were good at faceoffs he'd be taking more. Lol. You don't have your 55% faceoff guy take 10 faceoffs a game. For instance, Horvat has taken over 550 faceoffs this season. Which is about 22/23 faceoffs a game. He wins more faceoffs than Petey takes. I am not of the mindset Petey needs to be Bergeron in the dot to be a 1C. Just putting into perspective that winning faceoffs isn't meaningless. Especially if our 1C could in fact win closer to 45%. It means he can play and be used more liberally. Which is good, we in theory want our 1C out there as often as possible. Going back to the list the other poster put. Barzal has 80% ozone starts. That's what a truly dreadful faceoff stat relegates you too. Jack Hughes, 65% ozone starts. Thompson also 60+% ozone starts. I won't go through all of them. But something tells me a lot of them require 60+% ozone starts to maximize them cause they are bad in the faceoff dot. To Petey's credit though. He's a 45% ozone start guy and has a somewhat positive corsi. The issue isn't with Petey, never was. It's our lack of defensive center depth and a bad blueline. Ideally we also want Petey playing 60+% ozone starts. I just wanted to play devil's advocate cause I like annoying people I guess. -
I honestly never seen the hype with Rathbone. Feels like a Gaudette situation. A college kid that CDC hyped up but literally nothing about Rathbone's game stands out. He's literally the defensive Gaudette. If anything, management disrespected Breezer by keeping Rathbone around so long. Not to mention, where does Rathbone fit even if he reached the expectations? He's a left handed defensive liability that brings no physicality. We have a bunch of them already, even before you include our right handed defensive liabilities. We should have packaged him in the offseason to be completely honest. Now his trade value is non existent.

These jokes are in pour taste. Shame on y'all.

(Proposal) Garland + Prospect for Meier
JeremyCuddles replied to RWJC's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
Doesn't fix any of our problems and weakens our organizational depth on top of it. -
[PGT] Vancouver Canucks at San Jose Sharks | Nov. 27, 2022
JeremyCuddles replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Canucks Talk
The arrow cele isn't exclusive to Vancouver. As meaningful as that goal was, I think it's an overreaction to criticize the guy for being happy about a goal and choosing that celebration. But hey, that's how vanilla we can be. Everyone has to not care and be "professional" at all times.- 590 replies

(Speculation) NSH looking to trade a Dman (Fabbro)
JeremyCuddles replied to RWJC's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
We have Bear. Fabbro is not more than what he is now. He isn't a solution to our top 4 problem either. -
We're so bad trading even Boeser or Garland could have us hard tanking.

Cheering on Vancouver? I knew he didn't want to come here. He wants us to win and not draft him

[Signing] Canucks re-sign J.T. Miller
JeremyCuddles replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
I am a Black Friday noob. What I do now though is I trade my 7th rounder for the opposing team's 6th rounder. Or upgrade any really pick that way. Except 1st and 2nd rounders. They don't do 2nds for my 3rds in these types of nickel and dime deals. Being a GM is so easy. I'd have us competing for a cup in 2 years. 3 max. -
[Signing] Canucks re-sign J.T. Miller
JeremyCuddles replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
I traded Miller in NHL 23, there was no negative morale for trading a guy we just signed. Therefore I think we should move him for the same haul I got. 1st overall pick. Come on guys. It's so easy. -
It's tough, I know we all have a hard on for the draft lottery. But I can't imagine this group of players wants to keep losing. We lose out, then what? Horvat leaves cause he's tired of the mediocrity. Sure we got Bedard. But we are 3 steps forward 2 steps back. Now we suck worse next year cause Bedard now is way worse than Horvat now. And I dunno if Petey has arbitration rights. But what if he only accepts 1 year deals or gets arbitration which are 1 year deals? Then he can force his way out like Tkachuk did. Boeser is a UFA after this contract. If we are choosing to suck this year. We may as well just blow it up cause sucking risks us bleeding quality pieces over the next few years. I am not advocating benching Demko. I am just saying we should be getting to the point of considering it.
-
Honestly, I haven't cooked Demko very much. But tonight was completely winnable and he choked it away. We have the 10th highest scoring team in the league and the 3rd worst GAA in the league. A lot of the times it's high danger shots. But I gotta be honest, I really feel most of the goals against tonight were stoppable and last year's Demko stops them in his sleep. There isn't really a trade to be made that makes your goalie stop pucks. We are at the mercy of him just playing better. If we start running Spencer Martin you risk just obliterating Demko's already shaken confidence. I dunno man. We need Demko to be better, if not maybe we should start running Martin for a few games here.

[Speculation] Canucks exploring Tyler Myers trade
JeremyCuddles replied to brian42's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Saves 1.5mil, same years remaining as Myers. And honestly, Zaitsev can't be much worse than Myers. I refuse to believe it. Lol. But if he is, he is easier to bury than Myers is my guess.
