  1. Gonna get cooked for this, but did he really take one for the team? Seems like he knew this was his best chance at cashing in. What are the odds he plays at a 100 point level again. Given he's previous best pace was barely 80. The open market was nearly a year away. He would have to replicate last season to make more than 8m per. The pessimist in me says he didn't wanna gamble on himself, took the most cash now. And good for him. He earned it. But I am not gonna pat him on the back and pretend he did us a solid. Mostly cause 8m was the max I would have been willing to do anyway. If he signed at 7.5m I'd have celebrated him as actually doing us a solid.
  2. Decent player, just can't stay healthy. Like, at all. Miracle this guy is even in the league still. But if he can stay healthy this is a good cheap piece for them.
  3. Now to get this thread to 1200 plus pages. With Miller and Petey locked up for the forseeable future. Where does Bo fit? 3rd line center making 6mil? At some point we gotta take the training wheels off Petey and give him the reigns of a line instead of coasting off Miller. Bo for that much needed top pair RD makes more sense than Boeser. Only issue is captaincy. Maybe that fabled RD will take it. Lol.
  4. They did it, they really did it. I been saying 8mil was the absolute most I'd do. And there ya have it. They snoozed by all the trades, but at least didn't snooze through the rest of his current contract. Keeping him at 8mil is fine by me. Glad it was 7 instead of 8 years too. Small difference but still. The losing players for nothing PTSD can finally pass for now. Lol.
  5. I don't think he's bad. Even at 6mil. I just don't think he fits very well with OEL and Hughes. It's more of a fit issue than a talent issue. For me anyway. I am sure others think Myers is straight garbo. But 6mil isn't too bad for the minutes he eats.
  6. Is he waiver eligible? If so just wait for them to waive him. Or try Poolboy for Lundkvist straight up. Even if he isn't waiver eligible Poolboy for him straight up.
  7. Hopefully we get a traveling future considerations. Since the traveling Jagrs are done.
  8. I remember a few years back I said it'd be interesting to see Virtanen with McJesus. Obviously that scenario is very much unlikely given his career nose diving. But, you're telling me there's a chance. Lol.
  9. Couldn't handle the NA grind. Oh well. Wasted supreme talent. But he's still gonna make a mint playing hockey and will be where he's clearly most confortable.
  10. I know people will cook me for this, but I still believe in this kid. He's only just turning 24 in October, so yes. Still a kid. He's not a known quantity just yet. He probably won't be a big time 3rd line guy. But he can still be a pretty serviceable 4th liner with an edge.
  11. Pretty much every thread about any other topic becomes a Miller spin off thread.
  12. Congrats on 1200 pages friends. I wonder how many pages this would have if we combined all that other threads that turned into Miller trade threads into this one. At least 1300 you have to imagine
  13. This is kind of an incredible deal for Detroit. 1.8m is good value for what he currently brings, but is a bargain if he develops. It also ends when he is 25 going on 26 and still an RFA. So if he does develop, they can long term him until 33-34 instead of 36-37 like most deals, which seems minor but feels pretty significant since 34 seems to be the drop off age for average players. If he doesn't develop they can still short term him or whatever. Either way, it's the perfect deal to not buy any UFA years. It's the perfect dollar for a developing guy. Detroit making good moves, as per usual.
  14. People are meme-ing. But 1.5m for 52 points last season, and he did that on 48% ozone starts. 43 points in 56 games the year before. That's a bargain even if he only hits 35-40 points.
  15. If the Islanders situation is anything to go off, maybe the sticking point is not being able to negotiate with Miller's side. Which sounds like our management isn't willing to let teams do. So our ask is high, but potential trade partners aren't willing to pay it without talking to Miller first cause it might end in a rental. Long story short, I doubt retaining is the issue.
  16. I knew Monahan was kinda bunk, but didn't think he'd fallen so far as to become a cap dump. Lol. Could be a real coup for Montreal. Dach and Monahan for cheap.
  17. How's the second coming of Edler coming along? This was the kid people were saying is Edler 2.0 right? Jokes aside, I hope he's doing well. Not too many big bodies in the system.
  18. This thread might have the weirdest debate I ever seen. Some very weird hills that people are prepared to die on. Dog days of summer or just a perfect storm for weirdos to debate one of the dumbest debates I ever seen? Find out next time on Dragon Ball Z!
  19. I feel like we routinely overreact to WJC and stuff. Although I was one such feller at one point. But that had more to do with certain players usage rather than their play. We seen Canucks light it up and do nothing in their careers, and we seen Canucks look pedestrian or worse and become great. All that really matters is that they play and put in effort when they do see the ice. All about the reps.
  20. Yes, almost like he had a down year due to an immense personal weight on his shoulders. We ever gonna stop roasting the poor kid for one down season?
  21. LD, sounds like someone we should be interested in. Sooner we move Poolboy and Myers the sooner we can add more LDs. I wonder what Pouliot is up to.
