  1. Lets not pretend the tiebreaker doesn't go to the safe vets.
  2. Another sub 6 foot player, was starting to get worried after we signed Cole and Soucy that we forgot our undersized forward roots. Not that Blueger is particularly big himself. Another left handed forward too. Cause right handed players are a blight on society and who needs em. With Pearson supposedly coming back. Gonna be really hard for Hogs and Podz to really find a footing on the roster. Kuz - Petey - Mik Beau - Miller - Boeser Blueger - Suter - Garland Joshua - Aman - ? That leaves Studnicka, Hoglander, PDG, Podkolzin and Pearson. And Dries I guess. But meh. Does Blueger go to 4C and move Aman out?
  3. Canes gonna run 4 D pair and 3 forward lines with one extra forward body on the bench. Interesting strategy Cotton.
  4. He had nearly 70% dzone starts for Nashville and wasn't getting lit. I don't really give a sh*t about these war charts you love spamming everywhere.
  5. Vegas ran like 4 goalies or something crazy. I am guessing we're gonna maybe lean more towards a defensive style. And we added Soucy and Cole. I don't think it's crazy to run Martin. And not many teams only run 2 goalies. Injuries are pretty common for the position. So it's almost certain that Silovs and Martin will see NHL time this season.
  6. If our defence is as improved as management hopes, Martin should be fine for 15ish starts. Preferably more to keep Demko healthy, but I think we're gonna be leaning on him heavily to make the playoffs.
  7. Looks like a decent depth piece. But can he become an everyday NHLer? Honestly, other than his puck possession numbers he was pretty decent last season. I haven't gotten a chance to watch him regularly though, so maybe the eye test is worse than his decent stats. New Jersey now has two Footes. So that at the very least is entertaining.
  8. When you sign a 5 year 30mil dollar deal you shouldn't be a detriment to the team without the perfect partner. At least, imo. That's a Soucy level of player. He can play top 4 but needs a really good player for it. But at least it wasn't a super long contract. Just feels long cause we been so bad for so long.
  9. My favourite thing about you is it's never the player's fault when they sign a big contract and suck. Lol. We still had Tanev when we signed him. We weren't asking Myers to be Chara or Doughty, we just needed a complimentary top 4 right hand D. Not a complete defensive liability that doesn't produce offence either.
  10. Would not surprise me if he hated Vancouver. Purely from a health standpoint. Dude was a literal iron man, then he comes to Vancouver and he can't stay healthy, gets covid likely from the team (don't want to point fingers), has long term health issues from it. Just brutal luck the moment he gets here.
  11. Just probably? That would give us two chances at Celebrini, with 1 if not 2 more lottery chances in the following years. That's before you include all the rest of it. I want Hughes to be captain, but even I would take that deal and run. Lol. Cause it would also likely mean a haul for Petey too. And we can probably move Demko as well for more assets.
  12. Dumba took the only contract offered, and Arizona still had to overpay. That's pretty hilarious.
  13. So who did we take with the 4th rounder we got with Hronek?
  14. Watching Pearson answer the same question about his health like 5 times was really rough. I really wish someone just chimed in and shut it down. I would not be able to sit there and listen to the media badger my guy like that. Canadian media is far and away the worst the league has to offer. It's partially why I don't want to give Petey the C. I think with his personality he's better off not being forced to deal with the media. Miller or Hughes being better spoken would fit that role better.
  15. That's fine, players are allowed to have preferences. Cheapshot artist doesn't want a spotlight on his antics. Just makes sense.
  16. Another highly touted Fin that never really hit his potential. 2016-2018 was looking like a Finnish revolution. Obviously still young, but I'd be surprised if he becomes a top 6 guy.
  17. For Kuzmenko to maintain 35+ goals, he'd also have to maintain a 27% shooting percentage. For reference, Pettersson who also had 39 goals last season had a 15% shooting percentage. Kuzmenko imo has the most potential for an extreme goal drop off. All of the top scorers hover around 18% shooting percentage. Kuzy I can see being a 20-25 goal guy. Instead of 35-40. Unless he vastly increases his shot totals or somehow maintains EA levels of shooting accuracy.
  18. If you're worried about Green damaging New Jersey, you should be more worried about Tocchet damaging our team. They're similar coaches. Tocchet himself said so and even said they talk shop often. Besides, Green is an associate coach, can't imagine he'll hurt that team much if at all. And if you believe he can, like I said you should be more worried about Tocchet who is our head coach. I am not worried. They'll be fine.
  19. I think they're still incredibly strong. Losing Graves isn't huge. Neither was Severson who was on their 3rd pair anyway. Replacing Graves with Hughes is more of an upgrade than a loss. No shot at Graves, but they need more offence from the backend. Hughes can provide that. Especially if his D partner is Marino, a fantastic defensive guy. A full year of Timo Meier and Luke Hughes, yeah I think they're slightly better. Severson and Graves losses are pretty negligible imo. Siegenthaler/Hamilton Hughes/Marino Bahl/Smith Pretty good if not great blueline, Marino, Luke Hughes and Siegenthaler are all 26 and under still too. Not to mention 2nd overall pick, 19 year old Simon Nemec. He can crack this roster and now you have Bahl/Nemec on your 3rd pair. Their main forwards Timo Meier, Jack Hughes, Nico Hischier, Dawson Mercer and Jesper Bratt are all 26 and under still. 27 year old goalie. They're gonna be legit for a while in my books.
  20. The last point is pretty key. Even if guys like Hirose and McWard don't start in the NHL, that doesn't mean they won't see any action. I don't have any first hand stats, but I feel like we go through more d-men on average. But I really don't think these kids are quite ready outside of maybe Woo who has played 3 AHL seasons and coming off his first full AHL season where he played very well. Let McWard and Hirose develop at least one season. By this time next year Cole and Myers will be gone and they'll be 1 year better. Instead of getting baptized in fire.
  21. When talking about millions of dollars, of course there are work arounds. Not to mention Canada and the US live cutting the rich a break. But we need that victim complex.
