  1. Maybe stop being mentally weak. I know it's a wild concept. But these are grown men. If you don't like being called out, do better.
  2. That's the kind of positivity we need. This man/woman/non binary (idfk anymore) still believes we can win a lottery. Hot damn. That idea died in me after we dropped from 2 to 5 in back to back drafts. On a serious note, maybe we need OEL to pull a Draymond Green and start swinging. Nothin' gets the team going like some team on team violence. On an actual serious note hopefully this meeting is not about who gets to play as McDavid in NHL 23.
  3. Well, this is what happens when you're hamstrung with cap. And spend what little cap on forwards instead of d-men. BUT, I am an realist optimist until we are mathematically eliminated. Hopefully the addition of Mikhayev will do some good. I don't like the injury excuse. But we got a lot of young guys that don't give a damn about defense. And our PK is actually a joke. Mikhayev can hopefully help out with both. We are scoring goals just fine so we don't need him scoring out the gate, the problem is we aren't defending our leads at all and him playing sound defense is mostly effort. So it's not like he needs a ton of game time to get in the flow of sound defense. We desperately need two way forwards and legit stay at home d-men. Not players like Juulsen, or Burroughs, or Dermott or Stillman or some other plug. No disrespect to them. But all of them are depth guys at best. Which says something about our team when we are actively playing any 3 of them at the same time.
  4. I will be at work, but hopefully these chumps don't choke. Knowing how monkeys paw the Canucks are this might just mean they get slapped wire to wire. BUT, I am hoping the boys rally. I am sad nothing was done with the blueline this past offseason. But I believe in the team. Just gotta power through the early season road trip. I think we have a good enough forward group that we can win some 4-3 high scoring games. And we have a good enough goalie to hopefully steal us a game when needed. Which could very well be this evening.
  5. Probably for the best, Dries has been a ghost all season. Haven't seen him do anything of note.
  6. Our depth is so bad we should probably consider making this a one year deal.
  7. Do you know literally anything about him and his work ethic? Or what he can do? Samuelsson's leadership has been applauded before he was even drafted. He's got character, and he is already playing at a top 4 level. Why bridge a guy you already like and who already plays a meaningful role for you and has strong leadership tendencies? Lol. If Calgary termed Tkachuk instead of the bridge he'd still be there. Lessons are to be learned. If you like what you got and they're legit there's nothing wrong with paying em. 4mil isn't insane for a top 4 d-man either. It's quite cheap actually. This old school "well you gotta take a 2 year deal then you get a long term deal" mindset is pretty dated. If you like what you got, just sign a deal and be done with it. He's a top 2 d-man with great chemistry with their top d-man for them making 4mil. Seems pretty good to me. At worst he's overpaid by about 1mil. But that's very much doubtful.
  8. I should probably preface I have no interest in Chychrun. I was just refuting this other kind feller's initial proposal. People are replying to me as if I want to trade for him when I don't.
  9. I am with you. I was on the Pod bandwagon going into that draft. But we gotta keep in mind their wants as well as our own. Chychrun isn't being given away. Not to disrespect Horvat. But he has little value to a rebuilding team cause he isn't re-signing with a rebuilding team. And they want picks, cause they're the Coyotes.
  10. I been saying this for over a year now. I know it's one game but Petey was 3 for 11 on faceoffs. Those weren't really juggernaut faceoff players he was staring down in Edmonton either. Draisaitl is barely 50% in his career and McDavid is a respectable but not great 46%. Petey is bordering on liability in the dot. Play him on the wing, let Miller babysit him. Keep Bo at 2C. Find a true shutdown 3rd line center. Move some of our excess wingers, preferably keep one of Boeser or Garland. I feel like I am the only one that cares to have a mix of left and right handed players instead of all lefties. Bo is not a true two way guy. He's fine defensively, is great in the dot and has decent offensive drive giving you a solid 60-65 points a season.
  11. Yeah I was being facetious. Even so I doubt they want Bo Horvat and literally no picks. Why would he re-sign there too? We gotta remember that this isn't NHL 23. He's gotta want to be there as well for them to have any interest in trading for him. They get no picks, get an older player and a LD that hasn't shown any real promise at this level. The only people that like Rathbone are his parents and CDC. Guy hasn't looked very good at all. And we are getting the better player. Horrid deal for them on the ice and on paper in trying to retain Bo long term. If they move Chychrun it's for Pod, our 1st and maybe a middle 6 utility vet. Pearson to help even cap. Not Horvat with no extension who is a UFA at seasons end and not some number 8 one way d-man that isn't even THAT good at the one thing he is good at. I dunno man.
