  1. Maybe management put a hard deadline on tomorrow so they can start working out trade proposals before the draft/free agency. Or maybe media is just kicking the can down the road. Not dissimilar to Andrei Kuzmenko being "2 weeks" away from a decision for like a month and a half. We'll know tomorrow I suppose. Lol
  2. He's a slight upgrade on Pearson at best and he wants almost 2mil more. Can we please put it to rest on us getting him? Even Toronto doesn't want him and they love overpaying people.
  3. Brad Hunt and Nic Petan are going to "test free agency?" I imagine it'll be a short test. Isn't this wording we use for people we wanna bring back but they wanna see what they can get in free agency? I guess maybe we have interest in an AHL contract for em and for whatever reason they believe they have NHL pedigree. Either way, good luck to them.
  4. I was here, as a matter of fact I got flamed for torching the kid.
  5. 26 in October, someone will probably take a flier on him. Definitely won't be us. He has been absolutely doo-doo in the faceoff dot. Defensively he's a traffic cone. And physically he gets pushed around by girl scouts. Who are not to be trifled with, just pay for the cookies. Not gonna lie, he seems like a flake. He could be a reliable 3rd line guy if he was a bit more dedicated to the game and had a better head on his shoulders. Not going for an "I told you so" but something about him always felt off to me.
  6. So you apparently wanna replace Boeser with wingers of our own right? Which wingers are those, that also fill your size and grit parameters? WIll Lockwood? 5'11, 172. Grit, sure but size? Yeah, no. Podkolzin? Same height, 12 pounds lighter. He's a gamer and I guess you could argue somewhat gritty. But we don't even really know what we have with him. Also he can play either wing so Boeser isn't standing in Podkolzin's way. Who are we replacing Boeser's 20 goals with again? Since it's so easy to do. This guy has developed his game every year since he's joined us. He can pot 20, he's not afraid to forecheck, and he is solid at creating turnovers. Guy has a "down year" and potted 23 goals. It's unreal that we poo-poo this guy for a down year in WHICH HE SCORED 23 FREAKIN' GOALS. There are players that play the top of their game and can't pot 20+ goals. Besides, you don't cap dump 20+ goal scorers that are just entering their prime for a crease clearing d-man. They aren't exactly super expensive. We should look to move guys like Pearson, Dickinson and Myers well before we just let guys like Boeser walk. Guy is one of the classiest dudes this franchise has ever seen, has very evident chemistry with our Swede prodigy, and has a shot you can't just "replace" like it's nothing. I swear every time I see these Boeser threads I see posts that make me feel like I am on crazy glue. Boeser when he's on his game is a deadly and we are better with him than without. And for arguments sake I guess I should mention Kuzmenko. But you don't trade a 20 goal scorer adn replace him with an unknown Russian player. Who is a year older than Brock and is probably half the player. I am excited for the guy but that's terrible player management to expect an unknown entity to simply replace what our known quantity can do. He's also smaller and not grittier so again that doesn't fix the issue you think we have in the size and grit department.
  7. Never said you don't watch, but it does seem like you're missing what Boeser can actually do away from the puck. He doesn't "need" Miller to be effective like you suggest. Arguably the best Boeser we seen so far was his rookie season without Miller. He's not a superstar play driver, but Boeser isn't a passenger that needs to be carried either. He is not a negative defensively and he can grind in the corners and he's borderline an automatic 20 goal scorer with 30 goal upside. Boeser is a very good player that gets more heat than he deserves.
  8. This comes off like you've never watched Boeser play. Dude has no issues getting into scrums for loose pucks. I can actually remember numerous times his forecheck caused a turnover that lead to a goal for. I truly think he could have had at least 5 more assists at a minimum from his forechecks leading to a goal for. People really act like Boeser is some scrub perimiter player that won't grind in the corners. The only knock I give Boeser haters is Boeser isn't fast. But the idea he won't muck it up in the corners for pucks or won't forecheck is not true. I have seen him battle for pucks lots of times. He does it way more often than Petey does too FYI, but we never say anything bad about Petey here.
  9. Kind of a mismash package. McDonagh should fit in well with Nashville. Tampa gets cap relief.
  10. They made a best of JT Miller video on the youtube page. Pretty much the same thing.
  11. I'd love to click that tweet and see the replies about how she got a shoutout for the woke mob to clap about. Cute blonde talks other cute blonde into better deal. But really, it's nice to see her making moves for us already. Twitter has been routinely negative about a lot of moves we've made but I do like that our front office is big and people can play the roles tailored to their strengths. Instead of it being the scouting department and Benning and his Robin. Lol.
  12. Still have quite the logjam on the left side. But there's no reason Rathbone can't be an extra d-man and play situationally or when an injury inevitably hits. Or maybe the team runs a leftie on the right side. Which I personally don't like but ya gotta do what ya gotta do. Either way. Solid sighnings all around. Still excited for Lockwood.
  13. Gauthier will be the center piece of a Lafreniere + 2nd round pick package for Miller. I like where your head is at
  14. I know people wanna torch Benning, but I truly think Boeser is a class guy and would not have held Benning to the fire over that QO. But regardless, I think we should really stop being that petty ex and move on from the past. Good on management for getting this deal done. And I love Boeser, I truly think this board can be overly harsh on him. 30 goal guy argument aside, he's easily good for 20 goals a season, 55-60+ points. You can't just replace that kind of production as well as manufacture the chemistry he has with our core players. Happy to have him back, I wanna see him retire here.
  15. Faster is fair. But I dunno. Feels like a slight upgrade move. Unless his defensive skills is legitmately superior over Pearson, which seems unlikely cause he's solid defensively. Mikheyev is gonna cost seemingly 1mil more. At a minimum. It is true though that Rutherford seemingly doesn't like Pearson.
  16. I can't be the only one thinking he's just potentially a more expensive Pearson. Lol. Albeit slightly younger.
  17. I think people are missing the point. Can't have a Poolparty without the Poolman. Simple maffs.
  18. Turning a 3rd rounder into a 2nd rounder would be a huge boon. I like the kid, but I think he's been passed in the depth chart. May as well recoup a pick. Even if we just got a 3rd rounder for him it's better than just wasting him as an asset which would in turn mean ruining his development. Like I said he's been passed on the depth chart but that doesn't mean he still doesn't have potential. Would like a pick or a young-ish D-man for him and see DiPietro get a chance to reach his potential.
  19. They have 2 teams from the East "seriously interested" and we have proposals throwing em junk. Classic. If they trade within division it'll be for more than what an Eastern team is offering. Not for our junk.
  20. Next couple years are gonna be big for the kid. Still just 23 years of age. But as someone that turned 30 recently the 20s can pass you by real quick if you're not careful. He's gotta start making noise pretty quick here.
  21. Boo-urns. I imagine they changed that after we got a 2nd rounder for Torts. Can't have sh*t in Detroit Vancouver.
  22. Bringing in experience as well as promoting within. I really do believe Ryan Johnson has a future as a GM in this league, so it's nice to see him moving up the ranks. Dale Tallon is a very interesting name. Senior advisor and a Scout. Pretty good role for him. Can't imagine it'll be long term but having him around will help us develop the younger folks like the Sedins and aforementioned Ryan Johnson. Brad Shaw coming back will be a huge boon too if possible. If he does go somewhere else do we get compensation? Or is he not under contract? Either way, I like the moves in the front office. New management team getting stuff done. I was a Benning defender for a long while but it definitely felt like he was flying by the seat of his pants when not doing stuff with the draft.
  23. Surprised they are keeping him. Seems like they are slowly moving out all the guys that got em to the finals in their first season. Lol.
