  1. Kakko and Schneider outta NY and I am happy. Or McMichael and Lapierre outta Washington and I am happy. Or Hughes and Hughes outta NJ and I am happy We been sidelined a long time from hockey. But the offseason has barely started. I think we're still chillin' for now. I understand the restlessness though. Cause for like 8 years we watched management sit on their hands until a player's value either disappears or they walk for nothing. So a lot of us are worried we get nothing done here and we fumble the bag. Miller for 6 years at 7.5mil tops. Or trade him for a couple quality prospects. Until either is done I think a lot of us are gonna be restless. And I don't blame people for feeling that way.
  2. You realize our core pieces are still quite young right? The only one that has likely topped out is Horvat. Petey is 23 going on 24. Boeser is 25. Hoglander 22, Podkolzin 21. Demko 27 in December, just hit his prime. Quinn is turning 23 in October. If we had Boudreau all of last season, we make the playoffs. Lets step off the ledge, and breath. Free agency hasn't started. Things can still change.
  3. Lou is a sneaky old snake. My initial reaction has definitely tempered as time goes on. Would not surprise me if he tried some shenanigans and management said no thank you.
  4. Does kinda remind me of the Tavares deal. He floated it out there he offered 10mil and Tavares ended up with 11mil in Toronto. Killing Toronto's cap further.
  5. I think that's the point. But I must admit we really dunno what killed this trade. Some unverified guy's "educated guess" is worth about as much as my best guess.
  6. I am guessing refusing to let teams talk to Miller's agent would also give this impression. Not many teams are gonna work out a trade with no contact with Miller's camp. Especially if our team's asking price in a trade is as high as the media claims. Nobody is gonna give us the package we want if we're not gonna let them talk to Miller's agent. Which means the best offers we're gonna get are rental packages.
  7. Why wouldn't the Canucks give them permission? If the Isles work out an extension with Miller that means a bigger return. Right?
  8. I believe this is what the kids call "copium." Cope-ium.
  9. I like Brannstrom, but we don't need undersized scoring lefties. We need stay at home righties.
  10. More likely to be a Garland replacement.
  11. Project player. 5'11, 165 pounds, okay at best skater. I am excited for him as a prospect. But I do think he'll be 3-4 years of development at least. We are chillin' though. No need to rush the kid. Plus, he's a Swede. They've been good to us.
  12. Great trade for Montreal. I kinda wanted Dach. Better fit for him in Montreal though. They need the center depth and they needed size.
  13. Dude, they could just give us a defensive prospect and I'd be of this mindset. If they give us a 1st rounder too? We take it and run. I guess the main question is whether or not Myers would waive for Ottawa. I highly doubt he'd waive for Ottawa, but there's still hope.
  14. We say this about a lot of bad faceoff players. McCann and Gaudette come to mind. Petey's has improved, but I also think having Miller take the majority of the faceoffs the last couple seasons helps. I dunno. I'd still be intrigued. But like I said, we'd need to get a 1st rounder back for Miller before I'd pull the trigger on Dach.
  15. Looking at Dach's faceoff percentage, I dunno. He's absolutely awful. Lol. I might be souring on him already.
  16. Miller to the caps for Lapierre, McMichael and the 20th overall. Our 15th for Dach.
  17. The rumored Caps deal is something I'd take tbh. McMichael, Hendrix Lapierre and their 1st? Sign me up.
  18. I wonder if the Debrincat trade has removed this from the table. But our 15th overall for Dach would be something I'd be immensely interested in. 6'4 center, two way upside. Only 3 years removed from being the 3rd overall pick. I heard injuries set him back. So it'd definitely be a risk. But I am a gambling man.
  19. I gotta admit, I was one of the few that said we could live without Tanev. Boy was I ever wrong, that crow does not taste good. But yeah, I think with OEL and Hughes on the left side we need cheap-ish shutdown righties instead of overpaid offensive righties like a Klingberg.
  20. UFA with a decently big name who became a UFA at the worst time, 30 year old UFAs are scary. He's gonna be after 6 years at a minimum. 7 most likely. Will probably get 7+ too. I'd maybe do 5 years at 7mil. But even then, probably not. Our 7mil d-men are on the left side. We need Chris Tanev and Josh Manson types on the right side. 4-5mil a pop to hold down the fort defensively.
  21. Good deal for Columbus. 11 goals in 52 games, averaged 17 minutes. Still just 21 years of age, soon-to-be 22. I still believe in his potential. Will be interesting to see how he develops in Columbus.
  22. Fair. The block buster trades featuring younger players aren't always bad, which is the other half of "usually." Lol. Again, this boils down to youngsters being hard to gauge talent and development wise. Which makes BPA such a guessing game. Also, you still gotta question why a team gave up a young player even if it was for a good established player. Teams aren't looking to do you any favors and will gladly move a broken or problem prospect if it got them an established great player in return. IE Krebs being packaged for Eichel. He has injury history, they said good luck.
  23. Ya love to see it. Has some experience in the game. Hope for the best for him. Breaking down barriers is always nice and can only grow the game.
  24. I mean, BPA isn't always a tried and true measuring stick. These are 17 and 18 year old kids. Their development can change at the drop of a hat. And most of the players are close together in talent. It's not like the team ever really goes off the board to grab someone way above their scouted spot. People act like the draft is EA where you can see all their stats and potential. Everyone has a different idea of who the "best player available" at that spot is and sometimes the difference is minor you gamble on positional need. Besides you can't just draft 15 centers and move 10 of them for other positions. Again, this isn't EA where players make 30 trades in the offseasons to fill out the roster. Most teams draft their "BPA" and don't move em unless they really show they aren't worth a damn. If I have learned anything over the years is teams don't usually trade young players unless something is wrong with them. If you grab someone's garbage on the way to the dump, you're pretty likely to find garbage. How many of the young guys did Benning trade picks for and how many of them were actually worth while?