  12. Finally, someone with some sense. Samuelsson is legit. Sub 40% ozone starts. At 22 years old is being put in a lot of defensive situations for a poor team. This guy is a top 4 player now. I think he's worth his contract now. Couple years from now they'll be ecstatic to only have him only making 4mil per. This is an extension as well. So it doesn't kick in til next season. I really wanted us to try snag a late 1st rounder that year to grab him. I knew he was for sure an early 2nd rounder. On a side note, funny how they drafted both their top 2 d-men in that draft. Our team is allergic to using any 1st rounders on D-men. Let alone a 1st and 2nd rounder.
  13. Arizona is in a perma rebuild. They wanna rebuild the way CDC wanted to rebuild way back yonder. Only play sub 25 year old players. Only gather picks. Keller is likely next. Guy is almost 25 too. Old man in a rebuild. Which means, there is no way they are touching a fossil like Horvat. Guy is 27. No place in their rebuild.
  14. You named one dude worth a damn, and he's expected to be a bit of a project. Pod being left handed doesn't dispute my point either. Hogs going into the season was talked about as failing to make the roster all together. Not saying I don't think he's NHL caliber, but he isn't filling Boeser or Garland's shoes. And again, is left handed. We have 3 left handed top 6 centers. So our plan for right hand shots is Lekkerimaki who can be 4 years away for all we know and a bunch of bottom 6 hopefuls? I dunno. Maybe I am overhyping having more than 2 right handed players that are actually good.
  15. Forward strategy akin to our defensive one? No good right handed players at all. Sounds like a rather odd setup.
  16. There is a lot of talk and baseless speculation about Bo's character right now, that I think is pretty weird. He has given no indication that he is the type of person some of you are saying he is. And the projection that he is "jealous" of Miller cause he signed first, also a huge stretch. He has never come off as envious. I dunno. This is why I hate when media speculation seeps it's way into discussions like these. Cause now we are trashing his character with nothing to go on except media sensationalism.
  17. Nah, it's time for a full rebuild. Can't believe we lost a game in October. Completely unacceptable. With that said, it is disappointing to choke a 3 goal lead. But I won't lose my mind at least until after Halloween. Too much candy to be nerd raging about game 1 in a 82 game season.
  18. Not even close. Samuelsson plays 20 minutes a game for them. On their top pair. Rathbone hasn't even proven to be a regular yet. They are paying on potential for sure. But over 7 years this'll look like a steal. I really wanted this guy at his draft. He's got potential, proven he can hang in the top 4 already and has chemistry with their best d-man. It's unusual, but the deal is fine imo.
  19. Dries likely isn't better than Klimo, but you would rather have Dries being the spectater and letting Klimo get reps in the A. I figured it was weird when I seen Klimo "made" the opening night roster. Makes sense it was likely a cap move. Dries likely doesn't touch the ice. But is there as insurance if another injury strikes.
  20. I don't really trust these talking heads. Drama sells, it's nothing new. BUT, for the sake of discussion. If it is true. Move him for a 3rd line center, a 1st rounder, and whatever else you can get. We'll run Petey and Miller at center. His bargaining position went into the toilet with Miller re-signing. Especially at the price he did. There are comparable centers signing 10mil+, we got Miller at 8mil. This pushes Bo's value closer to 6mil than 7mil. So if Bo is deadset at 7mil per. Move him. I love him as a player, and I think he's underrated as our leader. But at the end of the day most teams don't run 3 top 6 centers all making 7+mil, definitely not for very long.
  21. I dunno if I'd claim Meloche. He and Schenn would fill the exact same role. But, there is something there I think. Almost 160 hits in 57 games last season. 39 PIMs. So not super reckless it seems. Horrid possession numbers, but it was San Jose. 34% ozone starts. I could see San Jose claiming him. He played almost 17 minutes a game for them. After looking at our opening night roster. I'd probably take him over Burroughs. But they are similar enough it doesn't move the pendulum a ton. Myers and Dermott are seemingly starting the season on the IR. Sooooo, maybe there's precedence to claim him. But this late, I think management is ready to go to battle with the troops we have.
  22. To be fair their weakness is everywhere but in their top 2 center spots. Adding a 24 year old 6'3 215 pound winger that isn't afraid to chuck his body around isn't too bad of a trade. Neither player look like world beaters. Kostin has slightly higher upside. Both have size that teams will keep giving them chances until they are 28-30. But I dunno just how good either player truly is, at the very least Kostin looks NHL caliber now. But not much more than a bottom 6 guy. Samorukov might never be an NHL regular.
